THANK YOU TO OUR VETERANS

As this Memorial Day ends, I want to say thank you to all who have served and given everything they have to give.

It is the VETERAN,  not the preacher,  who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN,  not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the
VETERAN,  not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN who serves under the Flag.  (author unknown)
Thank you to all who have served our country.

PEKE PICNIC-- HATS AND FLOWERS

If I've posted some of these pictures twice, forgive me-- I'm having so much fun with these blogs, that I can forget if I've posted a picture before.   This is Sammy-- he came to us via a shelter near me and was my foster.    His hair now is long, and full, and flowing-- wow!
His sister, Sybil, came to us and we had called her "Leap of Faith"-- she came to a club meeting and when Sally and David walked in, they said they had taken a leap of faith to get to the meeting-- weather or traffic-- but we took notice!    When we told them the name of the new foster dog, they had to have her.     Her name was changed to Sybil and she and Sammy are best friends now.
Jeanne (with the pony tail) and  I were able to see so many who we had met or fostered.    It was like a Peke reunion for us!
Bobby was one of our fosters.    He sure was happy to see all his friends!
He sat in amazement at the number of Pekes who came!
Sunny and Ladybug were dapper, for sure.
Oh, those flower hats just kill me!   I love it!   I don't know where Lucinda gets all these-- she has quite a collection and she shared it with all of us.   (She did share her pink pearl necklace, and somehow it stayed on one of the dogs who was at the picnic-- if you accidentally took it home, let us know, so we can get it back to her.)
Sunny was a great sheriff-- he's ready to ride and pull his bandana over his face to protect him.
I think this is  Buffy-- right?   His mom sure does love him!  I can see why!
Butters was adopted from us-- he was an albino Peke we took  in from a back yard breeder.    His mom saw him on our web site and just had to have him and he's lived with her,  his dad and his siblings ever since.  We couldn't have found a better home for him!
Hannah was there-- she's available for adoption.    She would love a playmate!
Looty was adopted from us-- he's beautiful!
He and his family had so much fun.
The Pekes (Biscuit in the e-collar) got together and shared memories and secrets.
Skipper is available for adoption-- he loves his foster mom, Tiffany, but would love to have his own home, too.
After sharing, they were ready to run!    Let's go have more fun!!!

FAREWELL CHYNA

Chyna was the beloved Pug-Peke of Lisa.   Lisa adopted Ba-Ge from me in 2005 and that's how we met.
Ba-Ge was a sweet 6 year old that I was fostering-- which means  he's about 15 now!  Hard to believe.   He used to "dance" on the end of the couch whenever we got home since it was too hard to be in the midst of a crowd of Pekes.   He just waited his turn.
Ba-Ge and Chyna were great friends for 9 years and  I know he will miss her so much-- as will Chyna's family.
Chyna had 17 wonderful years of love.    Run  free, now little one.

PICNIC-- ABNER, LILY, BRODY, TOMMIE, ARBY AND BINGO

I have more pictures of sweet Abner-- the sheriff is in town!
He's with his deputy, Brody-- but Abner is more interested in seeing "what's up!"
Brody, I love your tie and hat-- such a jaunty angle!
Lily has her pink flower to give her pizzazz.
 You look stunning.
Tommie was adopted from us several years ago-- at the picnic!
He came in a stunning oriental coat-- wow!   I've never seen one of these.   He looked amazing.
Arby is always a pleasure to see-- she was one of the Bristol 18.   For those who don't know of them, they were a group of 18 Pekingese we got from a back yard bust.  They came to us in horrific condition, and living in filth, it's amazing to see how beautiful they are now.
Look at Arby run-- she loves the freedom and home she has now.  Her mom and dad, Peggy and Terry, are wonderful.   They help us with transport when we need it-- I love that.
 Arby  is happy and healthy...
She never did this before she came into rescue-- running with abandon.    I love it!
This is sweet Bingo.  He is one of our senior foster dogs.    He is being fostered in N.Va. and has such a wonderful foster mom, Maria.    She adores him and brought him to the picnic for us all to meet.
I love his face-- he reminds me of my Max.    So glad you came to safety in rescue.   The picnic was a great place to see and visit with our foster dogs and adopted dogs, and the rest of them, too.   We're already  coming up with ideas for next year's picnic!

PEKE PICNIC-- SYBIL, SAMMY, ROCKY, DAYTON, MONK, NIPPY AND POLLY

Are you tired of Peke Picnic  pictures yet?   I hope not!
I have a lot more!    This is sweet Sybil-- she was adopted  by Sally and David.    Sammy is hiding behind her (and his picture is further down).
Are you sticking your tongue out at me?   I didn't think so!
Nippy, you are adorable!   You have that wind blown look going.
I can see you were really hamming it up at the photo shoot.
 Monk was being so cute.
Oh, do you want to get back to the picnic?   There's a lot of fun and Pekes over there!
Polly joins her brothers for a perfect Peke picture!
Oh, Polly, you are so cute.
Here's Sybil's brother!    I loaded the picures in order, but sometimes they don't come out the way I want them.    I fostered Sammy and just loved him-- as foster parents, we get to love a lot of them!
Lisa brought her two boys-- I have heard her tell stories on these two.    We know what they can be up to.
Rocky and Daytona are looking very dapper for their photo shoot.
Daytona is grinning-- are you coming up with something?
Lisa has it under control!   Or she thinks she does. :-)

PICNIC PHOTO SHOOT

We had a photo shoot at the picnic to raise money.   It was new this year, but we hope it does even better next year.   Look at sweet Sammy in his cowboy hat!    He was one of my foster dogs and so precious.
His sister, Sybil, was all set for the big west!
Abner, Brody and Lily were ready to take on the bad guys. Oh, my, Abner, you are so cute.   (He was my foster, so I'm very partial.)
Buffalo-Buffy-- was all set with his hat and bandana.
Gizzy was trying hard to look like the tough guy.
Chester is so cute!    You wouldn't know he is blind-- that's how he came into rescue.
He lives near me and he and his sister, Abigail, came to the picnic and had to have their pictures taken.
Here's Gizzy again-- nope, you still don't look scary.
Not here, either!
Roger and Tiffany were our picture takers and Roger was showing some to Buffy's family.    I love new ideas for our picnic!   We had so much fun!
