PIPER -- FINDING HER SPOT

How can it be the last day of July already?   The summer is going by quickly.   Things at Camp Runamuck (my house) are busy.  Taking care of dogs and trying to decide where to hang pictures at our new home.  

Piper has been making herself at home at my house.    

We needed to buy a harness for her, so I made a basket car seat for her so she was all strapped in safely.  Without a harness, I couldn't put on her seat belt.   She settled right down and enjoyed the ride.  (An old Longaberger basket put to good use. LOL)

All the dogs know where their food bowl goes.  Piper and Paddington eat together.  Cinnamon has her spot, and Dickens goes right to his place. 

Gwennie is behind a small gate because she's fast and I don't want her trying to help the others finish.  🤣

Gweenie is all done-- LET ME OUT.   Be patient Gwennie.  She could easily push the gate open, but she's never tried.  

Piper is tiny at 8.8 pounds.  But she can be mighty.  Dickens tried to get close because he is fascinated with her.  She told him clearly that he was in her personal space.   What a funny episode!   She will be scheduled for spay and dental.  They are done separately, so she'll be with me awhile.   I'll keep updating everyone on how she's doing.  We're working on housetraining and she's learning to go outside.   She hops in the grass and will follow me around.   She's a sweetheart.  💜
 

BERKLEY’S NEW LIFE

Remember Berkeley?  He was the “peke” we got from a shelter.  He may have had a little peke but there was more of something else. lol. This month was his one year adoptaversary!

Berkeley has been accepted by one of the cats.  The other one keeps her distance. 

He has the most adorable face.  When he was in the shelter, he was terrified.  But now, he loves his life. 

He has so many toys and is picking one out. He’s “Peking” over the bed. 

He’s another small one w a big personality.  Happy adoptaversary!! ❤️. He was a lucky boy to find such a wonderful mom. 😍

PIPER GIRL

Piper Girl came into rescue on Sunday.  

She is little at 8.8 pounds and she doesn’t need to gain weight.  

She can make it up the stairs (but so little that I like to carry her up).

We visited Gigi, Granger and Tuk Tuk. She liked Gigi. 

She did great! 

It’s Tuk Tuk and Piper Girl.  Me and mini-me. 

At night, her bedroom is the big bathtub.  

She watched me and then settled down for the night. 💤

She runs and bounces. Adorable.  She will have a spay and dental before she will be available for adoption.

GWENNIE AND THE OPHTHALMOLOGIST

Gwennie has been to the ophthalmologist several times.  She has dry eye but we were also watching the inner part of her eyes. 

We tried drops and ointment but she was still squinting. 

Gwennie will have eye surgery on August 8. 

She may still need extra meds but we hope the surgery will fix her eyes.  

Everyone loved her there and she was so good.  Sweet girl. 😍
 

A RESCUE DAY

Yesterday, we took in two females. Phoebe is 11.  

Piper Girl is 6 and little. 

They will see the vet today.  I’ll know more this week. 

Their owner loved them but couldn’t care for them anymore.   They are so cute and we will give  them everything they need.

A RELAXING WEEKEND

Today is a rescue day.   I'll be sharing more later.   We're getting two.  🐾🐾Stay tuned.  

We are checking out things near our new home.  The dogs didn't get to go.  I think they were happy to take a nap.  

To get to the other side of the river, there is a ferry.   So, we loaded on.  There's no charge since it's part of the Virginia system.

We wanted to check out a little restaurant on the other side.  It's very rural over there. 

Coming home, there are so many trees where we live.   I love it. 

Gwennie wanted to know where we went. 

So did Paddington-- and he wanted to know if we had anything to snack on.

KODA IS ADOPTED

                                 

Koda came to us from a Virginia shelter.  He was 8 months old, and his owners could not give him the eye care that he desperately needed.   The shelter asked us for help. 

He was just adopted!   And to celebrate, he got a brand-new haircut. He's so handsome! 

When I picked up Koda from the shelter, I was so shocked by his eyes that I called the ophthalmologist right away.  From the car, in the shelter parking lot.  They said come right over.   (They know our group well.) 

He received meds and then he went to his foster home.  They took him to see the specialist in his area, Dr. Corcoran in N. Virginia.    

He had several surgeries, one was major.  He had some setbacks, but then he had his last planned visit, and he was good to go!! 

He tried to get his dad's breakfast, but those eyes-- as pretty as they are now-- did not win him any of it.   Poor Koda.   lol

His foster parents adopted him-- they fell in love!   They said he's a little tyrant, probably when he's trying to get their breakfast or other good things!  LOL   Whatever he is, he's super lovable.   I'm so glad we could give him the vision care he received.

COCO—FOUR MONTHS

 

Coco (and Gwennie) came into rescue four months ago. They had been Amish breeding dogs.  

She had a home right away.  And Lizzie (and Elwood) became her family. 

At first, she didn’t know how to take walks.  She was very hesitant and kept stopping.  Now she just takes off.  

She loves her brother and sister. Cuddles are fun.  

She has fit in so well. 

There she goes. She’s headed for a neighbor down the street.   She has many friends near by and she has a lot of attention. It’s very different from being in a breeding situation.  

She has love, a home, a mom and dad, a brother and sister.. she has it all. 🥰🥰 she has her perfect place. 

ZEKE AND SOCCER

Last week, Zeke heard the World Cup was on.  

He got his soccer ball—well, his version of a soccer ball. 

It got tense in the two final games.  He was very focused on it. 

At the end, he was exhausted!   Watching the ball go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth—you get the picture.  

Maybe if he covers up, that picture in his head will go away. ⚽️⚽️ 😂
