FAREWELL NICKY

Nicky was a beautiful boy- the heart dog of Sherry.
He was very laid back-- going with the flow with fosters coming and going.   He was fine with the cats who were there, too.  He accepted them all.
He got SO excited when his meals were being prepared...he would prance around and, if his mom wasn't working fast enough, he would start barking.  He absolutely loved popcorn. He knew the popping noise and would sit and stare at the microwave.  He knew what was coming .

He loved to wander around in the back yard and check on all the smells. He enjoyed the little things in his life.
He was so sweet and would share his bed with others.  He made the foster dogs welcome.
Nicky began to have mobility problems.   He was 16 and we know that happens as they get older-- but it's still hard.
His back legs and hips became weaker and weaker. It was difficult for him to stand and to walk. His back legs would just give out and he would fall over.
He began to have fluid in his lungs.  He was in congestive heart failure, and medication helped-- but it can't cure it.
Nicky began to refuse his regular food, his tasty treats, his turkey meat and even his chicken.   He seemed to be uncomfortable and would shift positions every few minutes and began to wander.  There were more and more signs that his dementia was progressing.  His mind and the body were failing.   It was time to let him go.
Nicky left this world with his mom by his side.   He was deeply loved-- even with all his health issues, I know that HE KNEW he was cherished.   Run free now, sweet boy.  I know many of your friends welcomed you at the Rainbow Bridge.  💙

  1. I know you will miss Nicky so much.
16 years is a good age for a Pekingese but it does not make it easier.
Big hugs to you Sherry - love the Aussies XXX
