Chester just came into our rescue. He was in a shelter near Jeanne and was about 9 or 10 years old.
He was a favorite at the shelter and was given a lot of attention.
We just got him and he had the surgery he needed. But, sometimes, surgery goes well, but something happens like heart failure or a blood clot and we lose the dog.
We are broken hearted-- and Jeanne is absolutely devastated-- because Chester died during the night.
He already has a home to go to next week and his new owner-to-be is upset that he will never be able to join her family.
Jeanne called to let the shelter know, and they were shocked, too. None of us are ever ready for this
Jeanne had the blessing of knowing this little man for a few days and that's all it took to fall in love with him. Please pray for Jeanne. Here is what she wrote after she found out. My heart is broken for her:
"I received the phone call no pet
owner or rescue wants to receive. This has to be the hardest posting I have had
to make.
I am heart-broken to read this news. I had to stop and re-read it, as I recall just congratulating sweet Chester on his speedy adoption. I thought to myself, this surely must be another Chester...? This can't be. Sending love to Jeanne, PVPC and his new mom-to-be on this terribly sad turn of events. Sometimes there are hidden medical conditions beyond our control He passed on surrounded by love. Rest in Peace little Chester. <3
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Chester. My heart goes out to everyone. We all don't want to lose our beloved babies. they are all so precious to us. My two little peke's ( Tucker & China) send their Love and prayers. Elaine
ReplyDeleteOh I am so upset too. That little butter ball coloured sweetie!
ReplyDeleteSending love to you all - especially Jeanne and the family that was going to adopt him.
***To the family that were going to adopt .... please look at the other dogs PVPC have ... I am sure there is one that will tug at your heart like Chester did and so many need loving homes.
