DOGS—BUYING A HOUSE

When you have dogs, you have to consider what their housing needs are.  Paddington has really bad back patellas (knees). They've been that way a long time, but the specialist said he wasn't a surgical candidate.   Stairs are hard for him.   Going up is a real struggle.  He has learned to wait for me to carry him.
Dickens has spine issues.  He was partially paralyzed when he came into rescue, and laser and meds and treatment really helped.   He began walking again.  Then his back went out again earlier this month.  He is doing better now.  His back sways from side to side as he walks, He will continue to have issues.  Stairs are no good for him either.
Piper is almost 11 and he has some patella and arthritis issues.   He would do better in a house that has one floor.
So what did we do?
We began looking for another house.  And if we were going to move, why not move closer to our kids. Houses in that area were mostly 2 stories.  One story homes were few and they went fast.
Our daughter sent a picture of this one in January.  It had just come on the market, so we went the next day to see it.   It was just what we needed AND it was less than a mile from one of our daughters.  Our other daughter would be much closer, too.  As you see, it's one story.
We closed on the house yesterday!   We haven't moved our furniture in because we might make some changes first.  We'll be doing a lot of painting in our current house and just go back and forth until we sell this one.
We're not really buying a house for the dogs, but they will be much happier without stairs.  AND some of the grandkids will be over a lot and the dogs will love that.
So we bought a house for us AND the dogs.   I think we are going to love it!  🏡
