OFF TO RICHMOND

We drove to Richmond so we could meet Olivia’s new family.
She is such a happy girl. The looks she can give are priceless.  She has so much joy.

Since I met some other friends there, my daughter and granddaughters came too.
Toasty came too and he met so many of his fans   They all loved him!

Richmond was a great place to meet Diamond ๐Ÿ’Ž.
Olivia thought Toasty was boyfriend material.
Olivia loved meeting everyone.
This is Davey Jones. He will be Olivia’s new brother.  Her new name will be Calypso or “Callie.”  I couldn’t change it here since we have a Callie already.

This is Olivia/Callies other sister   Mamacita is tiny!

Mamacita will help Olivia/Callie learn about her new home.
Tuk Tuk was so tired from meeting so many new friends.  I bet he took a long nap. Then again we know how much energy Tuk Tuk has.  We were all ready for a relaxing and slow evening. Happy new home to one, and welcome to rescue for another.

DIAMOND-HAPPY SUNDAY

Diamond has had a busy few days.   I met her fosters in Richmond yesterday and brought her to my house.
She will see my vet on Monday to begin her medical.  She has her own area to rest and decompress.
She’s going to just have a nice Sunday doing nothing. HAPPY DAY!
For all of you who were in Hurricane Helene’s path, we are praying for you.

OLIVIA—GOING HOME

Olivia came to rescue in August.  No, she's not our typical foster, but we took in 4 non-Pekes the past month.    The same shelter asked for help for all.  It's a shelter I've worked closely with for years.
Olivia was not even 7 months old, a baby.   She was active, sweet, loving, and housetrained!   And she loved to help me-- like folding the laundry.
At first, she wanted to play with Paddington.  She wanted to play with Piper and Callie and Cinnamon.  Only Callie would play, and Cinnamon ignored her.   Piper and Paddington thought she was a pesky puppy.
She needed her vetting all done-- but her bloodwork was so bad at first.   She was obviously fighting something.  But she got better and better.  When she was spayed two weeks ago, she didn't seem to be bothered by it at all.
She became part of the pack.  She loved watching outside.
She wanted to go everywhere--
I love how she crosses her legs.  I don't know if it's Mini Australian Shepherd thing or not.  But it's adorable.
She loves attention and loves being close.
She loves toys!   If you want to find her, you just follow the trail of toys.
They are everywhere.  Along with paper she can find.   She also carried one of my husband's shoes from where he set it down.   LOL
Piper and Paddington learned to share their ottoman.
She loved all the beds in the house.  She followed me everywhere.
Everyone got a bath yesterday.  Cinnamon was waiting to come in from the porch.  Olivia could have leaped that little partition with no problem at all.  Look how small Cinnamon is.  Olivia has gained almost 4 pounds since she came.  She's calmed down a little-- that means she doesn't make AS MANY circles around the yard as she did.  LOL
We will miss Olivia's joy and her total love.  But she goes to her new home today.  They are so excited to be adopting her.
I know she will love her new life.   We love you Olivia! ๐Ÿ’—

DIAMOND-WELCOME TO RESCUE

DIAMOND ๐Ÿ’Ž
We received a request for help from a Baltimore shelter. A little girl had been taken to the shelter by her owner.
Yes!  We can help.
Her name is Diamond๐Ÿ’Ž.  We will keep that and I bet she’ll have some cute nicknames.
Diamond is 12 years old and small.  She’s sweet and loves to be held. She is a little wobbly and we will have her thoroughly checked out. We do the works to see what condition they are in.
The first thing she has was a bath. She had to be shaved down because there was no way to save her hair.  I bet she is so much more comfortable.
We won’t be taking applications for her since we already have so much interest in a few hours.   I’ll update you on how she does. ๐Ÿ’•
WELCOME TO A NEW LIFE DIAMOND๐Ÿ’Ž.

CINNAMON RECIPES

Cinnamon Cookie had an idea.  Okay, I’m fibbing, it was my daughter.  ๐Ÿ˜œ

The idea is for you to share a recipe but your dog’s name has to be the first name of the recipe.
I’ll share my Banana Bread recipe.
It’s Cinnamon's Banana Bread. (Maybe we could add some cinnamon the recipe.)
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed bananas 1 t lemon juice (which was mixed w the bananas).
2 cups flour
3 t baking powder.
1/2 t salt
1 cup chopped nuts. You choose.
350 degrees, 1 1/2 hours.
Since ovens can vary their temperatures, keep checking the bread.
Cinnamon says “START COOKING!”

GRANGER AND RAIN

Granger saw that it was raining outside.  He found his favorite thing—a box.  In he went and now he is just going to wait it out. It’s going to be a wait Granger because more rain is coming.   ๐ŸŒง️☔️

FOOD ALLERGIES

Have you had a dog w allergies?    My Chumley was rescued in 2014 and his skin was awful. So much hair missing.  He began w antibiotics to soothe his skin and infections.  But that was not enough.  He had to have cytopoint shots every 4-6 weeks kept him comfortable.  He had food and outside allergies.  I did allergy testing on him.  He was allergic to sweet potatoes. ๐Ÿ˜ณ and I had been feeding him lamb and sweet potato food. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
(The allergy tests I did was a blood test.  But there are so many ways to find out a dog’s allergies.)
Autumn brings on so many pollen allergies.   I have been having a terrible time and I’m not usually this bad. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Here’s an article you can read.  Food Allergies in Dogs | PetMD

Gigi my grand dog has a lot of outdoor allergies.  For some dogs, apoquel works  and Gigi is one of them

But for many, the Cytopoint shot makes a huge difference. (Birdie Bea didn’t seem to have allergies.)
Some dogs can get it every 4-6 weeks.  Chumley had to have it every month except in the winter.  Then he could go 8 weeks.
Some dogs can have food allergies. I think more have grass and pollen allergies.  Symptoms can be: chewing, scratching, loss of hair, eye issues and more. Licking the paws is common for dogs w grass allergies. They walk on the grass and when they lick, those allergens are ingested
Paddington just began having skin allergies this year. He is 8 1/2 years old. He was scratching so much.  That led to hot spots which I treated.  But I had to take him to the vet for a cytopoint shot. It began helping immediately.  He will continue those as needed.  No dog should be miserable if something can be done about it. And so much can be done. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿพ

WHERE’S MOM?

I rarely leave home overnight.  But I’ve had done it twice this summer.
Are you looking for me Paddington?

Cinnamon is confused.

Piper is my  sidekick so he doesn’t know what to do.

Olivia is playing tug of war at a friend’s house.

I stayed in a little cottage.  It was pink!
It was all decorated in 1950’s style. Hanging beads, pictures everywhere.
It was spotless and adorable.
It was like going back in time.
My husband was home w the dogs.
I’m hoping they will all forgive me for being gone. ❤️๐Ÿ˜‚
 I’m almost there!!
