PADDINGTON—OFF TO JAMESTOWN

My granddaughter is a junior in high school.  How did that happen?
She had some minor surgery so the dogs and I went to help her.
My grandson got home from school and there was double the welcome committed.
Tuk Tuk was part of it.  He also hung on in the porch w us.
Granger thought we must have a tasty treat.
We had time to rest and read.
We like books.  We all have so many books. Marie Kondo said we should have 30 books but we think that’s just the number readily available.  Not the ones on the shelves.
Granger loves books.  “Read me a story.”
I gave my daughter a coffee cup w book titles on it.  Tuk Tuk approved.  (My daughter is an English teacher.)
Do you want a story Piper?
We read, we talked and had family time.   Of course, Granger had to get in his box.
Home today, but we’ll be back soon.  It’s just an hour away. ❤️

PEBBLES— SO PRECIOUS

Pebbles is so cute, I can hardly stand it.
She was a stray in Maryland and in need of medical care.
She is being fostered w Snuffles, an honorary PVPC Peke.
Pebbles has settled right in!
Easy going and happy.
She went into heat, so that delayed her spay.  But, she’s having a dental today.
She’s about 13 pounds and so precious.   I’m so glad rescue could help her. πŸ’–
We are taking applications for her.  (If you submitted one already, just email us to let us know you’re interested in her. Potomapekes@gmail.com )

Bogie Ralo

Bogie.  He was Sissy’s “brother.”   They were adopted together and then returned after two weeks.   Sissy missed us.  Bogie was adopted to a great family.  They had Sugar and she wouldn’t accept a female.  So Sissy stayed here.

Bogie likes to visit the beach. 🌊⛱️. He gets to go pretty often.
Bogie allowed Ralo to join the family.   He is not a fan of other male dogs usually, so he peed on Ralo’s bed. 🀣

Bogie is so sweet and loving w people.
Oh my how I loved him and hated to see him leave.  But, rescuers do let go.   And I knew what a fabulous family he was going to.  They have adopted 7 from us I think. (Right?).
Ralo is getting older and has medical issues and Bogie misses him when he’s not there (vet appointments).  See Bogie!   You really do love your brother. ❤️

AUGGIE-- LETTING GO

Auggie came into rescue with mats and smelly condition with infected skin.  Oh, he was on meds for kennel cough, too.
My vet saw him that day.   They helped me get rid of the mats and trimmed his nails.  The massive mats on his ears were shaved off.  The vet put him on meds to help his skin.   We began special baths, and he was so good!
This week, they had an opening where they could do his neuter.  That was awesome!!
He was loopy the first day, but each day he has become more and more secure and happy.
He decided he let us know how much he liked to be held.  He jumped on the couch (there's a little step stool there).   He loves attention.
Auggie decided to take the covers off the dog beds.  I put them back on.  He took them back off.  LOL
This week, he relaxed so much and we realized he loves to be held like a baby.
He was on Matt's lap-- who could resist that face.
Then.... he decided he would stop sleeping downstairs on the couch and he came upstairs to join the rest of us.    He curled up on the end of the bed.   I woke up in the morning, with him curled up by me.  Oh, my.
Even Paddington, aka Bad Pad, has been good.   Auggie is not alpha.   (He does eat by himself, though.  Just a precaution since he was pretty thin when he showed up at the shelter as a stray.)
People say "keep him, you love him."   But, rescue is about letting go.   And I look at my age and the foster age, too.  I’m getting older and Auggie is young.  If I keep a foster, I can't help the next one who needs care.   Some people say, "I couldn't do that."  But, if you want to rescue a long time (over 20 years for me now), you only keep the ones who need special care, or the ones who aren't adopted for some reason or the other.    Is it hard to let go?  Yes.   But, I have the chance to fall in love over and over.   That's the joy of rescue.   What a privilege.  πŸ’•

CLANCEE MARIE HAS A PARTY

Clancee Marie’s mom had a birthday!! πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚
77!  What a gift to be able to celebrate so many years of love.
Marion looks awesome. I’ve been blessed to have her as a friend for 3 1/2 years— since she adopted Clancee Marie.
Did Clancee Marie order this awesome cake?
I thought her mom would get a present. But Clancee Marie got one!  A new car.  Wow!   Her mom said, “Miss Clancee Marie has a new 2024 Mercedes! She is stepping on up!! She has kept her red car to run around town in but her new Mercedes is for the weekend!!”
Clancee Marie loves her new vehicle.   Hmm, maybe I’ll get one for my birthday! 🀣🀣.  We all wish her mom a happy birthday!  πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚
