Auggie (named August at first because he came in August) came into rescue two years ago this month.
It didn’t take long for his new mom to fall in love w him. He was adopted as soon as he was healthy.
He has made a great therapy dog for his “grandmother” and he brightens her day. Dogs are amazing comforters. Happy two years Auggie from a shelter to rescue to HOME. ð
Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese -- their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for over 20 years. Lots of them have come through our home. We have loved them all.

BOGIE AND SUMMER
He loves looking out the front door. Rey is often there w him. They are so cute together!
They look related. Both beautiful. They’ve watched a lot of baseball this summer. Their family is big into baseball. I bet Bogie could teach me some. In the meantime, he will just nap, out of the sun and heat. Great idea you two. ð

WIGGLEBUTTS ARE HERE
Granger, Tuk Tuk and Toasty are here. Exploring is first. They’ve been here before but new smells must be everywhere. They are roaming all over the yard. PThey like hiding. I see you Toasty.
The yard, the porch, inside— so many places to be camouflaged.
Granger is so chill here.

Mine are all doing great. Even Bad Pad. Of course his favorite spot is still w Cinnamon.
No Granger. That is not a cardboard box - we don’t have any ðĐTuk Tuk and his happy grin. Cinnamon and Dickens are having a nap on the couch. It’s going to be a busy happy week. After all, we ARE Camp Runamuck. ð️ (our bed had 5 dogs on it last night! Sunday, August 3, 2025
GIDGET HEARS GOSSIP
Gidget is hearing things. I’m not sure how. A bird must have told her. What did she hear? She heard that 3 Pekes are coming to my house this weekend. And she’s right!
Toasty, Granger, and Tuk Tuk are visiting for a week. It’s going to be another crazy house! Piper and SIX Pekingese. That means Dickens AND Tossty are going to have therapy each day on their back. Toasty is bigger than Dickens and he likes to turn into a blob of jello if I try to pick him up. This should be a fun week! ðĪŠðĪŠ

JACK AND HIS TOYS
One by one, he gathers them. What are you thinking Westley? Aren’t some those your toys too?
I see the toy on the step. Whose is it? I guess Jack claimed it.
In fact, I think he claimed them all. And he’s going to sleep w them — every single one. I’m sure he would wake up fast if Westley got close. ðð

AFTER THE ADOPTION
I've had a LOT of fosters here this year. Many of the Christmas rescues were here for a while, a short time, or a long time. The character of the house changes with every addition and every adoption. When the Christmas dogs first came, they found security in each other. But as time went on, they learned to be themselves and became whole. It was so much fun to have them all here-- healing, finding they were loved. Seeing the changes in them was like watching little miracles happen. I loved it. Missy Mistletoe was such a sweetheart here. I didn't know if I could let her go. But, after 22 years of rescue, I knew I could if I found a home where she would be cherished. And that happened, Missy went to her new home this week. And she IS cherished there. And when that happens, the atmosphere of the home changes-- again. The toys are still there. The home dogs are still there. Routines pretty much stay the same, with less dogs.
The sound of the house is different. Paddington notices it. So do the rest. Missy is doing very well in her new home-- she is adjusting, it's all new. But, it will become normal to her-- just like our "new" will become normal for us. She has continued to sit on the back of the chair, while her person gets a sliver of the front. LOL
She curls up beside her new mom and is slowly finding that out her new dad might just be a good guy. ðIt's a different kind of quiet here. But Cinnamon likes that she can get right next to me. Missy always liked to be the closest. And I loved it. But it's Cinnamon's turn again. Dickens is still here. He has improved a lot, but he will always be special needs. It's okay that he has compromised walking. It's okay that he doesn't see well. Everyone knows this isn't a house of perfect dogs, but they are all loved. Things are in a new normal. The dogs still bark at the door to warn me of danger outside. (The UPS or Prime trucks are so dangerous!) Rescue means changing all the time. We've had a lot of change here. A lot of chaos and peace, and medical crises and healed dogs. And I love it. Rescue has been a wonderful mission for me. What has been a huge part of your life?
