In October of 2019, we were asked to help Dickson.
His owner had left him with a friend and then never came back. That person turned him into a shelter. He was in rough shape. (Abigail was photo bombing.)We were told he was 13 pounds-- ha! He was 28 pounds. Big boy. But, so cute.We thought he was about 9 years old-- a very adoptable age. Pekes can live a long time.
He had continued skin issues, and special diets were tried. He did lose weight to a healthier 20 pounds.
He loved his foster mom, Toni.
He had such a beautiful, soulful face. One full of sweetness.
Cuddling with Toni gave him security. I just love this picture.
We decided to keep Dickson in our foster program. No more changes.
Dickson continued to have skin and eye care.
He had a bout with HGE (Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis), It can be very serious, but he recovered well.
Dickson's health began to decline over the last 6 months. For some reason, things were just not healing.
He was getting older and sometimes, the body just can't fight things anymore.
Toni has such a gentle way with her dogs and her foster dogs, and she knew that letting him go was coming. We don't let them suffer.
Toni held him as he left. She said he was ready. It is the last loving thing we can do for them. And loved he was.
Farewell, Dickson-- run meet Rascal and so many others who loved you, too.
Big hugs to you Toni for the loss of Dickson.
ReplyDeleteYou gave him a great home and lots of love.
* I love that photo of Toni and Dickson too!
