WELCOME TO RESCUE EMBER

Ember came into rescue last Thursday night.   She was in rough shape and very thin.
She was under 11 pounds because she had been abandoned, but she's eating great now.   She was peeking on the stairs.
Charlie (formerly Marshmallow, PVPC alumni), joined her a little further down.
Ember saw the vet this week.   She had her bloodwork and it was good.  YAY!
She needs a dental badly-- she will probably lose all her teeth.   Her bad mouth is probably what is causing the big sniffles-- fistulas might be in her mouth and those will be repaired.    We are trying to get her in quickly.
She also has a mass on her lip which will be removed and biopsied.   We hope it is nothing.
His foster mom has a jacket for her because it's been so cold.
For now, Ember is doing well.   She is eating and resting...  She's so sweet and seems to be housetrained.   She gets along with other dogs and is just a little joy.
Charlie is going to encourage her on all that is in front of her.
Her foster mom said, "Given all she's been through, she's got the spirit of a lion."   I love that.
Ember's care will be very expensive, but we will do what she needs.    WE ARE RESCUE. 💜

PEPPERMENT DOING GREAT!

Peppermint came into rescue  in December.   Her owner had a stroke and could no longer care for her.
We were told she only ate people food and that she didn't like other dogs.   Both haven't been the case.
She has calmed down and loves her foster home.  She is even doing well with Bandit, her foster brother.  They get along now and even share a big pillow.
She was shaved down after we got her, and now her hair is growing out and is so soft.
She saw the cardiologist because we wanted to make sure her heart was okay before a dental was done.    And her heart is doing well and no medications are needed!!
She is such a sweet, loving girl.   She will have a dental and then she will be available for adoption.  💜

BOGIE AND REY

Look at this pair!   Bogie and Rey-- they are just beautiful together.
Rey was part of the Maryland Five-- she was timid, but Bogie helped her so much.
I think it worked!
Bogie is so happy that Rey joined his family.
She has become a lap dog.  From a very timid girl when she came into rescue, ...
she is now a beloved member of her family.   We love this!

WELCOME TO RESCUE

We just got this little girl from a shelter on Thursday night.  She had been a stray and needs medical care.   We are still trying to decide on her name.   We have narrowed it down to a few.   As soon as we know what it is, I'll announce it!    Now she is safe in a foster home.   Welcome sweet girl!  💜
(If you have suggestions, feel free to put them in the comments.)

FAREWELL DIAMOND

Diamond came into rescue in June of 2022.   Her owner had died and she is in very rough shape.   She needed help.   Her skin was in critical condition and her eyes could not be saved.   With a lot of medical care, she became a healthy, joyful girl.
One of our previous adopters wanted to adopt her.  Diamond made the trip to their home and she settled right in.   She loved the fireplace.
I don't think she had ever had a birthday cake, but she had one last year.
She loved it!
She loved to nap, under her blanket.   She could snore!
Her parents adored her-- her mom said, "She is beautiful and seems quite happy. She will get so much love and attention every day!"
Diamond received so much love.   She was brushed everyday.   She LOVED her squeaky toysl   Since she was blind, she loved the sound they made.
Even if they didn't make noise, she still loved them.   She would tip over
the whole toy basket to get more.
Last Easter, she had her own Easter basket.   She was looking for toys.
At Christmas, she had her very own stocking.   It was filled with goodies.
She had a winter sweater.
Napping by the Christmas tree and dreaming of sugar plums was a great way to spend the day.
Diamond's mom loved her so much.   Rubbing her stomach, brushing her hair that had become so beautiful-- Diamond was cherished.
Diamond began coughing last week.   They immediately took her in and an xray showed fluid and a mass in her abdomen.   They had the fluid drained, but it came back quickly.   She needed to say good bye.   Her mom and dad held her as they let her go.   It was such a hard thing to do.   Her last year was so full of love.   We are so thankful for the wonderful home she had.   Run free now, sweet Diamond.

GUINNESS AND ROCKY

GUINNESS AND ROCKY

Guinness' mom goes to Florida in the winter.   So, Guinness is enjoying warmer weather than we are in Virginia.

Guinness is enjoying his time there.

He has a good friend there!   Rocky belongs to one of our friends and he is so sweet.

They call Guinness the "crown prince."  Sounds good!   He loves his new car seat.
Rocky is called "Rocky Rockstar."   He is young and full of energy.   Look at his car seat!  He is totally relaxed.
Both of them were groomed by Rocky's groomer who comes to his house.   I'm thinking there was playtime involved.
I'm so glad they have a good friend-- and their moms are good friends, too!   I just wish I could join them at their favorite restaurant.  That would be awesome.

CINNAMON HAS A DENTAL

Cinnamon Cookie came into rescue six weeks ago.
She was in a shelter in the western part of Virginia.  She was turned in w 4 other Pekingese.
Cinnamon settled right in at my house.  She needs a quiet home.  She is terrified of sudden noise.
She didn’t play w toys when she came.  But she discovered them and loves them.
She has a ramp to get on the couch.  And she loves to snuggle in blankets for a nap.
Cinnamon had a dental yesterday.  I knew that she was missing teeth and her lower front teeth weren’t there.   X-rays showed her mouth was kind of a mess.  Some teeth were missing but the roots were still there and some of the roots were starting to come through the gums.   Not good.  We thought she might need two dentals since it looked like a lot of roots would need to be removed.  But the vet dentist was amazed how easily they came out so it was all done in one session.   It’s so important to take care of our dogs teeth.
Cinnamon needs soft food for awhile. No problem there.
Piper and Paddington were so excited when she came home.
It was a sweet reunion.
She will be just fine.  I’m so glad PVPC could help her. 💖
