Happy Sunday! 🌞☀️
Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese -- their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for over 20 years. Lots of them have come through our home. We have loved them all.

TOYS FOR TOASTY
Toasty is doing great at NYU. (Don’t let the sad face fool you.) He is meeting so many people and he gets a lot of attention. Sophia Francesca likes to share her toys. Her mom asked if we would like some and she’s sending them to Toasty!! Toasty is going to be so excited!! Thank you Sophia Francesca!

SHEPHERDS IN NEED
Stormi and Bubba are a pair of German Shepherds. This is Stormi above. Their owner has died and they need a home (teens and adult since they haven’t been around children) because they want to stay together. They should not go to a shelter. Too many don’t make it out.
These two are in New York but they aren’t limited to staying there. They need someone to help them recover from the loss of their person and to love them back to wholeness. If you are interested in more information, please email for more information. Please share and let us know if you know a rescue that can help.cmgleaso@gmail.com
These two deserve a home.
AUTUMN CLEANING
I’ve started some autumn projects. Cleaning some flower beds and replanting things. I am going to put some new bushes in. I’ve also started cleaning the office. So much to shred or toss. How do things get “lost” in there. After a long day of yard work, the dogs and I sat. Just sat. We needed a break. (The office organization continues. What was going to be a one day project is a many days project.) Some special pictures are in there. A beautiful Peke painting a friend left to me. Other Peke pictures are there, too. Special things are in my office.
And dogs are there of course. Paddington chose the floor. But Cinnamon wanted to be w me on the couch.
So did Dickens. They were tired from just watching me. lol. There are more projects on my list. This will be a busy autumn. 🍂🍁Friday, September 5, 2025
DOGS AND PILLOWS
Snow Pea, one of my foster fosters, loved to get on pillows on the couch. Sometimes, she would try two, and I’d watch her slowly sink between them. 🌸
Callie was our champion pillow user. She could get on the couch and take over several pillows at one time. Does your dog like pillows? Toasty, it’s behind you. He’s trying to help make the bed faster so the pillow can be there. After all, he sleeps w his girl. He loves that. My granddog Dave, is a big baby. He loves to hide w his face in the pillows. A big 100 pound baby!

CINNAMON AND PADDINGTON
When Cinnamon came, Paddington aka “Bad Pad” loved her right away.
They are often near each other. Cinnamon does do her own thing once in a while. Like totaling ignoring me when I call her. I just wanted a kiss. But she didn’t even look my way. I was crushed. My feelings were hurt. 😉Paddington will hang out w others. Like Tuk Tuk.
Then it’s time for his girl. They do love each other. ❤️

DENVER, SNICKERS AND JELLY
Denver is a PVPC alumni, but he loves having Snickers and Jellybean there as foster sisters. DeeGee is a little jealous that Denver is playing with the girls. It's okay DeeGee, Denver is till your friend. DeeGee was also adopted from us. Snickers has a LONG tongue-- but it's so adorable.
Jelly is a little jealous, too. She is very bonded with Snickers. Jelly and Snickers are waiting for their forever home.
They are a beautiful pair and we want them to be adopted together. We can wait for that home.
If you are interested in this 5 year old pair, please fill out the application. We adopt in Maryland, Virginia and areas close by. Dog experience required.

TOASTY —CLASSES BEGIN
Toasty went to college last week w his girl.
He has that “sad face” look. But he is NOT sad. (The look does get him lots of attention though. 😉)When Toasty came into rescue, my granddaughter took one look at his picture and fell in love. The first time they met, Toasty went right to her even though there were other people there. They chose each other.
Of course, Toasty lived w all the family. But then it was time for graduate school, and a dog friendly apartment was found. It even had a yard.
When Toasty needs a break he can go in his x-pen There’s a waterproof mattress pad under it to protect floors and keep water bowl spills from getting on the floor. The gate is open but Toasty likes to go in and rest. His favorite spot is looking out the window. He has steps to get on the bed which is right next to it. Toasty loves it! Classes begin today! Are you going Toasty? Or will you just hang out and look out your window and nap? I think I know what you will choose. And I would do the same. 😂

YOGI—AWESOME BOY
Yogi is a 5 year old Pomeranian who was in a shelter close to me. Some have asked if he is a Pomski- DNA would tell but we don’t know. They asked if we would help him. At the time, we had space so we said yes.
He was best friends with Winter when she was with us. They romped and played all the time. Yogi is such a nice boy. Yogi obviously isn't a Peke-- he's a Pomeranian. He's bigger than most, about 15 pounds. He turned 5 in January. Some have asked why he has been in foster care for a year. First, he's not a Peke, and most people looking at our site aren't looking for a Pom. We have had a lot of inquiries for him. But, for one reason or another, they don't meet our qualifications to adopt. They're pretty simple-- good vet care, safe home checks. Some argue that they do things that their vet check can't support. We want to make sure our fosters receive the best lifelong care possible. On that, we don't make exceptions. We don't have a time limit on how long a dog can be in foster.
So, Yogi is waiting for that perfect home. He loves other dogs and will kiss and snuggle with them. If you are interested in him and live in our area (Virginia Maryland and close by), you can fill out the application. He has not been around children, so we don't know how he would do. Yogi is an awesome boy. 💙
