SLEEPING PEKES AND OTHERS

I want to thank everyone who prayed for my grandson. He saw the neuro-surgeon this week and received a "clear." :-) He still has healing to do, but only has to be followed up by his pediatrician now. THANK YOU for praying for him!!!

Look what I woke up to on Thursday! Snow! Again! We've had more snow this year in Virginia than we have had for many years. So, Melinda, in Australia, I hope this cools you off some!

And now we get into the real blog. Sleeping Pekes and other critters! This is my Scooterbug. His tongue is just too big for his mouth. So, it hangs out-- a lot. About an inch! Or more! He's so cute.

And I wouldn't want this sleeping critter in my house.

But, this one is sure cute!

Oh, this one is adorable-- but it's not a Peke.

This one is! And he's about to disappear in that dog bed.

Melinda, this is for you-- have you seen Koalas in person. I'm sure you have.

Lacy is asleep in her pink bed.... with a blanket!

And this dog doesn't fit in his bed, but she sure is comfortable!

Nick and Noelle (aka Marcellus and Mia) are ready to snooze.

This kitten is sound asleep. I'm not sure how-- or if he just slid right off and curled up on the carpet later.

NICK AND NOELLE

First, I want to wish Marian a happy birthday! She's mom to Cosmo, above, and Winston. Cosmo was adopted from us almost 8 years ago. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Nick and Noelle came into rescue in December. They both had more fleas than the initial vet has ever seen on a dog. Noelle didn't seem to be allergic (just annoyed!), but Nick was allergic and had lost much of his hair on his back.

Noelle and Nick were underweight, but we knew we could fix that! They were both young, around one year old or so.

Now they live together! That one of our dreams-- to see bonded pairs remain together, and their new mom adopted them both. Noelle is snuggled up in her plush dog bed with bows in her ears.

Here's a closer look! She wants you to see how pretty she is.

Her new mom and sister are snuggled up on the couch. Many Pekes do great with children! And this is a sweet child.

They watch TV together-- okay, so Noelle isn't watching, but she's there.

She did wake up for a group picture though.

I think Nick is about to fall asleep. Wake up, Nick!

They are so glad to be together. Two peas in a pod-- or Pekes, that is! Nick is now Marcellus and Noelle is now Mia-- they just went from N's to M's. :-)

STARLIGHT AND BEACH BIT Part 2

Yesterday you saw how I had to put two bouncey seats out for Starlight and Trenton. Well, today, I just had one near my desk. And I put Beach Bit into it. Starlight didn't see hers, so she just jumped in with Beach Bit. Can you see him? He's under there. (Don't worry, he wasn't startled or afraid or hurt. He's very comfortable with Starlight.)

"Hey, Moppy (my grandmom name), it's a little crowded here."

"Can you get her bouncey seat so she'll move?"

That's better-- two seats for two little ones. Beth, one of our foster moms (and a great one!) said, "Every dog has a special mission---apparently Starlight found hers!" This is so true!

Gracie Lu saw the blog yesterday and sent me this email: "Gracie is now upset. After she saw Starlight's baby, she thinks I should get her one too. Those pictures are delightful and it seems that Trenton realizes he has a protector in his Starlight. What a long way she has come since that Christmas you took her in." Yes, Starlight has come a long way from the "mean dog who doesn't like children." HA! She loves them! Especially all the Bits!

STARLIGHT AND BEACH BIT

Last week, my grandson, Beach Bit, was in the hospital. Starlight wondered where her boy was. She LOVES Beach Bit and gives him lots of kisses and foot licks daily. He wasn't here and she knew something was wrong. And Mom was gone at lot during the day (I was at the hospital). Starlight wanted to know what was going on!

Beach Bit is back at our house during the day now. And he has a new bouncey seat-- all strapped in which you can't see since he's always holding on to a towel or wash cloth. He loves them!

Starlight has his old bouncey seat. She loves that thing! When I put Beach Bit into his, she was ready to jump in with him, so I ran and got hers.

And they sat side by side in the kitchen while I had my coffee.

And Starlight noticed he was RIGHT BESIDE HER. Oh, this was too good. She was thinking........

I think I want to see him closer. Maybe I can lean in.....

And he sees her coming!

And then Starlight gives him a big kiss!!

YUCK! What was that?!

Starlight thinks Beach Bit is HER baby. She lays under his swing, checks on him, kisses him, and gives him lots of attention.

And Beach Bit is just fine with that.

He is surrounded by Pekingese and he's just fine and so are they. Life is good! (And busy!)

GABRIEL UPDATE

Gabriel was a Peke who was severely injured by his owner. He was taken to the shelter and the shelter immediately took him to emergency vets. They didn't know if he would make it.

But, he did. He lost sight in one eye, but now he lives with a new family and loves his life. He went out in the snow and then tried to shake it off. Don't want to take snow into the house. (Mine don't know that rule.)

He loves to play with toys and this one must be his favorite. He's come a long way from the abused dog he was a few months ago.

He now has a boy to play with and he is obviously loved very much.

He has a new mom who takes him to pet stores to pick up new toys and visit others.

She fostered him and couldn't let him go. I can see why! I'm so glad Gabriel is okay. Our sister rescue, Mutts Matter, took care of his medical care. They are a great group!! Thanks for all you did for him!

BELLA AND RUBY UPDATE

Remember Ruby and Bella? We really wanted to keep them together. And they are! They love their new owners. He sent us these pictures at Christmas and I forgot to put them on. But, Bella and Ruby think it is Christmas all year round.

They cuddle up to sleep-- their mom can't move, but she is okay with that.

Ruby is so pretty-- and look at those bright eyes.

Here's what their new owners sent to us: "Ruby and Bella are doing wonderfully, and we love them so much. Bella has learned to play with toys and has a favorite turtle that she carries around. Ruby has yet to discover toys, but loves to sit in laps for hours on end. They are both doing great and we are so thankful that we have them!" This is what we want for all our foster dogs!
