MORE AUTUMN PEKES

Cosi is one of Beth's Pekes.  Beth is on our PVPC board and she has four that she has adopted from us.  (Her beloved Wylie died this year, but he has participated in the past.)
Melinda, in Australia sent me a picture of her girl, Coco.  She's a beautiful little girl!
Beth's Missy, Cosi, Lily, and Ted-- lined up and ready.   I wonder if they greeted the trick or treaters like this.
Liliang Xin "Lily" was treated for heartworms when she came into rescue.  Her name means Strong Heart which Beth thought was a good choice for her.  Plus, she's a little beauty!
Missy-- I remember when Missy came into rescue.   Her ears were fringed with pink.   We tried, but could never find her owner.   She sure loves her mom and dad now!
Ted is adorable!  I love his hat.   And his kerchief!
Ted can have a lot of names depending on his mood-- he can be Ted, Teddy, Teddy Bear, Theodore, Theodorable (I love this one!) or Theodiablo!   Whatever you call him, he sure is cute!!

BRADLEY ADOPTED

Bradley came into rescue with his brother, Bentley.   They didn't need to stay together.
Bradley did great in his foster home-- but his new home was waiting.
On Monday, three of my Pekes went to Paula's to meet Bradley's new mom and dad.    They drove almost five hours to get him!   Starlight was all set to explore.
My three had been to the ophthalmologist and we went straight to Paula's.
Kai Kai had gone along so that he could visit the friends at the ophthalmologist who had done all his surgery and taken great care of him.
Lu, Paula's PVPC alumni, was not too sure about the Pekingese invasion.
 Kai Kai explored the yard.
Bradley met his new dad-- he has come so far getting healthy and I know he will continue.  They will send us updates.  (I love updates!)
Groups of Pekes were all over-- it was Peke heaven!
 Three at the tree...
Starlight and Cooper (am I right, Paula?) were hanging out.  Starlight was actually nice at the vet and at Paula's-- a miracle!).
They all wanted to meet Bradley's new mom.
And she enjoyed meeting all of them.
Lu hid behind the deck fence.  He's SO cute that I just wanted to kiss him, but he only loves his mom.
 Come on, Lu.
 Not happening!
Bradley will have a new sister within the week.   He will have a wonderful playmate and home.  I love happy adoptions!

MAKE IT A JOYFUL YEAR!

My crew wanted to make a donation in memory of Joyful Grace.   Kai Kai and Chumley are both PVPC alumni (they all are!) and they want to help.
Whoops, that's not a Peke, but she loves the Pekes here.
Floyd wants the end of the year donations to come on in.
Starlight, the Princess, thinks her cuteness might help.
Max doesn't care either way haha.
Tucker's family is making a donation, too, so maybe I can get a picture of his entire doggy family.   If you make a donation of any amount this month or/and next month, and send me a picture of your dog/dogs, I'll post their picture on this blog, which will be reposted every few days as new pictures/donations come in.   I hope it ends up being a really long blog!   You can make a donation in memory of one of your beloved Pekes, or for one that you have now.   It can be to honor someone you love.   Once you make a donation, send me a picture/name of your pet to haveninhim@aol.com   We want to end this year with JOY!
Paws, Barbara Mudd's heart dog, is now on our list!  His mom made a donation to help our Pekes.  She is becoming active in helping us with rescue and has a lot of knowledge that is great!!

SWEET PETE

Richmond Animal Control asked us if we would take this owner turn in.   The owners has obviously never cared for him.  He was unneutered and had a lot of issues-- how could he have been like this for so long?
He had a bath, to get rid of fleas and dirt and he did fine. (Tiffany got in the shower with him!  The things foster parents do!!)   But, he had huge mats all over his body.
His nails were so long they were embedded in the pads of his feet, causing infection and pain.
He had a good meal and a soft place to sleep.
He went to the vet on Monday morning.
You can see the masses behind his ears, and they were also underneath, causing him pain when he walked.   He is an old boy, and he is blind.  He is underweight and has a heart murmur, but he likes other dogs!   He even tried to play with one of his new friends at Tiffany's.
Unfortunately, he has a mass on his back end and also a mass in his mouth that has already dislodged some of his teeth.  It is probably cancer.   But, we will give him pain meds (he also had an antibiotic shot) and keep him comfortable for the time he has.   He may surprise us and live a long time.   As a rescue, we are committed to helping him while he is with us.   Sweet Pete, welcome to rescue!

FAREWELL JOYFUL GRACE

Joyful Grace came into rescue last November, so we've had her almost a year.
She has had comfort and love, good food and great care provided by Acredale Animal Hospital (Virginia Beach) and her foster mom, Sherry.
When she came to us, her skin was horrible, and she was a defeated little girl who didn't even weight ten pounds.
She had an outpouring of love from people who fell in love with her, so there was no lack of outfits for her to wear.
She even had a huge bed donated to her and she could leap into it.
She loved all her blankets and was alert and happy.
Her foster mom adored her and even took days off to care for her.
Joyful Grace was at the vet, and inspired everyone there.
I visited her quite a few times and she had such a sweet spirit.   In the last few weeks, she had lost her appetite,  She has been having diahrea and vomiting and the light was going out of her eyes.   She was not okay.   Her little body was giving up.
Joyful loved her special blankets, outfits and toys.  She snuggled on them as she rested.
I saw her last night, and she was having difficulty breathing.
Her lungs were filling with fluid, despite all the medications she was on.  She was in congestive heart failure.   Joyful Grace died at home last night, surrounded by her doggy friends and her foster mom.  She gave it all she had and lived longer than we ever thought she would.   She was loved by so many.
We will all miss you, Joyful Grace, but none as much as your foster mom.   Run free now, little girl.  You are whole now.
