FAREWELL BINKS

Binks was in a Virginia shelter, and a year ago he came into rescue.  He needed a lot of help.
Sherry got him and he began his journey with her.  She fell in love with this sweet boy and did everything she could for him.
We quickly realized he was an older boy -- and a beautiful one with his deep red coat and chocolate eyes.
He needed gabapentin to be comfortable, and needed apoquel for his allergies and skin.   He also had heart issues and was on several medications for that.   He also needed a dental, which we did to keep him comfortable.  We hoped he would have a long life.
He couldn't do steps, but he could get around with a little help.  And Sherry was glad to help him as much as he needed.   She loves the seniors and especially this little boy.
He began to have seizures, but not on a regular basis.  It could have all been neurological with the symptons he was having.  He had disc issues, was limping more and having a harder time in general.  Sherry did all she could to keep him comfortable.
This week, his appetite decreased significantly and he was having trouble chewing and eating.  His mobility became worse and he was falling down.  He was restless and could not get comfortable.   There was nothing else that could help him.  His foster mom, Sherry, decided it was time.   So, she spent the day snuggling with him and loving on him.
Binks was loved so much by Sherry and I'm so glad he had love for the last year of his life.  It's the best we in rescue can give them.
He left this world with her by his side.   He was loved.   Run free now, little man.  💙

My heart gets heavy immediately with I see the word Farewell on the Must Love Pekes blog but we know it comes with the territory and we pray for comfort for the little rescued ones and some semblance of a happy home with love heaped upon these babies until their end. We know that their lives are sometimes shortened by the lack of care during their lives so we strive to give them an abundance of loving care and food when we adopt one of them.

Binks had a short period but his foster let him no that he was worthy of love and care. For that we are always grateful and try to do that for each rescue if possible.
