Sammy came into PVPC in 2008. He came to us from another rescue and was a sweet boy.
He was adopted and went to live with Bob and Lily. Every year on his birthday, they celebrated! He turned 16 in January and he celebrated with Piper, also a PVPC alumni.
When Piper was adopted in 2012, they became great friends.
Sammy was such a wonderful little man.
He also had a sister, Abbi, who was adopted about the same time as Piper-- what a threesome!
His dad sent me an email and said, " He was a wonderful guy who gave us many years of love and joy."
Sammy aged gracefully, like most Pekes. Pekingese have so much dignity (most of the time), mixed with that joyful spirit we all know.
But, he slowly began to lose the use of his back legs.
His mom and dad knew it was going to be time to make a decision that would be best for Sammy, but heartbreaking for them.
His last Christmas was perfect, with stockings for each pup.
Sammy posed under the tree.
He modeled his PVPC hat. Even with losing the use of his legs, he kept trying. His mom and dad said he chose the day when he was ready to leave. They held him as they let him go. He was now free from the limitations that this life can bring with age.
He joined his sister, Penny, at the Rainbow Bridge. Run free now, Sammy. You were so cherished.
