Sam and Michele had to bid farewell to their beloved Dawson today. They said he has been in a slow decline over the past few years, but was always relatively happy and healthy. He could see and hear well, and never missed the chance for a good barking session. Standing had become more difficult for him and Sam said it became clear that it was time to let him go. They had him since 1999 and he was 15 years old. He had a wonderful, long, healthy life.
We know it is never easy to let go of a beloved friend and we are so sorry. Sam asked each of us to give our loved ones an extra squeeze today and to cherish the time we have with each of them. Rest in peace, sweet Dawson.
So sorry for your loss - he was so beautiful !
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of the loss of Dawson. What a wonderful family member.
ReplyDelete"Don't think of him as gone away
His journey's just begun;
Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one.
Think of him as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
That we could know today,
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of him as living
In the hearts of those he touched....
For nothing loved is ever lost
And he was loved so very much."
I'm so very sorry! It's heartbreaking to see your friends leave so soon. I know it's a good long life for a dog, but us humans live longer and want them around longer...but no matter how long, it's never long enough. My heart goes out to Dawsons's family and I will go hug my babies for Dawson today!
