Snow Bear saw the neurologist Friday. He had an MRI which showed that he didn’t need surgery. They recommended acupuncture so that’s the next step. PT will probably help too. Snow Bear is not in pain. He also had a bladder infection so he’s on meds now.
He was loved by everyone at both the neurologist and his vet in Richmond. He is so joyful! His journey continues. I will need a foster home for him who can help w his care. (All expenses are covered by rescue.) He says HAPPY SUNDAY! πΎπΎ
Must Love Pekes
Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese -- their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for over 22 years. Lots of them have come through our home. We have loved them all.

GWEN GUINNIE GWEENIE GWENNIE
This sweetheart came to rescue a week ago. At first, she growled at everyone. But now…
She thinks she’s part of the gang. She’s waiting for dinner to be ready.
All 5 were patiently waiting. Her name was Gwen when she came. I changed it to Guinnie which was a little cuter I thought. Then I heard someone say Guinnie like it was English money. That’s not what I meant. So I said I would change it to Gweenie. That would clarify how to say it. Right?? Wrong! Mt husband said, “Oh you changed it. And he said Gweenie- like it rhymed w Beenie or greenie. No! That’s not what I meant either. Oh my goodness. So I respelled it to Gwennie. Like Gwen-ie. that should work. I hope. Whatever we call her, she is precious! I mean super adorable. And there she is, joining the gang while they guard the street. I hope we all say her name correctly now. π. Her name changes have been an adventure!

LIZZIE—AN INTRUDER
Lizzie, on the left, was not pleased when Coco showed up at her house. She thought her parents were just going to meet her. Nope, they took her home.
Lizzie came into rescue in 2019. She was in a rural shelter, and they asked up to help.
She was adorable!
But now-- there's an intruder. Lizzie sat on her mom's lap and watched Coco, Guinnie (pronounced Gwen-ie), and Elwood as they were all introducing themselves.

Nope, Lizzie did NOT want to meet her.
Elwood was just fine. He loves all the dogs.
Lizzie went from turning her back on everyone, to watching them. And her dad made her sit in the front seat with her on the way to get their nails trimmed. Oh, My! Life is rough when you're the queen and a new girl shows up. Don't worry Lizzie. It will all be fine. π

Slowly Lizzie turns, inch by inch, step by step. She will now look at us. Her tantrum is hilarious.
We've made progress. Lizzie will now look at all of us lol.
Loved it. If you look across a room it is hard to tell Liz from Coco with those white Fu Man chu's.
She thawed out yesterday. Gave Coco the stink eye when she lagged behind on a walk. Lizzie is only slightly spoiled and over indulged lol.

GUINNIE IS FEELING BETTER
Guinnie came into rescue on Saturday. She wouldn’t eat and I didn’t see her drinking much. We were told that she was 7 but the vet agreed w me that she was probably only 4-5 years old. She went to Williamsburg w me on Sunday. She didn’t act like she felt well. (She was hanging out w Tuk Tuk.)I found out why she was feeling well when up came 2 pieces—one was a piece of rubber and the other a small strip.
Then this came up.
It was over 2 inches long. I can’t imagine how she swallowed it. She did take some water but her stomach was very upset. Monday I took her to the vet.
Then this came up.

She had X-rays to make sure no other objects were in her tummy. The X-rays showed she definitely had distress. She had fluids and Cerenia. We also did a full panel bloodwork. It turned out great! Katie carried her a lot and gave her lots of kisses. ❤️
The vet said to bring her back yesterday if she wasn’t better. So back we went for a “stay-day.” She had IV fluids all day and they got her to eat a few things. She was very popular w everyone in back and was carried around a lot. I picked her up around 6:00. She had the look of being very insulted w me! π I had already cooked plain chicken. And she ate some! Then she decided to explore the fireplace.
It was all very interesting.
An adventure exploring. That was all she had energy for. I think she will be much better today.
She loved getting snuggles w me on the couch.
Off to sleep after a long day. π€π€

WELCOME SNOW BEAR
Snow Bear is under 4 years old. Don’t let the “sad face” fool you. He is very happy and his tail wags a lot. His owner requested help because he had been accidentally dropped. He couldn’t walk well, his back legs bent behind him and he was dragging them.
We hoped another rescue could take him but he came to us. I have a temporary foster for him while he goes through neurology testing, possible MRI and possible surgery. After that, I’ll need another foster since his current foster mom is moving. We hope he will be able to walk well soon. In the meantime, he is being loved and cared for. He’s a sweet boy.

WELCOME COCO
Guinnie and Coco came in on Saturday. I have Guinnie and Coco is in a foster to adopt home.
She’s a little one and bouncy sweet. Like Guinnie, she was an Amish breeding dog. We met the owner in Richmond. It was really hard for him but he wanted the best for them. I was touched by how much he cared. Coco was so relaxed that she rolled over on her back on her foster mom’s lap.
Yep, she liked her foster dad too.

Her foster dad said, “she’s a follower, can do the sofa doggy stairs and slept at Robins feet. She also likes curling up with me on the chair. She's a gentle soul that just wants love.”
Her new friend is Elwood, adopted in 2014. Lizzie, adopted in 2019, is miffed. lol. But she’ll soon realize that Coco is her new best friend. ❤️. Welcome to rescue Coco! π₯°Sunday, March 15, 2026
WELCOME GUINNIE
Yesterday was a long rescue day. I'll share more about it later. We took in 3 and this one is younger than we were told, I think. We'll see. She is very sweet, but a little grumpy with the dogs. She played with the other dog where she came from, so she'll eventually be fine.
Happy Sunday!
