Chance -- Back Again

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!!! DAD'S TO CHILDREN AND DOGS!

On the trip I took with Chance, we visited Richmond. It's funny how dogs can pay you NO attention. I noticed that all the dogs had their back to me!!

DiDi was on my lap-- with her back to me.

Jill Lee was in front of me-- you got it, with her back to me.

Allie was to the side, under a chair-- yep, with her back to me.

And sweet Chance! There was my sweet loyal boy-- but with his back to me!

Even George had nothing to say to me! Was there something really interesting going on in the back of the yard? I know Jeanne has a beautiful yard (on the previous blogs), but really. My feelings were hurt, my pride injured-- well, not really.


And then they began to turn around. Happy Day!!!

Jill Lee came up to be cute.

And cute she can be!

She is so sweet to Chance. Chance was hurt visiting someone briefly-- his eye had a small injury and his back was a little out. And Jill Lee never left his side-- the entire day while he rested! Don't worry, Chance will be fine.

Look at that face-- looks like a stuff animal with BIG EYES. Pekes all have big eyes, but Chance's eyes are captivating.

Chance had eye surgery while he was with me to remove the folds. He has had so many eye issues that the vet wanted to make sure that the folds did not irritated his eyes. Well, leave it to Chance to be allergic to the dissolvable stitches.

The vet took the stitches out and it was amazing how fast Chance's face stopped looking so red!!

Now Chance is ready for his new home. What a sweet addition he will be!

STARLIGHT AND MAX

At my house, there are multiple Pekingese. I've had "THE FIVE" for a long time now. (My Scooterbug and Cranberry, Starlight, Max and Maggie) Starlight has been here over 16 months-- she just refused to be adopted. She became her "baby cujo" self and no one adopted her. (She would have adjusted in a short time and become the most faithful dog ever, but no one could get past the "ugly self" that she portraited.) Then Max and Maggie came. Here's Max and Starlight taking a nap together.
It's nice and peaceful most of the time.

But now, Starlight and Max have a toy conflict going on. Whenever Max gets near Starlight, she leaps and barks and just makes a racket! She doesn't want his toy-- she just wants to yell! Look at this face-- does she LOOK like she would do that? I can tell she's claiming her innocence!

And here's sweet Max. With his ball in his mouth-- very normal. He has realized that when he gets close to Starlight, she raises a ruckus. Can you just see his tail wagging-- he KNOWS she is under that desk!

He intentionally goes near her now to get her to bark. She's hiding under the desk and he's getting closer.

He just eggs her on.

So what does she do??? She goes to her Daddy. He'll tell her how wonderful she is.

She has him wrapped right around her little paws.

So there-- you can just see her saying that, can't you!!

Starlight-- you're a mess!

This type of dog is known as a hybrid or "designer dog". We used to just call them Mixes!!! I could not find any pictures that weren't copyrighted, so you'll just have to imagine what it looks like!

Clarence and Roxy

Remember Clarence. He came into rescue in November, and his foster mom adopted him! He was a perfect fit, a sweet boy who no one wanted because his eyes were red. That was cleared up with drops, and he's beautiful!! We were so lucky to get him!

He loved being here but he loved his foster mom's house more!!

He has a best friend, named Roxy, who comes to play. They are great buddies.

I hope all our foster dogs get a home as great as his! Thanks, Kim!!

Gracie's Jobs Part 2

I told you the other day about Gracie's jobs-- like finishing her meals, protecting the street and helping supervise the workers next door.

She was able to go over for closer supervision. She is checking out the equipment here to make sure it's in good working order.

And she watching the workers go into the house-- I'm sure they're very clear of her critiques.

Maybe standing in the shade to supervise is a good idea. You know Pekes can get so hot in the sun.

And after all that work, it's time for a nap. She has a kennel she can hide out in but she rarely (if ever!) uses it. She also has enough toys for an army of Pekes (like most of our dogs!). I wonder if she stacks them like that on her own. I don't think so!! :-)

Remember that Chance and I left the farm? Here we go!

We went to Richmond so he could visit with Jeanne and her husband (our foster parents there) and their dogs.

And he would have lots of friends to be with! Here's Jill Lee, a sweet one for sure! She loves to give kisses.

And friends to walk the paths with. Chance is being followed by Hanna.

And rest with. Here's George, the patriarch.

And sweet Hanna is just watching Chance. She's very shy, so I was unable to pet her, but I could talk to her and tell her how wonderful she was.

Sweet DiDi resting is someone he can be friends with.

And Jeanne, his foster mom this week, will give him lots of attention.

Here he is with new friends, Jill Lee and Hanna. Let's see where this little stream of water is going.

I had mentioned in the previous blog (June 2) before how much I loved gazing balls. Well, DiDi, and her mom, Jeanne, gave me one!!!! I am so excited! Here is it-- I haven't found the perfect place for it yet, so I have put in on my coffee table where it is safe from dogs. A place outside where it will catch the sunbeams is what I'm looking for. But, I had to show you how beautiful it is.

This is Jeanne's gazing ball in her garden.

And the Koi pond-- notice the netting over it to keep the dogs safe. And to keep the birds out!

And there's goes Chance- he loved all the paths to walk on.

I took a picture of myself at one of the mirrors in the garden. It looks like a door to the next yard-- but it was just me!

And more mirrors on a garden "shed." The nicest garden shed I've ever seen!

And there he goes again! I think that's a toy beside him.

Is that a real bird in the cage? No, but it's sure cute!

CHance will check this spot out now.

And here's another path. He is having a blast exploring! All new sights and smells. And sounds-- but he can't hear them, only barking of the other dogs and whistles. It doesn't bother him a bit.

I loved this stone in their garden. Jeanne, what does this represent? (It's the day they got married!! A friend on Jeanne's wrote using a magic marker pen on the rock for them when they got married in the back yard. It kept fading so she took the stone and had it engraved so it would not fade. Don't you love this!)

More flowers to smell, more paths to explore.

And here's the Koi pond again-- Jeanne was throwing in cheerios to bring them closer to the surface. They love the cheerios!

Here's another water feature-- just gently tumbling out onto the stones below. Jeanne's husband made the little water feature using her Cake Pan holder top and a bucket for the bottom. She just loves that little fountain.

And now it's time for Chance to rest, and let the fan blow in his hair. Looks like a jet engine is blowing him-- and he's loving every second of it!

Yes, I think Chance will be very happy here!
