ROAD TRIP FOR BLOSSOM

Blossom met Molly today-- she is going to be her foster mom.  Molly posted this picture after we met yesterday.
But, earlier, I got Blossom from my friend who was taking care of her.
She was starting to be less stressed and then she made another move.   It's hard sometimes!
Molly and Dad were so excited to foster her.  And I was thrilled for Blossom to have a quiet, loving place to be.
After Blossom left, I had lunch at Cracker Barrel with my daughter and two grandsons.
Drill Bit is the happiest boy-- all the time!  Five people asked us if they were twins.
Beach Bit was having fun, too!
Would you like a drink, Blossom.   Your new life is beginning!  Thank you, Molly, for helping her!

FACEBOOK

Rammi wonders what happened to our facebook page yesterday.
Beach Bit was contemplating where it went!
Camden was running to find it!   It had disappeared.
We use the facebook page to help our foster Pekingese like Little Girl above.
It was set up as an individual page and facebook told us it needed to be an organizational page.   Chloe was just bummed about that!
We have it set up again at https://www.facebook.com/potomacvalley.pekingeserescue.   MacKenzie is beside himself with joy!
Pepper is running so she can check it out!
Gus is not concerned-- he's too laid back to worry about facebook.
But, Koko wants everything to be on track so people can get updates on her.
Rammi and Lexie say if you were friends on the old facebook page, just go to the new link and make sure you are still our "friend."    You don't want to miss our updates on the Pekes we are trying to help.   That would be terrible!    :-)

WELCOME TO BLOSSOM

Blossom just came into rescue.    She was found next to her deceased owner and was traumatized.   We couldn't even find out her real name-- so she was named Blossom by the shelter and we kept it for now.
My friend, Susan, went to pick her up for me.   She is also keeping her at her home until tomorrow when we can take her to meet her foster mom.
Blossom just needs time to feel safe and she will be able to do that in her foster home.
She went to the vet and her bloodwork is great.   She is about 5-6, so  has a lot of years to be a happy girl.
She needs to go on a diet-- she weighs 22 pounds!    Big girl.   She doesn't seem to know what  a food bowl is, so she must have been hand fed.   She'll have to learn what a bowl is. :-)
She does have a bladder infection, so she is being treated for that.   Most of the dogs we take in have a bladder infection.  Pekingese can't eat "junk"-- they need good food.    She has been licking her feet, which is why they are so dark.    We can help that, too.
I think she has a great future in front of her.  Welcome to rescue, Blossom!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAX!

Max came into rescue in 2008 with his sister, Maggie.  They were found in a field where they had been dumped.
Six years ago--- they were both so young!
I look at the picture and can't really remember when he wasn't gray in the face.   Maggie and Max are both eleven now.    Maggie was adopted, but no one took Max.
Max, here with Kai Kai, LOVES toys.    He is the toy monster in our house.  If another dog has a toy-- Max must have that toy.   It doesn't matter that there are a multitude of toy choices.  Nope, he has to have the one someone else has.
He was a good sport when I was taking autumn pictures one year.    Look at that sweet face.
He loves looking outside-- here he was on the deck before we tore it down.
He rode in the doggie stroller on a vet visit.
He's been part of birthday parties.
He has helped Beach Bit at the playhouse--why was he putting one of Max's toys in the mailbox?
Max is older now-- but still in great health.
Happy Birthday, sweet Max!    I'm so glad you stayed.

PADDY

Paddy came into rescue last year.   We were asked to take him by a shelter who said he was a Pekingese.   We didn't get any pictures and took him "on faith."   He wasn't a Peke.
He was adopted and now lives with Nicky-- who is his best friend.     Nicky is about 10 now, and doesn't play a lot, but they are still buddies.
Paddy doesn't let it bother him-- there are plenty of things to play with.
He finds toys and spreads them around-- ready to be attacked again.
I think the toys all won this time!    He gave up and went to sleep. :-)

LIFE IS BUSY

I am busy all the time.  Sometimes, I just want to SIT and watch an old movie.  Or sleep.  But, rescue keeps me busy.  My grandson keeps me busy.   Life keeps me busy.
And of course, foster dogs keep me busy.
But, now we are even busier!    You see, our neighbors moved this week.  They lived in their home 37 years and we've known them since we moved to the street over 16 years ago.   They were wonderful!
The movers were fabulous!   The driver let Beach Bit get into his truck! WOW.
Beach Bit blew the horn-- that was loud!
I'm amazed that the driver and his men were so kind to Beach Bit and took time with him.   Beach Bit saw the inside of the truck with its bunk beds, refrigerator, TV, microwave, closet and Beach Bit was fascinated by the TRASH CAN.   (Why, I have no idea!)
Beach Bit had a blast watching them for 3 days, packing, moving furnitue.
He sat on the front porch to have a good view.
This picture was taken in the spring-- now the house is empty.  But, not for long.   Beach Bit is moving in!
 So is Maddie...
 So is Leo....
They will all have a new home!
Pandy, at about 14-15, can be just old, but she has already explored her new home and yard.   We'll be painting this week-end, and helping them to start moving over from their other home.  They be just across the street from us (and my sister lives next door to me).     Dogs, kids, grandkids, moving, foster dogs, my own dogs---- life is BUSY!
