BUFFY LULU--- SWEET ONE

Buffy Lulu loves her mom and dad.  

She has dementia and sometimes, she just wants her daddy to hold her.  

Being held close gives comfort.    It's kind of like being in a thunder shirt-- but BETTER.

Buffy came to us in April 2009.  She was about a year old. 

She had been bred and was out of our area but she needed to be out of where she was.   For safety.

So she came to Virginia and was adopted by my friends Joy and Don 

She has had a life of love for almost 14 years now. ❤️

It's hard to believe it's been that long.   Sometimes, it just seems like a moment ago.

Buffy has so many outfits and sweaters.  

She always has a beautiful harness on.

She is so cherished.

She may be a senior-- but the love is still there.   Precious girl.  

SNUFFLE—BAD HAIR DAY

Every Peke has bad hair days.  And Snuffle is no different. 

Snuffle usually looks beautiful but when the humidity is down or it’s windy, oh my!  Snuffle is a honorary PVPC Peke.  His mom and dad have adopted several from us.  Snuffle came from another group but we say he’s part of us. 

Her brother Schmoo says, “don’t worry about it.   It’s just hair!”  🤣

SUNDAY AND READING AND REST

My daughters are avid readers-- we all love to read.   Granger decided he would help.  Isn't that the most precious face!  

Tuk Tuk wants to take Sunday off.  He's all for hanging out with his mom.  Or his kids.  Or his dad!

This face though...... Oh, my Tuk Tuk did you eat a lemon?  😂

Now he's better.   Mom's sitting and Tuk Tuk is content.  Now, you go have a restful day, too.  
 

ADOPTING THE PERFECT DOG

First, none of the dogs are on this blog are available.  They may have been part of my life and some have been adopted.  Some aren't here anymore, but each was loved.

Are they triplets?  No, but each was special.   And each had health issues.  Allergies, temperament issues, spine issues.    

You all know Zoey-- she's part of our program and we thought she'd be easy to adopt.   Her health issues meant on going care, and some issues mean they stay in rescue.   (We don't normally keep a dog as a permanent foster unless they simply should not be adopted.  We are tightening those paramenters.)

Granger was just about perfect.   He was adopted by my daughter-- and he's wonderful.  But, at 8 years old, he developed heart issues that have required a specialist and medications.  Is he perfect-- my

daughter would say so.  

 
Starlight was one of my fosters.  She had personality issues.  Yep, she did.   She was temperamental and picky about who she would like and who she wouldn't.  And she had no problem nipping at your ankles.  Ask the people who met her at a picnic.   Did I say, "let's make her a permanent foster?"  No, I didn't.   I adopted her.    She was my girl and she let me know.   We had her ten years.  Wonderful years!!

Tuk Tuk-- well, he's perfect.  No special medical care-- oh, wait.  He injured his eye, and required special care.      The dogs we have in our rescue-- that any rescue has-- are not perfect.  If you want a "medical free" dog-- you won't ever find one.   They will have digestive issues, ear issues, special diets for some, and vet visits to ophthalmologists and others.   So, if you think, "I'll adopt a rescue who has had all his medical taken care of" you are thinking that rescue can make a dog perfect.  And it just isn't so.   We try.  We do all we can, but with every dog, there will be on going vet care, and things that happen.   Plan for it.    And that is something that people need to think about before they adopt.   

Paddington came to us-- and we call him "Bad Pad" although he's doing much better.   Every dog needs care, every dog needs visits to the vet and good food, and regular bloodwork and heartworm tests and so much more.  If you want the perfect dog, they don't exist.  But, they have perfect love to give.

Paddington has been here, with Piper, almost four years.  

He’s almost seven years old. 

I brought him to the picnic in 2019. 

He’s been w so many foster dogs but I’m not bringing any into my home right now. 

Paddington likes that.  

Paddington is still a daddy’s boy. 

He still likes to beg. 

He’s still cuddly. 

He still a sweet boy. Even if I do call him “bad Pad.”  🤣

Yep, he’s our boy.  ❤️

 

CHANGE A PETS LIFE DAY--CHANGE MAKERS

January 24 was "CHANGE A PET'S LIFE DAY."   So many of you HAVE changed a pet's life.   And I wanted to share some pictures that you posted.

Dallas are still available for adoption.   Rescue has helped them so much-- but they want to be adopted as a pair, and we want that, too.    They are really sweet boys!!

Muffie came to us and what a difference rescue has made for her.  She had never been cared for-- so we began the process.  She had to have two mammary surgeries.   She had one dental, but has to go to a specialist for the rest of her dental.    Never having care had resulted in mouth infections that took a toll on her mouth.  Mouth infections can also cause heart issues.  

Francey now Sushi is about to be adopted.   She just has to finish her spay which is next week.  

Yogi was Sushi's owner's previous Peke-- also adopted from us.   He passed away after a stroke and now Sushi is mending his mom's heart.  

Sweet Tater has a second dental on the bottom of her mouth soon.  Then, she'll be ready for adoption in February.  She is so sweet!!

Bella were adopted in 2017.   They were so sweet and their owner is just crazy about them!!   

Later, Winston and Gizmo joined the family.   Their mom (and her daughter) have adopted Pekes from us and are such great people!  

Lady and Louie -- both PVPC alumni.   Yes, a difference was made in their lives.   And their mom is my friend.   I have made such wonderful friends through rescue.  

You all know Tuk Tuk-- "THE TUK"-- he's joy wrapped up in a little body.

His brother Granger is a sweetheart, too.  Just not as exuberant!    It would be hard to be more exuberant than Tuk Tuk.

And Jake were all PVPC alumni.   Their lives were changed-- and so were the lives of the people who adopted them.   💞

Lil Man is living in Richmond now.   Oh, he loves his daddy!
