GINGER KENT AND OREO IN THEIR NEW HOME

Ginger Kent and Oreo went to their new home on Friday.   They now have a brother named, Louie.
Oreo is still a small one, but gaining weight-- he's so active!   Remember, he was a thin 7.8 pounds when we got him.
They all found nice places to sleep, and of course Ginger and Oreo took their blankets made by their foster mom, Jackie.
Ginger Kent almost made it on her bed!
Dinner time and they had new bowls and new places to eat.
Oreo was busy checking things out.
He loves the dad there, and his human brother.
And Oreo's brother loves him!   Click on this picture and you can see a bigger version-- can you see Oreo? :-)
Oreo is still being "kept in line" by Ginger Kent, who mothers him and lets him know how to behave.   He must have never had rules before, but she is teaching him.
A beautiful girl, and now is her forever family!   I love it!

GINGER KENT AND OREO

Oreo came into rescue in November.  He was in a shelter because his elderly owner could no longer care for him.   He was so thin, not even 8 pounds.   He needed serious help and was "rescue only" which means a shelter knows the dog needs special care.
Oreo was sweet and his first foster home decided to keep on fostering him.  (He was going to move to another, but the first foster wanted to keep working with this tiny man.)
Oreo is only 2 years old and the first goal was to get some weight on him.   He is here with Dixie, one of the resident Pekes.
Ginger Kent came to us in November also.   And she was in the same foster home.
Ginger Kent had to have eye surgery and other medical care, so even though she had a very interested applicant, she wasn't ready.
And Oreo became very attached to her.   They became best friends-- this doesn't usually happen in a foster home.
Oreo and Ginger Kent slept together, played together, and looked for each other if they were apart.
These two, six years apart in age, became so bonded.
So, we asked Ginger Kent's applicant if they would be interested in adopting Oreo also.   And they were!
So before they went to their new home the end of last week, their foster parents took some group pictures.  Okay, Oreo, don't jump down!   And Pepper Ann is sticking her tongue out.
Oh, my, now Oreo is sticking his tongue out-- and so is Pepper Ann!   And Gizmo is yelling for a cookie!
This is better-- all behaving.  Group pictures are hard to get.  Ginger Kent, Oreo, Dixie (black), Gizmo, Bubba, and Pepper Ann.   Look for another blog on Ginger Kent and Oreo's first week at their new home.   The only problem is that the foster home is VERY quiet right now.  That's okay-- I'm sure there will be another foster there soon.

ABBEY PUPPY COMES TO VISIT

Abbey is a Peke puppy (with some Japanese Chin in her) that belongs to a friend of mine.  My friend was having surgery and so Abbey came to stay with me last week.
All of my dogs are old, some with special needs.  They didn't know what to do with this little one!
Abbey is a sweet girl, but full of energy and zip!
Abbey loves to be with the rest of the dogs-- but she isn't sure why they won't play like she wants to do.  Kai Kai just wants to rest.
Abbey plays a lot, but she likes to rest, too-- she has found many spots in the house.  Like on top of the couch.
Starlight is not amused.   "Who is this little nuisance?!"
Starlight and Kai Kai were on the couch with me.
Just resting and minding their own business.
And Abbey jumped up to join us.
She is a sweet girl.   She loves to sleep with us at night.  Our bed is a King size one, a good thing!  It's full!
Abbey helped me with the laundry, too.   I'll have to teach her more things she can do.  For now, she's staying here since her mom is still in the hospital.  She's having fun and the rest are learning  what having a puppy around is all about. :-)   Abbey is a sweet one!

FAREWELL ROXY

Roxy and her sister, Daisy, came into rescue in 2015.  They were only about 9, but their care had been deplorable.  Their teeth were awful, their eyes not cared for.
Wonderful vet care was given to both but we can't always undo the damage.  Daisy died of heart issues last fall-- I'm sure her bad teeth had contributed to this.   They were both sweet and we thought they were both healthy and would live a long time.
 Roxy was so precious.
She loved to roam around the yard at her foster home.
At the vet one time, I had to bring Sugar Bit with me.
Roxy was mesmerized by her and wanted to see her so badly.
She tried to get into the stroller.  Roxy had such a wonderful personality.
Roxy developed cancer and left her adopted mom far too soon.  Surgery was done, but the cancer returned and nothing more could be done.   She is now with her sister, Daisy, and can run and play now with her.  I'm so very sorry her time wasn't longer with her new mom.   Run free now, sweet Roxy.

A DAY WITH SUGAR BIT

Starlight wrote my blog yesterday.  It was short, but you know it's hard to type with paws.
Sometimes, I just need to slow down-- and do other things.  And here is one reason.  Sugar Bit.
Sugar Bit is 21 months old.   She keeps me (and her parents!) busy!   She is so active and takes a challenge of getting into everything.
Leaping from bed to bed-- no problem.
And she is happy!   So, all the business and adventure is done with joy.
Standing on chairs is fun-- and she doesn't fall much. Thank goodness!
She loves the dogs-- even Max has gotten used to her.  Max is Mr. Grumpy.
Getting into a cabinet to get all the straws-- that was fun.
Riding her bike (it's a Moppy-Push trike-- I push it with a handle) is part of her day when we go to the bus stop to get her brother, Beach Bit.
She loves to get up the stairs (I've changed my stair "security system" many times!) is fun because she LOVES to play and jump on our bed.
She likes to peek under the door to Starlight's dining room (the half bath!).
 Gazing outside-- what is there?
Pushing a baby in a shopping cart....
She can show me her discontent when I won't let her help me feed the dogs.
And likes to spread my magazine UNDER the coffee table.
Spreading the books is fun, too.
Sugar Bit learned how to open the gas fireplace doors-- the "pebbles" under the logs were so much fun to pull out and spread around.  (And it was fun for me to gather them up and put them back.)
Kai Kai got in the bouncy seat-- Sugar Bit sometimes get in it, too.   She's past the bouncy seat stage, but the dogs love it.
Sugar Bit claims it now.
Max is so used to Sugar Bit-- and Beach Bit!-- being here that he isn't phased much.  But, he doesn't have to watch her.
Like the day she kept saying "Uh-Oh" and I looked in and she has pulled her entire crib bedding apart.
Or when she kept going to the bedroom upstairs over the garage to jump on the bed.  I had to put a flip-lock on it yesterday.  The bungy cord worked for the day, but I was afraid it might snap off as she tried to wedge herself into the room.
Abbey Peke is visiting and she was freaking out with Sugar Bit at first.  Now she is right in there with all of us.
And Chumley loves Sugar Bit-- she throws his special toy over and over and over and over.....
Now you know why I took a day off yesterday-- sometimes, I just need a little time.  I would not trade any of it.  My life is full-- not just with Pekes-- but with grandchildren.  And two of them live across the street--Beach Bit and Sugar Bit-- so my life is very full.  Of love, activity, joy, chaos.   I love it!
