PEKES WE REMEMBER #5

Rocco was transported for us, and his transporter asked if she could adopt him.   We knew what a wonderful home he would have.  Look at his face and those eyes.   Stunning.
Moxie Jane had major mobility issues, and her owner couldn't take care of her.  Her foster took her in and adopted her. With exercise, Moxie was able to run (in her own way).  She lived there the rest of her beautiful life.
Bruce and Harvard.  They came to us as brothers and were adopted together.  Very different in size, but they loved each other. I love when bonded Pekes can stay together.

Diamond came to me from a home in my area.  Her owner had died, and he didn't know how to take care of her.  She was in rough shape.  Her eyes had been dry for a very long time, and she had no vision.  Her skin needed a lot of help, too.  It was almost like alligator skin.  But she was sweet and she was adopted to a wonderful family.

Henni- Henrietta Hope was in an area near me.  We thought she had a broken leg, but her front left leg had never formed correctly.  She didn't let it get in her way.   She was a sweet girl who lived her best life with her family.
George was also in Henni's family.  He was rescued in 2023 and lived the rest of his life with his foster family.
Fey was rescued in NC.  This sweet girl walked up to the porch of someone who used to work at my vet in Virginia.  She messaged me and asked if we could help.  We did!  (What are the chances that a dog in another state would end up on the porch of someone who knew me!?)
Teddy was also in this wonderful family.  In fact, he is how I met two who would become close friends of mine.  Who was most blessed by them-- Teddy or me.  I think they blessed both of us.
King Wyatt came to us in 2019. He was 16 and covered in fleas and sores.  He lived two more years- a life of love, security and care.
BG-- BG, Big Girl, Bad Girl-- she had many names.  LOL She could be a pistol, but she was loved anyway. πŸ’œ
Tucker was adopted from us in 2006, and later his owner could no longer take care of him, so he came back to us.  His owner had been giving him a vegetarian diet and he was basically starving.  (Never do an extreme diet without a vet's guidance.  Dogs need protein and Tucker wasn't getting it.) He was with rescue until 2017, and he looked like a healthy dog once he had been cared for by his foster parents.  He was adored.
Maggie belonged to my friends also, and she was a stunning Peke with gray and black in her coat.  She lived until she was 16.
Domino was her friend.  Domino came into rescue needing some special help.  He was fearful and his parents did so much to help him feel safe.  I remember their story of trying to find him one day.  He didn't seem to be there!   They finally found him- in the laundry hamper covered by the clothes on top of him.  They could never figure out how he got in there.

Beau and Pop were in a shelter in my area.  They were found walking down a street and their owner was never found.   They were bonded and were adopted together by my friends.  They have done so much to help Pekes in our rescue.
Arbie wasn't one of ours, but her sister Trio was.   They were best friends.
Ty Ty came into rescue in 2010.  I think he was 3-5 years old.  He came with one brother and two sisters.   Ty Ty was the timid one.  We never know what their previous life was, but I know the rest of his life was wonderful.  He was a beautiful boy.

I'm grateful this season for all the sweet dogs I've been able to love.  πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’œ

OVER THE HOLIDAY

Thanksgiving is over and some of you shared pictures
w me. 😁 Christmas things are appearing at my house.
Jack (of the Christmas rescue) was lounging w a lot of his toys. No Thanksgiving work for him.
Moose (formerly Oliver of the Christmas rescue) was just hanging around w his brother and sister. He has 10 Pekes in his home.  It must be a HAPPY house.
LiLi (aka Leia of the Maryland 5) lives there too. She loves having so many friends.
Minnie (aka Belle of the Christmas rescue) is one of the pack too.
Toasty was home from college in New York and he was so happy to see his Virginia family. I was able to visit and he’s still such a happy boy.  He likes New York too, so he heads back today.
Missy Mistletoe watched out the door (they put holiday decals on it).  Then she curled up w a blanket for a nap.
Wiggie (aka Wicket) and his new sister spent time at a play center. Looks fun!
Luna (bottom) has loved having Wiggie as a new buddy.
My granddogs Lily ..
And Dave didn’t help w any Thanksgiving clean up.
Tuk Tuk just created havoc by bringing  part of a pine tree in. Thanks Tuk Tuk. lol
It’s time for decorating so I’ll share more about our house later.  We are going to be festive early. Sophia Francesca is ready  πŸŽ„πŸŒŸ

Ludo (aka Gabriel πŸŽ„) is hanging out under the Christmas tree. That means it’s almost the time when got the 19 Pekes last year.
Ludo and Toby (Fizziwig) along w Callie (Olivia) are all hanging out together.  I love “return” adopters.
Toby and Ludo are having their first Christmas in a home where they are loved.  I just love it!  ❤️πŸŽ„❤️πŸŽ„they are so attached to each other.

THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING

What did you do yesterday?  Did you start decorating?  We had set up the tree, and the lights were on it. The rest of the decorations for the tree began. Dickens loves to help.
The Pekingese sleigh went in its spot.  It was a gift from my friends and I love it. ❤️
The Christmas table cloths and blankets came out.
The mantle was stripped of everything that was there. The Autumn ambience was packed away.
The holidays things came out.
Christmas pillows were spread out.  Cinnamon and …
Dickens both showed them off.
I keep a “fence” around it. I don’t need any eye injuries.
I began putting on the ornaments. I have a lot I’ve made on line w some of the dogs pictures on them.
The dogs are just napping through it all. No help at all. πŸ˜‚. Are you decorating yet? πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

A THANKSGIVING RESCUE

This albino Peke ended up in a shelter because her owner could no longer live on her own.  She was in the same shelter as the Maryland 5.  (The one Toasty was part of.).
We wrote back and forth.  Right now, rescues are having trouble finding foster homes. We are not the only one.  So we can take one if we have a foster to adopt foster home.  I sent the request to the board and one said she would take her.
The rescue person at the shelter took her home for Thanksgiving Day.  Since the shelter would be an 8 hour round trip, we had to figure it out.  (So much goes on before we even get the dog.). The rescue person messaged and said her son was going home Thanksgiving evening. And he lives an hour away from the foster home. Wow!
Last night,  at 7:00 in the evening, we took her into rescue.  Another holiday rescue.  Welcome to your forever!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Cinnamon knows what she is doing today on Thanksgiving.  She's not getting any leftover from dinner.   She loves carrots, but that about the limit on people items.  I know cooking scents got her attention!  She will get her treats.  :-)  She won't have to lift a paw all day.
I hope all of you have a beautiful day.  If you can find time to think of all you are thankful for, I'm sure the list would be long.
Cinnamon and Dickens are just going to hang out on the couch.  His back is a perfect pillow.  πŸ’œ
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

PEKES WE REMEMBER #4

I know there must be some dogs that I haven't put in the "remembrance blogs" so please add them to the comments.   There are so many who have blessed our lives.   I remember them all.
Tinsley. I won’t forget his story. He lived outside all year round in the mountains of Virginia.  A neighbor finally said she’d report owner if he didn’t give him to her.  She turned him over to us.  He was a forever foster.
Romey, one of the Bristol 18. He passed away from cancer. He was his mom’s heart and soul.

Becky and Chris have adopted quite a few from us.   Here are come of them.  Sugar (2009-2023) came in with four other Pekes in 2010 I think.  Peanut (2015-2021).
Petey joined their family and fit right in!

Daniel 2021 was with rescue a short time.  I picked him up from a shelter and noticed his eyes were "off" like they were partly crossed.  We have dealt with all kinds of eye issues, so I wasn't worried.   He went to his foster home and did fine.  Then one day, he began to seize over and over and over.  He began medications.  But, one night they called me.  He was non stop seizing.  I'm 2 hours away but my vet at that time was open 24-7.  He stayed the night and the vet did everything he could.  The seizure activity would not stop.   His foster dad-- his real dad-- drove back, so he could hold him to say good-bye.  I remember him saying, "You were adopted."  He truly loved this boy.  I meet incredible people in rescue--
Ralo was in need 3 years ago.  He was 13 at the time, and older in many ways.  He was adopted by his family and he lived three years with them.  The care they gave him was amazing--  He was so lucky to have them.  He passed away last week.
Peanut came from a shelter and was adopted by this family also.   Peanut was in rough shape, but that all changed.   He loved his family and they loved him.  He passed away in his sleep in 2021.
Petey was Peanut's brother.
Sugar was another in the family-- they are a great Peke loving family.  Sugar came into rescue in 2010 with 3 others.  She decided she ruled her new home, and the rest listened to her.
Sugar Annie was a beautiful little one.   She was in a Virginia shelter and we took her into rescue.  She was with a sweet couple who could see how much love she had to give.
Matilda was blind when we rescued her.  She had cataract surgery and it worked!  She was a beautiful little girl.

Chip's Moe -- Elwood's brother.  I met him many years ago when I took Elwood to meet him.  They were fast friends immediately!  It was awesome to watch.
Jay Jay's mom fostered Jay Jay and then adopted him.  He was so temperamental that she knew she had to keep him.  She said, “Oh Jay Jay. He was such a challenged boy. Loved him so much. Was able to work through his crippling fear aggression. Later on, he was in a k9cart because of back problems. Pretty Penny helped teach him how to be part of the pack.”
Moe was a senior when he joined Jay Jay's family. “Moe. What a sweet old gentleman. Adopted him when he was 14. Brought him home and it was love at first site for Penny. Lived to be 16.5. His body just shutdown.”
Pudgie and Schmoo-- these two were so special when they came in.   Pudgie had a bad eye that was removed.  Schmoo was missing a vertebra and had no bowel control.   His foster parents/adopted parents did an amazing job taking care of him.   He wore diapers all the time except when he was outside.   They are both gone now-- but they had a wonderful home.

I will continue to honor the pictures you've shared-- more blogs coming.  Each of your Pekes is special.
