Clara came to me right before Christmas.
We thought once she had all her medical care done, she would be available for adoption. I was thinking of good homes for her. And I knew a few that I could trust her with.
But, then, something happened. One day, she was not okay. Her head was tilted, she was unstable, and her eyes were not functioning correctly. She was so small, only 8.5 pounds and her weight could dip down. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor. There's nothing we can do but care for her and as long as she keeps going, WE keep going.
Piper keeps an eye on her. She has not been able to stay hydrated, and sub-q fluids have been part of our schedule. The vet said if I could syringe fluids in-- about 120 cc a day-- that would help. When you give 12 cc at a time, that's a lot of syringes.
I made a chart to keep up with how much she was given. I flavor the water with broth, or baby food. It makes it easier to get down. This is absolutely critical for her health. With all she is battling, her hydration should help her a lot.
Lick those drops! You can see she has no visible teeth-- there are two little ones at the back. Her jaw isn't stable because it had two breaks in it, but it hasn't been a problem. She is such a sweet little girl. She will prance to follow me-- it's just so cute.
She is sitting in her rocking chair by my desk with her Pekingese blanket to make it soft.
Keep going little one!! We hope you are here a long time. 💜❤️
