POLLY POCKETS IN HATTERAS

I've been out of town for a week- see tomorrow's blog on where I've been! :-) +++++++++++++++++++
Polly Pockets was one of our crossposts-- that means we try to help the foster mom find her a home, even though she's not one of PVPC's foster dogs. We want to help them all if we can.

Her new family absolutely adores her. They take trips to Hatteras, NC and Polly has been several times. They also love to dress her up. Is this an old fashioned ca', or a chef's hat haha. What do you think?

I think she's really a sweet girl-- but they're trying to make her look naughty here. I don't think there a naughty bone in her.

Here she was all ready for the Fourth of July-- can you tell how excited she is to have these things bobbing around on her head? :-) I don't think so! haha You're a good sport, Polly Pockets!

PAX

We were told there was a Pekingese in a shelter in Maryland. We took in another dog from the same shelter. Paige, one of our Maryland foster moms, went right over to see him.
He was a stray, but so friendly. He also had a lot of fleas. We can deal with fleas! Bomb those little things!
Paige named him Pax, since he was found near Patuxent River, Maryland. He appears to be housebroken. He isn't bothered by the other dogs or by the cat that lives there.
He is a big boy at twenty pounds-- but not overweight. There is just a lot of him to love.
He loves his toys -- especially this tennis ball!!
I think he's looking for more toys!
Here are two videos of Pax.

If you have plenty of toys :-), Pax might be the dog for you!

CONE HEADS

Most of the foster dogs have surgery of some kind. It may just be spay/neuter. If we're lucky, that's all they need!! When they have surgery, most have to wear an e-collar to keep them from going after their stitches. I have some pictures to share. This is Leo after his eye surgery. Leo is one of our sweetest Pekes. He is special needs because he is blind. At only about a year old, he's really amazing. He has learned to go up and down the outside steps, he loves people and dogs and his foster mom and dad. Leo had to have one of his eyes removed because it was causing him problems. So, he had to wear a cone to keep him from rubbing it. It looks pretty rough, but pretty soon, he's look wonderful. Here's some pictures and videos of him. http://bluebug.smugmug.com/Pets/LeoPVPC/12819384_qgs2Y#925107460_U4WK9
At my house, I had two "coneheads." I think my Cranberry thinks it's contagious and she is "heading out!" Dimples (now Kaci) is in the middle. She's a little twelve pounder and very sweet! She was an owner turn in and met her future mom at my house the day she arrived. We were told she was four, she may be older, but she sure is loved now in her new home!
Here's Dimples/Kaci again with Sammy. Sammy is being fostered in Va. Beach and he is SO Sweet. (I seem to be saying that a lot, but it's true-- we have a lot of nice Pekes right now!) Sammy was neutered, and he has to wear his e-collar until he is all healed.
Here is Dimples/Kaci again-- you know I had to get at least one pink bed in the blog!!
I told you yesterday there would be pictures of Maximus after his surgery. His big eye folds are gone, and his nose has been opened up more so he can breathe easier. He was also neutered. He is still a beautiful boy, "cone head" and all. And he's happy. One thing his foster mom told me is that he loves to be rocked to sleep!!
Look at that smile. Don't you want to adopt one of these precious Pekes? Just email us at potomacpekes@gmail.com.

MAXIMUS

Remember Maximus? He came into rescue in June.
He went to the "farm" with me-- where my daughter lives. What a happy boy! He was so good with the kids-- don't worry, we didn't leave him alone with the baby. And he really didn't get too close. But, he LIKED the baby. :-) Look at his grin!
My granddaughter loved to walk him.
Remember Maximus? He came into rescue in June. He is a happy, beautiful boy.
Maximus is in his foster home in Chesapeake, VA (near Norfolk). He loves his balls and toys.
He's planning his next attack.
Maximus had some BIG eye folds and he had tiny nose openings. SO, when he was neutered, we fixed those, too. You'll see pictures of him "after" in tomorrow's blog.
I think he must have known he was going to have all that surgery-- he looks a bit worried!
Maximus is acting very real. Look at that stance. :-)
Maximus loves to lay on the air conditioner vents. It's a cool place to lay on these hot days. He is about 2 years old, and just a great Peke. Here's a video of him: Click here: YouTube - maximus If you are interested in adopting him, just email potomacpekes@gmail.com.

CHLOE--ADORED PEKE

I know I say this over and over-- heat and Pekingese do not get along. Here is an article for you to read-- I want to make sure all the dogs are protected!! Click here: Dog Heatstroke Prevention and Treatment - Paw Nation
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
CHLOE
Remember Chloe-- she was adopted last month. She is so loved.
Her parents wanted a young black Peke-- Chloe is a little older and white. But, I guess opposites attract-- what they thought they wanted and what they now love are very different. :-) Chloe is showing off here.
Chloe LOVES her daddy!! She gives him lots of kisses and was so excited to see him after her vacation at Jeanne's. I think she's telling us she's really glad to be back on her daddy's lap!
And I think he's really glad to have her there!
And now it's time for a rest-- being loved so much is hard work. :-)

POOPED PEKES

Just want to share a cute video-- a Peke who eats so politely!! (Sorry for the wrong video! Here is the right one!)
http://www.youtube.com/user/pekingesecandy#p/a/u/1/Yha4h4aXDZ0++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Some days are just rough for Pekes-- too much activity, too much heat, too many jobs. :-) Sushi, above, is taking a break!! Being this cute is hard work.
Amee's crew in Richmond are vegging out on FANCY beds!
It was a hard day-- Maxwell in California had a bath. He had to rest from the trial of having to endure this. :-)
And he rests again-- does this qualify as a pink bed??
Sugar and Shark are worn out-- probably from playing with three kids. :-)

I hear one snoring under my desk-- I think I have pooped Pekes all over! :-)

Jeanne's Garden and Dogs

Jeanne, as you know, is my co-director. She does so much. She has an incredible heart for the dogs. Here she is with her DiDi-- a foster she could not part with. DiDi feels the same way.
Group nap time is normal there. Let's all get on one bed-- even though there are many to choose from.
Jill Lee was having extra snuggle time.
I had to throw this picture in. Jill Lee isn't a Peke, but she is so cute!! This is her baby picture. :-) Jill Lee has to put up with all the Pekes who come there for fostering.
Bernie is about to be adopted-- I think he's saying, "Mom,Dad, where are you?? Come fast!"
This is in Jeanne's garden-- can you see the nest? And the bird?
Things are blooming and growing. The dogs have a scenic walk-way in the back yard.
They have beautiful flowers to look at.
This is Coco, now Chloe. She was adopted from rescue and she came to visit Jeanne while her mom and dad were out of town. Isn't she beautiful!
She loves to be at Jeanne's.....
But, she was so excited when her mom and dad came back. She gave them LOTS of kisses!!
And here is Gracie, Jeanne's sister in law's Bishon. She looks like a little stuffed animal. As Jeanne says, she's way too cute!!!
I'm going to visit Jeanne-- so I'll get to see who is there now! I love to see her garden. And sit and chat with Jeanne!
