ABNER—FORMER FOSTER DOG

In early 2013, a rural shelter asked for help. Abner (brown one) was brought to the shelter because he had eye issues.
Abner had been at the shelter for weeks- he wasn’t receiving eye care.  The staff were doing the best they could.  My friend Susan and I drove there. (It was so rural I wasn’t sure we would find it.). He had  Macropalpebral Fissure Syndrome, and that means his eye opening was so large that he couldn’t fully close his eyes.  He also had an ulcer on one of his eyes. Our first stop was the vet and his care began. He had eye surgery.  We had someone who fell in love w him.  They adopted him and continued his eye care.
Patch, Abner and Creech are a family.  His parents have continued to stay in touch and I love that.  We’ve become friends because of one little puppy.
Abner lives in cold New York.  They offered to send some of their snow to me. 😂
When Abner was adopted, he became a therapy dog.  I’m so proud of him.  He goes to hospitals and visits critical wards and really brightens their days.
He also goes to airports to visit w people waiting for their flights.  I’m sure he helps reduce their stress.
Here he is in his doctor outfit. Adorable!  Thank you Abner and your mom for all the joy you give. ❤️
