MR. PETEY

This little man was found as a stray.  A mess-- but not his fault!
He was matted to the skin.  His eyes need medication.
Have his nails been trimmed lately-- NO!   I'm surprised they have not grown into the pads.
He is in such sad shape-- but we are rescue.  We help.
This poor dog just needed someone who cared.  And Georgia, one of our members, was the one who stepped up to do it.   He had a microchip-- but it was never registered.  He had no collar, no tag.  Who let him get this bad.    Not only that-- but it appears that one of his front legs was broken at some point and never fixed.
He was shaved, and after he was done, he weight 1.2 pounds less!  He now weight 16.4 pounds.   He had a rabies shot. (We will wait before doing more-- to make sure he is healthy enough.)   We did bloodwork and a tick panel-- and are waiting for results.   Once we have all that, we will see what we can do.  But, he is safe now.  He is warm, and fed and he is in a comfortable bed.
So, welcome to rescue, Mr. Peter "Petey" (Easter is coming-- so we named him after Peter Rabbit.)  We hope he finds joy and a new life.   Before last night, he was sleeping outside, with no meal, and who knows where or what he was dealing with.  Last night, he was safe, he was fed, he was welcomed into a home.  His life began new.   Welcome to rescue, sweet one.   We already love you.  💙

  2. Tears this morning but celebration tears for him luck in "finding" his way to rescue with Potomac. How sad he must have felt with no one to turn to for a warm place to sleep, a good meal and medical attention for his various pains from systematic neglect.

It's another example of Easter, rising from the ashes of death to a new good and safe life.
