BUILDING A FENCE

The dogs were very concerned yesterday. It was a stressful day.
Last night, Dickens was exhausted.
So was Cinnamon.  In fact we all went to bed early.
Yesterday there were strangers in the yard!  That was scary for the dogs.
They removed the very old fence and put in new posts. The dogs were very concerned.
We couldn’t go out back so we walked in front.  Cinnamon did not like being away from the yard she felt safe in.  In fact she stopped and I had to carry her back inside.  Cinnamon is not brave at all.  I’ll have to carry her to the side of the back yard so she will feel safe.
I can’t wait til the gate and fence are back. Neither can Cinnamon.
Walking these two is an adventure. They wanted to go both directions at the same time.
For now, they will just have to watch from the porch.
Today, Dickens is just going to let them know he wants his yard back!

CHARLOTTE OF THE WEST VIRGINIA 6

Remember Charlotte of the West Virginia 6?
We took them into rescue in February 2024.  They had been above the population line in the mountains a long time.   We don't know how they survived.  But they did and they are all flourishing now.
Charlotte's foster family decided that she was already home   Our foster homes have first chance of adopting them.  And hers did!  (Of course all our foster homes have gone through the approval process.)
Charlotte is BEST friends with Babykins the cat.   They are both multi color and both love each other.
Charlotte has many expressions: happy, content, inquisitive, sleepy.
And she is definitely a daddy's girl.  I think he fell in love with her as soon as she arrived.
Knowing how loved and content she is has made all the rescues a part of my heart.  💜

WHEN IT RAINS

When it rains, none of my dogs will go out. We were supposed to get rain Thursday. Nope. Friday. Nope.
It was supposed to rain early Saturday. It finally began later in the day.  Belly bands in use!  I picked an autumn style for Dickens.  No dog wanted to go out in torrential rain.
My grand-dogs wouldn’t go out in it. Gigi watched from the porch.
Tuk Tuk loves the yard. He would run in it if he was allowed.  When it stopped, I’m sure he was out in it.
Dave gets bored- he did this before the rain came.   That will teach his mm to keep the mattress pad on.  ðŸ˜³.  Then it began to rain.
Dave doesn’t like thunder so he was probably on his mom’s lap. Almost 100 pounds of him.  My Piper is the same. He just wants to be held during storms.  It’s calm now.  Everyone is chilling.  No rain in sight. 🌧️⛈️

SMILES AND TONGUES

There's something so endearing about Peke faces.
When Paddington gives me this look, he can have anything he wants.
Zeke can give the same toothy grin.
Tuk Tuk too!  He can have all kinds of faces. :-)

And then there are the tongues.  Some just can't keep them in their mouth.  Kringle has a tongue that is long.  And with missing teeth, there's just no way to keep it in his mouth.
Bethany shows her tongue just because she's smiling.
Noelle Nono is just happy with her family and her toy.
Holly is smiling too-- she loves her new family.
I love this picture of Granger and Tuk Tuk-- double tongue licking.
Jellybean keeps her mouth closed, but Snickerdoodle must be missing some teeth, too.

Cinnamon and Dickens like each other-- and Dickens is so happy to have so many friends.
I think Dickens is having some serious thoughts or contemplating something-- but I have no idea what he's thinking. I'm sure it's about food or toys-- he loves both.
These dogs are just too cute!  💜

SNOW NOSES

Some of the Christmas dogs had light colored noses.
Dickens has one.
Holly doesn’t have one.
Bethany, what about you?  Some noses can get lighter in the winter and darker in the summer.
Jingles mom messaged me and said his nose was getting darker during the summer. It was light when we got him in December. So why is it doing that?
If the nose does this, it could be “snow nose.”  Sunlight (or lack of it) and genetics can be part of that.  I would think it would get light w more sun but it’s the opposite.
If you adopted one of the Christmas dogs— like Tulip above—let us know if they have a snow nose.  We know that many of these dogs were related so there may be a lot of snow noses. ❄️❄️

BISCUIT AND MUFFIN

Biscuit came into rescue in 2018. He was barely a year old.  I had a perfect family for him.  They had adopted before and were ready for another.
After Biscuit arrived, his best doggy friend passed away. He wanted a new friend and his family rescued a Pug named Muffin.

Muffin and Biscuit are best friends.
Biscuit is 9 years old now. His human sister has grown up w him. ❤️. Best friends.
I’m so glad Biscuits family sends me updates!  They warm my heart. ❤️

KRINGLE--SHEDDING?

Kringle was in the first group of the Christmas rescue.  He wasn't in good shape and was very thin.
But, look at him now.  He's gained weight and has a beautiful coat.  In fact, he's so "healthy" that he has to go on a little diet.  😟 We won't tell him that and maybe he won't figure it out.
Kringle had a bath last week. He was watching his mom fold towels and not put them in the closet. He saw her put them on the side of the tub and decided to go to bed.🤣
I guess sometimes they just have to "suffer" through it.
Kringle has some new cousins in his family.  Harmony is a boxer mix.  His face is adorable.  She is a rescue.
This 2-year-old Dane/Shepherd mix is Missy.  She needs her own area in the car and she's helping give directions, I think.  Kringle will meet them at some point and I'm sure they'll all get along.  The family already is in love with them.
Kringle's family is all about dog rescue.  Another generation in his family have joined rescue for adoptions.   YAY! Kringle is shedding a lot.  Kringle, we're going into autumn, so why are you getting rid of hair.  Tuffs of hair-- known as "puppy petals" in his family--are all over.  LOL

Did you know that a group of Pekes is called a Pomp of Pekingese?  Me either.  That is a silly fact that may come in very helpful one day!   I guess I have a pomp group here.  😉   Kringle has come so far since his rescue.  Seeing the changes in this group is amazing-- and heartening.   They are now a beautiful, healthy group of pups.
