MIMI AT THE BEACH/

Mimi's mom sent me another picture-- this is her Peke friend, Ginnie. She was at the beach, too. Some Pekes love the beach, some of mine are terrified of the sound of the waves. Ginnie and Mimi adore it, though.Mimi was adopted from me six years ago. She has the best home in Maryland and she went to the beach. I bet it was on a cooler day than we are having now. She totally loved it and found herself a good place to rest. Stay cool, Mimi!

JANE AND GRACIE

This is Brandy showing off her Thundershirt. She has a fancy one. Well, Gracie Lu sent me an email about thundershirts. Here's what she said:
Dear Ms. Linda,
I am really worried about my MOM. That storm really upset her.
Didn't bother me a bit. I just laid down and slept but Mom was so nervous and I told her things would be okay and I would take care of her. I saw that you use thunder shirts for little Pekes who are scared of storms. Do you know where I can get a thunder shirt for my Mom? And do you think that might help her? Sure wish she would listen to me when I tell her things are going to be okay.
Love Gracie LUHere's what I wrote her back:
Gracie, I'm so glad you wrote me! I love your emails. Tell your mom the best "thunder shirt" is just to hold on to you. They don't make them in her size. Just doggy sizes. I'm so glad she has you for a best friend. And to give her comfort when there is a big storm!
Miss LindaGracie's mom also sent me pictures of the finished railings on her porch. Remember how hard Gracie worked to supervise them going in. Her neighbor put them in and Gracie's mom said that good neighbors are God's gift to us. They even had a ribbon cutting! Now it's safer to walk down the steps. I'd like some of those on my steps. They look great-- you did a wonderful job, Gracie Lu!

This Peke was saved from death row. Here is his story!http://rogerabrantes.wordpress.com/2012/05/17/odie-the-pekinese-awaiting-on-death-row/

GIZZY UPDATE

Here are some more pictures of sweet Gizzy, who came into rescue in Roanoke. Just look at that face.We can't believe he was just left in the yard when his owners moved."Woe is me.""I'm just kidding-- I'm fine now."Here's what Gizzy wrote to all who helped him (Roger helped him to write it): Dear Lord, I want to thank you for guiding all the people to help me.To help me get out of that back yard. To help me get out of that shelter before the unthinkable happened. I appreciate your hand allowing the people to help me.I appreciate all the love and attention I received. I appreciate the wonderful bath and haircut. I am so thankful to all the strangers who pulled together for me. I appreciate all the love and attention I received.I appreciate the wonderful bath and haircut. (And thank you all the people who sent her cards!) I am so thankful to all the strangers who pulled together for me. Who looked at me with their caring eyes and drove me to my foster parents. Thank you, Lord, for getting me all the medical attention I needed to feel better. Here I am praying-- Thanking the Lord and thanking all the people." Gizzy is alive because of all these people. Thank you to each one of you.

ANNIE

I have little Annie-- she is only 8.2 pounds. She's so tiny. She loves to be held, hasn't displayed any aggression at all. She just wants to be held and loved. She was spayed, had a cherry eye repair, had a dental (losing four teeth). She has an ear infection, and we have medicine for that, along with antibiotics, eye drops and pain meds. She will go to her foster home soon, but needs a lot of attention right now. I think she is younger than the estimated 6-7 years old-- once she is healthy and puts on some weight, we will see her true self come out. Oh, and someone docked her tail, so she just has this little wiggle when she wags it. She does wag it, because she is so grateful to have been saved. This is the part of rescue that makes my heart smile-- seeing a little life changed.

CHESTER AT THE OPTHALMOLOGIST

Chester went to the opthalmologist yesterday to see if there was anything we could do to help him. He is such a great dog! He acts like he can see. He can jump on the couch, play with the other dogs...He is so affectionate and easy to pick up since he is small. The opthalmologist did a lot of tests on him. She said he wasn't as old as we were told, that he was much younger. She said he was probably born with bad eyes, maybe with cataracts, and that he had been blind for a long time. There's nothing we can do to help him to see. Chester is so sweet, and he does not miss his sight. He is happy, joyful and would be a wonderful addition to any family. He is being fostered with a four year old and is so good with her. Chester is a special needs dog, but he just thinks he is special. If you would like to adopt this special boy, just let us know!I just wanted to add this picture. This is Cosmo-- he was my first foster dog almost ten years ago! He is so beautiful, and I love his teeth. I'm so glad his parents are my friends and I get to know how he's doing. He's getting gray, but he is still a very special boy.

LOOK WHO'S COMING

Look at this little girl. She is so small. I wasn't able to hold her, but as I talked to her, I could see her little tail trying to wag. She is at the shelter, but I'm getting her tomorrow! I just need to figure out what to name her. Any suggestions?
