FAREWELL HERSHEY AND JASPER

Tiffany is a friend of mine. She began rescue by fostering with our group. Then, she went on to form Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary in Virginia. It's for older, unadoptable dogs. They can be medical or just too old to be considered adoptable. Some come to the Sanctuary for a final place to live for the months they have left. It's a safe place. A loving place and a place to be cherished.
Her Hershey was with her since before she began her rescue. She was a tiny puppy at a rural shelter. They had gone to rescue another dog, a senior one. But, that dog was gone and at the end of the day, a tiny puppy was left. And she left with them. Hershey helped the foster dogs come in and feel safe. She had a job.
Jasper was one of those dogs.   He died within a week after Hershey.  I like to think they were welcomed in by so many others that Tiffany and her husband, Mike, helped.
Hershey was 12 years old and she wasn't feeling well.   Tests were done, and her heart wasn't good.  But, they also found her lungs were full of tumors.   The kindest and hardest thing was to let her go.   Tiffany said there will never be another dog like Hershey.
Run free, sweet girl.
You still have a job Hershey -- it's just at the Rainbow Bridge.  💜

  1. I certainly understand your friend's pain as I lost so much recently.
