Bogie is such a sweet boy. He's only about 2 years old and acts like a playful puppy.
Everyone falls in love with him. He went for an eye check at the ophthalmologist and they asked if he already had an adopter-- they LOVED him.He and Sissy are so bonded-- it's so sweet to watch them.
They've taken over Piper and Paddington's ottoman.
Yesterday, Bogie had eye surgery. We had been treating his eyes with antibiotics and lacrimor (tacrolimus) in hopes that the cysts on his eyes would heal. His eyes were pretty bad when he came into rescue. He would have lost his vision or his eyes without help.
He had Ectopic Cilia removal and cryoepilation in both eye lids. What is this? There were abscesses in both eyes. There was hair caught in the abscesses and the glands were being impacted. Some of his lashes were growing into the eye and caused an ulcer.
The more the hair gets to the eye, the worst the damage can be. It can cause intense pain.
He had the surgery and I was surprised at how swollen his eyes were. Cryopilation is the "killing" of problematic lashes. The ophthalmologist said his eyes were much worse than they expected. He will have to be watched carefully, given eye drops (3 different ones) 3-4 times a day. Bogie was SO sweet at the ophthalmologist. He didn't fuss for his IV or bloodwork. He's such a good boy. He is resting, Sissy is protecting him. She fussed at Sugar Bit when she came to check on him. She wanted him to be left alone.
He's on the couch, and I carry him outside. He did eat well.
He peeked up to see why I was taking so many pictures of him.
And then he snuggled down again. He will need to heal for 10-14 days and have a recheck. You can check out the link below to read about this. https://www.google.com/search?q=ectopic+cilia+dogs&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
Poor boy..... so glad he had the surgery .... it must be painful and the eyes weep but dear Bogie got those ulcers too.
ReplyDeleteI love the last photo of him asleep on the red pillow.
Rest up Bogie!
