DICKENS
Dickens was in the second group of the Christmas pups. He came about January 3.
He was incredibly thin when he came. There were four in that group. Dickens, Mistletoe, Winter, and Fizziwig (not in the picture). Dickens has no fat on his body.
They stayed in a pile as they figured out what life was going to be. They began to relax and realize they were safe and loved.
As others went to foster homes and forever homes, Dickens stayed here.
He had health issues-- his eyes needed special care, he couldn't walk at first (and I still do therapy with him), he needed to absorb nutrients (which is hard when the digestive tract is compromised). He did gain weight after a few months.
We continue to work on his skin, and we have made progress. It is something we will continue to work on. He gets antibiotics and a cytopoint shot today.
He is so good about baths and blowing him dry. He is good about all his eye meds.
He is not aggressive, even when Paddington tries to take his toy. (Paddington got it but then found another, which made Dickens very happy.)
As Dickens has been here over 8 months and we continue to work on his health needs, we made a decision. Dickens will stay here as a permanent foster.
Many people won't consider a special needs boy, but I adore him. He's fine right here.
He gets along with all my dogs and he is part of the family here. So Dickens-- WELCOME HOME!
