Dickens has made a lot of progress. His back was a major issue when he came into rescue. He couldn't walk. Now he can walk, a little wobbly, but he gets around. I think his back issues are the reason I haven't been able to house train him, but he tries to get to a potty pad.
He has a new trick. This board across the doorway keeps most of the dogs out of the living room and office. The living room is my office also, and sometimes, the dogs and I are in there as I work on something. Dickens decided he should try to get over the board. He succeeded. I don't know how he did it, but it must have been interesting to see. He walked up the steps to the couch. He looked my way. He has little vision, but he knows I'm in there with him. He was very proud of himself. One day, I was panicking because I couldn't find him. I looked everywhere. I finally looked into my office-- and there he was.
I carried him out of the living room and the next thing I knew, he was on the steps. I have a baby gate there so he can't climb. But he thinks he should, and he will rest on the bottom step. He's been full of adventure and exploring lately. He's an amazing little guy. I'm so glad rescue could help him.
