THE SUMMER OFFENSIVE OF CAMP RUNAMUCK

   For anyone who isn’t familiar w Camp Runamuck, my grandson writes the stories.  I help edit and add pictures.  There is a continued dispute between Camp Runamuck and this is a continuation.

The Summer offensive:

Lily believes that if she cripples the republics, they would be forced to negotiate. 

On July 3rd, Gigi and Tuk Tuk, with Snackington support, 

started rebelling against Granger 

and the new supreme chief Tolstoy.  

Runamuck was trying to send reinforcements to Snackington, but were relocated to stop the rebellion.  (Sadly, Callie has gone to the Rainbow Bridge.) 

The rebels quickly took over the living room and fought for the front hallway. 

The dining room was also taken by the rebels with hard fighting. 

(They had to be careful to not knock down the pictures and decorations.)

 July 4th

With most of the Snackington group downstairs under rebel control,  Runamuck started arriving through the garage and overran the rebels in the laundry room.

 Runamuck later realized that the kitchen would be difficult to take since it’s a rebel stronghold. Tolstoy and Granger launched an attack in the dining room and hallway but had minimal gains.  (Granger had to take a rest after that attack.)

Runamuck started taking the outskirts of the kitchen with surprisingly little resistance. This was weird… 

As Runamuck advanced through the kitchen, they were finally seeing the rebel armies, Tuk Tuk was leading the rebel armies of the living room and the kitchen. Tuk Tuk battled the armies of Runamuck and inflicted heavy casualties but retreated due to being overstretched. Tuk Tuk’s retreat gave about half of the kitchen to Runamuck.

Later in the month:

Runamuck scouts found out that Snackington was massing on the eastern side of the kitchen. 

Granger and Tolstoy had launched their own major counter offensive (the previous was to stop the Runamuck armies from advancing and try to make a stalemate for now).  

They were finally starting to make progress, the office collapsed, 

and Runamuck were being pushed deep into the dining room. 

However, Gigi arrived and stopped the governmental offensive. Seeing that their rebellion was weakening, Gigi and Tuk Tuk decided to declare themselves a new nation, “the state of Whisper Pine."  A provisional government would be set up until the war was over. 

Here is where it gets costly.  The Snackington rebels had opened the door trying to get extra supplies in.  However, Runamuck started launching assaults making sure the rebels couldn’t close the door.

July 6th

Paddington was starting to focus on this revolution, he wanted to link up both armies, in the process, encircle a massive Snackington army. 

So it was, Runamuck attacked on both fronts. Soon, the Snackington armies were overrun as the Runamuck army advanced.  By midday, both sides were able to link up. The republicans began to lay siege to the  republicans began to lay siege to the exhausted rebels in the eastern flank. Within an hour the rebels surrendered.

July  23rd

When it came, it came quick.

The rebels on the western flank retreated to the living room as the republicans chased them down.

 Tolstoy launched an offensive which broke Gigi’s line and she retreated out of the dining room and into the hallway. 

She tried to launch an attack on the stairs but it was a long and painful climb which which resulted in massive numbers of casualties. A few hours later, Gigi retreated back into the hallway. The living room was the designated capital of the rebel state, however, the exhausted rebels were retreating to it.

 Granger and Tolstoy were hitting Gigi with everything they had and she was devastated. She tried one last time to take back parts of the dining room but was defeated. Gigi desperately retreated to the end of the hall to meet up with Tuk Tuk. However, as Tolstoy and Grangers armies were right behind hers,

 Runamuck was in front of her. As both sides were closing in on her, Gigi knew that all hope was lost. On July 24th, at 7:39 PM, Gigi surrendered.

July 25th:

Tuk Tuk was shaken at the news of Gigi’s surrender but continued to fight on. As Runamuck and the rest of the republics were pushing into his capital, the provisional government collapsed and went on the run. As his army was at its breaking point, Tuk Tuk decided that the fight was lost. 

On july 27th , at 8:26 PM, Tuk Tuk surrendered. Tuk Tuk and Gigi will later be put on trial for treason, the war is as good as over. Scattered fighting continued for the next few hours as the last rebel armies surrendered. However, unbeknownst to the republics, this was only the beginning of Lily’s plan.

He looks so defeated. 

July 28th

Queen Lily was disappointed, she had hoped that the rebellion would last a little longer but it still accomplished her goal. So for the next few weeks to months, Runamuck will have no choice but to send more soldiers to watch over their colony. Now that stage one is out of the way, Queen Lily will start stage two of her plan.

Camp Runamuck is having a meeting. 

The elections in Camp Runamuck:

President Paddington, who had led the Republic since April 2023, resigned in the face of an impending Royalist attack. 

Cinnamon, who had led the Republican forces since the start of the war, almost 1 year ago, planned to take up the presidency. 

However, another powerful and influential dog, Piper, had his eyes set on the presidency. 

Piper and Cinnamon who both had very different political views, both began making speeches and fighting for public support.  (Were they "standing on the fence?")

Before we get into that, let’s get into the organization of the Republican government. At the very top of it all, the president leads the Republic. Below the president, the Vice President and Prime minister both have an equal duel position of power. There is also the Senate of the Republic of Camp Runamuck. The Senate is made up of 30 members, both from Runamuck itself and its allies and vassals.

Depending on the loyalty or de facto leadership, the senate’s power is a threat to the presidency or it’s just symbolic.

Next we have the Republican court. The court is made up of the remnants of the old monarchy/oligarchy of Runamuck and its seats are passed down to family members. It’s the least powerful out of all offices and organizations. Going back to the election, Piper founded the “Aristocratic party.”  

Cinnamon on the other hand founded the “Democratic party” with the new election around the corner, we will see who supports the aristocrats or the Democrats for the presidency. 

Cinnamon and the Democratic Party’s politics are:

Ending the war on the best terms for the Republic.

Republicanism

More freedom for the citizenry

Anti-imperialism

Anti-royalist

Piper and the aristocracy’s politics are:

-Ending the war immediately:

Aristocracy

Traditionalist

Stronger government

Pro imperial and expansionism

Pro-royalist

All of Mrs. Stacy’s puppies are siding with Snackington. 

Cinnamon is Anti-expansion. It would either be into territory occupied by Snackington or its allies. Plus, Runamuck may put a tighter grip on her own allies.  The thing is, Runamuck is pretty strained from the war so if the aristocrats win, they promise to end it instantly.  Cinnamon is distraught.

Piper would want tighter grip on his allies and would want to expand to Snackington’s sphere of influence.

So both want the others territory?   YES!

The Democrats will end the war when they get the best deal which means the war would continue for a while. Instant end no matter what OR a continued war. 

 Piper wants to end war, maybe go back to an aristocratic rule.  Yes, he wants the aristocracy to rule again like during the old days.  

Would Piper be king?  Probably not, the citizenry of Runamuck don’t like monarchy. It would mostly be an oligarchy/aristocracy/autocracy. He is really friendly towards Snackington.  (Dave is glad Piper likes him.)

Basically, since the abolition of the monarchy to the start of the war in June of last year, the Democratic party's support is uncertain due to the long war.

The election will be August fifth if that works.  Piper and Cinnamon (and Paddington) have always been buddies.  How is all this discord going to affect them?

The court will vote Aristocracy while most ordinary citizens of Runamuck will probably vote Democrat. Everyone else is uncertain.  Lily has to lay down because of all the stress.  

Crazy election.  It will decide the course of the war.  

The war may end if the Aristocracy wins.   There is no way to know what will happen. 

Thinking about it is exhausting.  

Lily had many new allies, they were all puppies, young and intelligent. 

A few of these young allies joined Dave with his new fleet. 

Gigi and Tuk Tuk are on the run and they gathered their remaining supporters and fled to the dining room.  

 They set up fortifications, waiting for the inevitable end.  Queen Lily, back in Snackington, knew that this whole plan would be lost if something didn’t change soon. 

Queen Lily ordered 3 divisions to enter the house and secure 3 points, these points make up of:  the office is point A.  

The hallway is point B. 

Holding the dining room is point C.

 These fresh divisions easily took control of the southern part of the hallway and hooked up with Tuk Tuk and Gigi’s army. 

The Royal army moved in to clear the office but met a Republican army under General Dickens. Dickens, who had looked highly on Snackington, sent an envoy to the Royalist lines. Dickens requested this he and his troops have safe passage out of the office and into friendly territory. The request was granted by the Royalists. 

A few days later, at the end of march, Queen Lily herself led a task force of soldiers and allies alike to the Colonials. There, she met up with her forces and allies and immediately sieged the living room. The exhausted defenders tried to hold out but were without food. The Republicans surrendered and the Royalists moved to the kitchen preparing to push the republicans out of the house.  (Lily took a swim break.)

Queen Lily decided to head back to Snackington leaving her general, a Great Dane named “Maverick” in charge of the operation. 

Dave’s fleet was almost ready for deployment: he met with the generals, admirals, politicians and his monarch and discussed the plan. He would lead his fleet to the creek behind Runamuck and launch a surprise attack. 

By mid April, Dave’s fleet was finally ready and was preparing for launch. Maverick had kicked the Republicans out of the kitchen and was forcing them to retreat to the garage. Queen Lily told him to siege the Republicans and wait for reinforcements before the final push. 

A few days later, Dave’s fleet is ready to set sail. The launch date is for July 21st. He knew that it would take a few weeks to reach Runamuck itself, if the operation went accordingly, his fleet would arrive in late July. By now, the reinforcements that had been sent to General Maverick had arrived on mass. Maverick began launching a series of attacks.  (Maverick lives next door.)

This pushed the exhausted generals Granger and Cinnamon deeper into the garage. 

President Paddington who resigned from his office, one he had held since April 2023, became a general and relieved Granger and Cinnamon of command.  He also relieved Dickens of the toy. 

 Paddington barely managed to stop the Royalist attacks and forced it into a standstill.  Piper helped. 

After many months of preparation, Dave’s fleet finally set sail. 

Their goal, land in Runamuck and raze it to the ground. 

Back in Runamuck, with Paddington’s resignation, Cinnamon and Piper were both fighting for popular support among the citizenry.  Dave took notice of this.

Cinnamon advocated for Republicanism while Piper represented the old Aristocracy. The election for the next president would be held on August 5th.  (The reason why it took so long is because the instability that followed was severe, despite nothing changing, the Republic needed new leadership.) 

General Maverick began using auxiliary units to harass the Republican flanks. Paddington’s forces had been constantly fighting for almost 4 and a half months. They were exhausted. The auxiliary units slowly started showing up in larger numbers. 

Paddington desperately called for reinforcements. With heavy bombardments and attacks underway, it is chaos.

 Paddington led his soldiers deep into the front yard where they would wait for reinforcements.

Dickens helped.

July14th:

 Paddington desperately needed reinforcements but they haven’t showed up. He called upon Gidget for reinforcements but she was bogged down facing her own attacks.  Gidget from Camp Fox Hunter must have heard all that was occurring. 

Paddington needed anything he could use to retake the Colonials. His troops were exhausted and he was all alone. Paddington called upon his old friend Hunter for aid and at the time of this writing, is waiting for a response.  (Hunter is now in his forever home.)

July17th:

In the evening of may 17th, republican scouts have reported seeing a large war fleet on the outskirts of allied territory. Piper told him to increase coastal defenses but do not worry. Paddington couldn’t wait for Hunter’s response any longer. (Was the enemy approaching?)

 Paddington needed to retreat to the very far part of the yard, almost to the road. Back in Runamuck, the Republican court, officially nominated Piper as the presidential candidate. Former president Paddington nominated Cinnamon for the presidency. 

July18th: 

In the early hours of May 18th, the Northern army fleet has arrived in Runamuck and has set up camp to far east of the creek. Republican scouts desperately tried to warn anyone they could about the impending threat. Mistletoe immediately scrambled an army to meet the invaders in battle. 

However, Cinnamon and Dickens travelled with her to meet the invaders. Soon, one of the biggest battles of the entire war had befallen the republic, the battle of Camp Runamuck.  The battle is happening right outside the porch.

General Lincoln, an ally of Snackington, led the eastern flanks. General Lincoln hit the Republics with everything they had, the line held firm. General Lincoln tried again and managed to almost break the lines.

 However, Dickens led a desperate counterattack and repelled the attack. The western and middle flanks struck hard and managed to dislodge the embattled defenders. Seeing their lines collapse, the republicans retreated. The election was still too far out but Runamuck desperately needed a leader so they appointed general Dickens as acting president.

With this authority, Dickens called upon the largest army Runamuck had ever assembled and met the Royalists for stage two of the battle. The Republicans had fled to the backstairs.  These are rarely used- it looks like Cinnamon dropped her harness!  

The royalists were closing in on them. As Dickens and his army showed up, the Royalist’s halted their advance. Dickens launched a counterattack of his own and hit the Royalist’s hard the battle lasted for 5 hours with both republicans and Royalists gaining and losing ground. However, both sides stopped fighting and made camp for the rest of the day.

July 19th: at about 12:00 the Royalist’s and Republicans met each other again for battle. After both sides trying to launch their own attacks, they were all repelled and there was another day of a standstill.  Gigi was ready for a break. 

For the next couple of days, the battle remained at a status quo. On the 24th, Royalist reinforcements had arrived but weren’t able to make significant gains. General Paddington and his men were still holding out in the yard, their goal was to remain here at least until the election to find out the outcome. 

July 26th: Back to Runamuck, the Royalist’s were able to make slight gains to the west, but they were substantial. Soon, both sides settled down for a standstill.  The armies are in hiding.

Side note: while Cinnamon was gone, Piper was using this opportunity to rile up the crowd in support for himself.

July 22nd: for six days, neither side was able to gain land, it was brutal sluggish battle with very little to no gains. Cinnamon travelled back into the house to continue her battle for support against the demagogue. General Lincoln tried to launch an attack on the western flank but was unsuccessful:

July 23rd: Back in the colonials, General Maverick placed Gigi and Tuk Tuk back in power, but they were really figureheads as Maverick and the other generals held de facto power.

Yeah, Runamuck was struggling without a leader.

They lost control over most of the Williamsburg Colonials. They side with Snackington.

Lily led the Northern army. They are friends.  

But there is a possible traitor within the Runamuck and her allies ranks.  A traitor??!  Tuk Tuk is appalled. 

Maybe it’s a traitor or an opportunist trying to win the election. Cinnamon or Piper.  No, it can't be.  This is the emblem of  one who betrays their alliance. 

Cinnamon and Piper are both fighting for the presidency.  Who knows, the war may be ending soon. The perfect timing for an election. Both alliances are exhausted.
