PADDINGTON AND CINNAMON'S LOVE STORY

                                                    PADDINGTON AND CINNAMON

Paddington and Cinnamon adore each other.   It began when she came to us.

She came into rescue on December 10, 2023.  This is her after she was cleaned up.  She was underweight, her hair was short.  She was undernourished.  She was afraid of everything.
Somehow, Paddington knew she needed help.  And it began.
She began to follow him around.  And he watched over her.
She curled up by him almost by instinct.
"Yes, I'll watch over her."
She was so small next to him.   She has gained a pound and a half since then.
He showed her that the yard wasn't scary.
She has gotten so much better from whatever she went through.  But she is still afraid of most people.
 Paddington is always there.
She will crawl into his bed to snuggle.
She is rarely alonE.   But sometimes she will get into the kitchen bed if I'm in the kitchen.
Piper (at the bottom of the picture) is often on the couch with her and Paddington.
There colors are similar, she is a softer brown red while he is red.
When I have coffee in the morning, she loves to rest her head on his back.
And he lets her.  We've been amazed how good he is with her.
Paddington has a reputation as "Bad Pad" but never with her.
The toy dog is almost as big as she is.  (She's about 12 pounds now.)
Can you see her?  She is between Piper and Paddington.
It looks like a stand off-- but it's not.  She's just adoring him.
Dickens has joined the coffee couch group.  Paddington is very good with him, too.  But it's not at all the same as he is with Cinnamon.
I do often find them all in a group.
There is still a little room for me.
It might be just three-- Piper is protecting our back yard from the ottoman in the other room.
Sometimes, Paddington rests his head on her.  And it's so sweet.

Cinnamon has now helped others feel better- like Missy Mistletoe when she came with the Christmas pups.
Cinnamon loves Piper, too.
But, it's nothing like her love for Paddington.
There they are-- best, best friends.  💙💜💕

KRINGLE—BEFORE AND AFTER

Kringle's life has totally turned around.
He is now healthier; his skin is much better.  He's gained weight-- he may be a little "fluffy" now.  But when we got him....
He wasn't as thin as Dickens was, but he was definitely underweight with terrible skin. Like many of the others, he had significant eye damage and has limited vision.
He is much better now.  His hair began growing out.
The other day, Kringle gave his mom a scare.  He was in the back area, a fenced bricked patio area, that has plenty of room to walk around.   Well, somehow, he found a way out.   His mom found him quickly, and she is still trying to figure out how he got out.  Until all the boards are checked, Kringle is on a line with his mom out there.   With his limited sight, he must have used his nose to find a spot where he could sneak out.
His tongue hangs out a lot, but it doesn't get in his way.
Like Dickens, his hair is now stunning.  To see how different these Christmas dogs are now is like watching a miracle.
Life is good for Sir Kringle.  His Christmas is going to be joyful!

PEKES WE REMEMBER #3

Some of us who have fostered for PVPC for a long-time and they wanted to share some that have been in their lives.   Barbara and Ty are a couple who have fostered for many years.   They sent me pictures of some they have loved.

Rosie came to us in June 2017.   She was blind and deaf, a beautiful albino with a fluffy white coat, blue eyes and a pink nose.  She had the sweetest face.  She had a year of love before she passed away.
Mandy came to rescue in October of 2018.   We had been told she was blind, but we also found out she was deaf, needed eye surgery, and had heart and kidney issues.  She couldn't tolerate surgery.   When you can't fix their pain, there aren't a lot of choices.  She was with them almost a month before she left, surrounded with love.

Taffy Sue came into rescue in December of 2018.  They picked her up during a snowstorm.  She was a PVPC alumni and due to health issues, her mom could no longer take care of her.  She loved to be around people and was so sweet. She passed away in March 2019.
Rosie Too (since we already had a Rosie) came into rescue in June 2019.  She didn't fit in most places, so Barbara and Ty took her in.  She left an imprint on their hearts.  Her face was always filled with love and hope.  She had trachea issues, but she kept going at her own pace.   One morning, they woke up to find she had left them.  They had her almost 6 years.
Josie - November 2022-January 2023
Barbara wrote this about precious Josie.
"Being raised in a military family Josie's situation rang a bell with me. Her mom Kyna needed to leave her girl behind while she was deployed out of the country. Josie had special needs and required someone with Peke experience to keep her safe while her mom was away. Our hope that despite being an older girl (14-16) who had health issues (that we watched carefully)  was that Josie would be safe in our care until her mom was home again in July. Kyna missed her girl so I took lots of pictures and shared them on a regular basis. But unfortunately Josie passed in her sleep in late January."  Josie especially loved her foster dad, who adored her.   She looked for him every morning when she woke up and he was always ready to take care of her, hand feed her and take her outside.

They have loved many more, and they opened their home to Snickerdoodle and Jellybean from the Christmas rescue.   They are thriving at their home.
DeeGee came to our rescue a little over a year ago.   She was in a shelter and they asked for help.  DeeGee needed help-- like most do.  She stayed at my house and had a lot of her vetting done, and then she went to Barbara's.  DeeGee is a little girl and she has a spunky personality.   She is a permanent member of the family now.
Sweet Denver.  I picked him up from a shelter near me.   Barbara offered to foster him and that was it.   Denver has his forever home.

Fostering is a sweet, sometimes challenging adventure.  We find so much love in it. 💙💜

EMILY’S CHARLIE

For some reason, this didn’t post on Facebook so I am reposting it today.
In 2024. We were asked to help this very young Peke.
Charlie was having trouble being a dog w siblings.  He needed to be an only dog so we were able to post him in hopes of finding him a home.  His leash says “Needs Space.”
Look at his face!  Beautiful. He just needed a special place.  And he got just that.
He became very content in Emily’s home.  Look at that toy.  He’s a spoiled boy. 🥰

He turned 2 years old in June.
He can be a bit reactive when he’s walking,  so his leash lets people know.  (Maybe I should get a special tag for Cinnamon.  She is just terrified of strangers.)
Charlie is in the perfect home for him.  What a lucky and loved boy he is!
