BATH DAY

Yesterday was bath day.  No one was excited. 

Could they hide?  Piper tried. 😉

Where was Pippi?   I was looking all over the yard.  She had disappeared.  She has starting exploring new areas so I’m having to polish my “find the Peke” skills. 

Want to have a bath?  

I did their nails and trimmed their feet.  Piper had his face trimmed.   His hair grows fast.  All six were bathed and put on the deck table to be brushed and blown dry. 

Blowing them dry helps me get a close up of their skin to make sure it’s healthy.  (This helped me find out that Dickens has a skin infection several weeks ago.  His hair is so thick even though he is trimmed some.  He’s on antibiotics or.) 

After they were all done, it was time for dinner.  I took a picture of both sides of me.  

I guess Gwennie wanted to be in both pics because she ran to the other side when I turned. 😂

They were all so good   Paddington turns to jelly on my lap when I dremel his nails   It’s hard to hold a jello dog and get anything done   😂

Gwennie didn’t mind any of it.  She’s such a good girl. 🥰.  They’re all “nice and shiny” now.✨✨

WIGGIE’S SPECIAL PLACE

WIGGIE

Wiggie has a special place he loves to go.  It’s the beach house.   What a lucky boy!  

He loves his best friend Luna. I know she loves having a brother. 

Wiggie likes all kinds of adventures from snow to beach weather. 

Getting special outfits on for the cold can be annoying but we all have to do it. 

He loves his special family and has so much attention. 

He came in before Halloween last year and was adopted w in weeks by a previous adopter.  (I already know previous adopters and don’t have to go through a full adoption application process which is nice.)

I wonder if he will dress up this year or visit a pumpkin patch.  We’ll have to wait to find out. 🧡🎃
 

NONO ON SUNDAY

Nono (Noelle of the Christmas rescue) loves her home.  She wanted to show you some of her toys.   I’m sure she has more. 🧸🪀⚽️. Nono wishes everyone a happy Sunday. 🥰
 

GWEENIE UPDATE

It’s been 3 weeks since Gwennie’s eye surgery. I guess this is what she thinks about surgery. 😂

She saw her surgeon yesterday   Gwennie’s eyes are healing well   They are still swollen but she will continue to heal.  It is just taking a little longer. 

She was so good and they all thought she was cute. She earned a lot of treats. 

We came home and her buddy Dickens gave her moral support- or maybe he was just sharing his bed.  He loves his Gwennie. 💖

 

GRANGER’S BOX BED

Granger has nice soft beds.  But he will always choose a box.  

Toasty has bed head but he’s awake enough to ask “WHY A BOX GRANGER?”

As long as there are companies like Chewy and Amazon, there will be boxes.

If you can use one box, why not two?   Let’s make bunk beds. 

We put Tuk Tuk in the top one.  

Don’t jump. We will help you!  Guess bunk beds aren’t really a good idea.  We tried. 😂🛏️🛌
 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KODA

Koda came into rescue in May.

He needed a lot of eye surgery and we wanted to help. 

He had several surgeries and finally got the all clear. 

Koda was a year old this month.  He has filled out, too.  

Look at how big he is.  20 pounds!   Not fat. Just big framed.  He’s about the size of our Granger.  

Happy birthday Koda!   I hope you got a treat. 🧸🦴

POPPI JUNE NOW

POPPI JUNE

Poppi June came into rescue in early July.  She was underweight and neglected, but we saw so much life possibility in her.  

And I just couldn’t resist that pop up ear!  Could you have resisted?  I bet you couldn’t. 😉

She was at my house a short time, but she had a new mom waiting.  

She is blossoming there. Her hair has come in beautifully.  Her mom just sent me a message.  (You know I love updates!)   "Poppi June got her first "pedicure" and bangs trimmed today!  When I handed her to the groomer, Poppi looked so worried.  When I picked her up, she jumped into my arms and almost licked my ear off on the ride home.  She is sooo loved!  Thank you for choosing me.”

Finding the right home for these little ones is such a gift for us.   I take it very seriously because the rule for me is "the dog comes first."   And Poppi June needed her new mom and her mom needed her-- the perfect home!!  She is resting now after a long day.  Tomorrow she will wake up ready to begin a brand-new day.  💜
 

NAME CHANGE?

Pippi has become so comfortable w my group here. Inside, she’s calm and easy going.  

Shes’s right next to Cinnamon.  She will still let the others know if she doesn’t want to share something.  She’s bluffing. Lol.  She’s doing great. 

Outside, she becomes so sassy if she sees the neighbor dog.  

She is front and center in my crew.  

I wonder if I should have named her Sassafras.  Sassy for short.  She gets so worked up and she expends a lot of energy.  

It’s exhausting for her. I’m not changing her name but Sassy Sassafras would be a great choice.  Do you have other names that would fit your dog?   

TOBY AND LUDO-SUCH JOY

 

Ludo and Toby (Fizziwig and Gabriel 🎄🎄) are so happy in their home.  They were at my home after the Christmas rescue and their new mom came to meet ONE. Her husband said just one.  But it didn’t go that way because she instantly fell in love w two.  They are still best buddies and they have lots of friends at their home. They may not know up from down (like the picture) but they know they are loved. 

Such a precious picture.   Their happy faces, their secure lives w great love bring so much joy!

PUPPY GROOMING

Sophie and Spencer are almost 5 months old.  They are energy in action.  Ray is in the background. He anted to be in the picture, too. 😍

They know the word “outside” and they run and tear around the yard until they are exhausted. 

A brief nap and they’re ready to start again. 

Sophie and Spencer were groomed this week. Look how beautiful they are!  

These puppies are best friends and it would be awesome if they could stay together.  They absolutely need a playmate to run around w.  They also need a large fenced yard.  If you are interested in adopting, we adopt in Maryland and Virginia and close by.  We require vet and home checks.  No first time adopters. 

If you want a sedate, low energy dog, these dogs won’t fit that bill.  They are all for busy fun fun fun.  They also will need to be groomed regularly.  It’s an absolute necessity. You can message on our Facebook account if you have questions.
