MAC

This is Mac. He was "found" in NC and the person wanted to give him to rescue. After years doing rescue, I sometimes can sense that what is being told is not the truth. We think it was the owner's dog and she just didn't want him anymore.
He was a sweet boy, and had some eye issues and a friend who has a rescue group took him in since we were so full at the time.
He was checked out and had vision problems in one of his eyes, but it didn't get in his way. He was sweet and just wanted a home.
I love his little crooked grin!
He was helped and went into a wonderful foster home.
He's GREAT! His foster family adopted him. It's another "foster failure." haha I'm so glad he was saved!!! THE RESCUE GROUP HE IS WITH SENT ME AN EMAIL-- I HAD HIM CONFUSED WITH ANOTHER ADOPTED DOG. MAC IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. YOU CAN GO TO WWW.MUTTSMATTERRESCUE.COM IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

FAREWELL ANNIEBELLE

Anniebelle had been a member of Tracey's family since she was small. She was a perfect little girl.
Her eye began to give her trouble and Tracey took her to the specialist. After drops and tests, Anniebelle had her eye removed. Unfortunately, it also showed she had cancer. Tracey had hopes that Anniebelle would rally, but the cancer had already spread.
Tracey hoped for more time with her, and she just wanted her to be happy and feel good.
Annibelle's human brother gave her so much love also-- as did the rest of the family.
Annibelle had time to roll around and play and be loved on. It just wasn't as long as her family hoped for.
They had to say good-bye to Anniebelle on Friday. They wanted her to be out of pain and free in heaven. It takes so much love to let them go when they need to be released-- but we often are not ready. We are so very sorry for your loss, Tracey. REST IN PEACE, SWEET ANNIEBELLE.

UPDATE ON MY GRANDSON

I want to thank all of you for praying for Beach Bit, my almost 5 month old grandson, who decided to do acrobatics out of his car seat on Monday morning. He was immediately seen by his Pediatrician and she thought everything was fine. But, as the day went on, he wasn't fine. We called her back and were told to take him to the children's hospital near us.
We did and it turned out he had a severe skull fracture. He was admitted to ICU and had an IV put in his tiny hand. We were devastated.
My daughter and her husband didn't leave his side and I was there most of the day each day.
His dog Leo missed him so much. He didn't know where his boy was.
Trenton was not happy to be there either (this is a older picture, not from the hospital-- I've never known a child who could perfect the pout like he does!).
We wanted our happy boy back!
He wanted to come home and have his bath time again-- and he LOVES his bathtime!
Beach Bit wanted to see Pandy again. She is his Peke mix.
She wanted him to come home-- it was sad without him.
Starlight wanted him to come back, too. She missed sharing the bouncey seat with him. Well, Beach Bit is home. He will be fine. We just have to be careful while his head heals. And we will just hold him a lot. (So, if you have Peke questions, just email potomacpekes@gmail.com, since I won't be on the computer as much.) I'll still get those emails, but so will Jeanne, and she's GREAT about getting things done. THANK YOU, JEANNE!! Thank you to all of you who emailed and put notes on facebook. We have the best rescue group ever!!!

FAREWELL, SWEET RUSTY

Little Rusty was saved from a life of abuse. He had been abandoned in a garage, eating wood to survive. Once he was adopted, he never wanted for anything again. His owner loved him so much and cherished every moment with him.
Here is what his owner wrote: "Unfortunately I have to report the passing of Rusty. He began to deteriorate 3 days ago and was unable to control his bowels and bladder, he stopped eating and playing and was not sleeping - just constantly tossing and turning because he couldn't get comfortable. He stopped wanting to go for a walk. Old age and previous abuse had taken its toll. Rusty was adopted from a shelter and he had been badly abused by his previous owner. For 3 nights I didn't sleep and spent hours watching my best buddy slowly worsen before my eyes. "
"It was too much to take, I couldn't do anything to help him and I felt terrible. Sunday night I watched him crawl around the kitchen, crying and deficating on himself - He looked at me with his big brown eyes, he wanted help. It was time. We went to the vet yesterday morning and Rusty went to the Rainbow Bridge."
"I will not sugar coat the experience, it was awful. My heart is broken, my best buddy and sidekick is gone, my house is empty. Everything happened very quickly and I thank God that Rusty did not suffer for a prolonged period of time. Time will heal and one day I might find a new Rusty. If you have space in your heart and house please consider adopting a Pekingese or make a donation to the Potomac Valley Pekingese Rescue group who do such a wonderful job saving our furry friends from abuse."

I've known Rusty's owner by email since he got him. I know what a fabulous owner he is and when the time is right, I would consider it an honor to help him find a new friend to live in his home. One friend send me this: I wish the Rainbow Bridge had a phone, so I could hear your bark again. I thought of you today but that's nothing new. I thought of you yesterday and the day before that too. I think of you in silence and often speak your name. All I have are memories, and pictures in a frame.. I love and miss you... " We wish for one more lick and one more hug and one more putting our face in their hair so we can breathe them in. It is hard to lose them, but the love they gave us is worth so much. REST IN PEACE, SWEET RUSTY.

PINK BEDS ALL OVER

THIS MORNING, please pray for my grandson Beach Bit, he is in the hospital. I'm headed that way now.
You know we have a lot of pink beds in our house. Why? Because I ended up with about 5 of them! I've given some away, but I have several left. Scooter is in one here. It's an area I had set up for a new arrival. Scooter thought it was a cool area.

My friends have pink beds for their dogs-- this is Lacy. She was one of our foster dogs who has a great home in Maryland. (I'll be doing a blog on her and her brother, Lafite, soon. They went to New York!)

Here she was a foster dog-- her pink bed in the picture before this one is so much nicer! (And she looks so great now as opposed to when we first got her.)

Lillie Faith in her pink bed with her toy-- isn't she cute! It looks like she has the same kind of pink bed as I have here.

Of course, Cubbie Woo got to use the pink bed when he was here-- boys and girls alike use the pink bed.

Legend, one of our newest -- and SWEESTEST-- fosters used it when he visited my house on Sunday night. I just wanted to kiss him! (I'll be doing a blog on his visit soon.)

This is Coco Puff-- she looks "bedraggled" but that's because I woke her up. WHAT, she seemed to say. She was all curled up, half in and half out of the pink bed while we traveled to her new home. (And she's doing GREAT there!!!)

But, the pink bed is not just for Pekingese. Beach Bit has used it. I think he looks very cute in it! I have one in the laundry room for the dogs-- but when I have to change things from the washer to the dryer-- well, sometimes, Beach Bit gets to rest there. He thinks he looked very dashing in it. Don't you think so?

I gave a pink bed to my daughter-- she has two Pekes, a shepherd mix and a cat-- and chickens and horses, oh, my. She lives at the FARM, which I do blogs on sometimes. Her cat, Charlie, decided he was a Pekingese so that he could qualify for the pink bed. He looks just fine there!!
