Linda, the Blogger/Scotty and Tess

Three of us were involved in transporting these precious Pekes on Thursday, March 5, 2009. Gwen, Gloria and I drove LOTS of miles to get them to safety. (Any rescuer would do this-- we are not special.) This is Tess-- a 10.5 sweetheart! She is really pretty and loves to be held.
These two came from a back yard breeder and have lived in confinement their whole lives. We are changing that! They will be in foster homes and given a chance at a brand new life.
Look at this face! Scotty is a true albino Peke-- very rare! He is 8-9 years old, and very sweet. He weighs about 16 1/2 pounds.
We will be taking care of all their medical needs and then they will be ready for adoption. If you are interested in any of our foster dogs, please email me at haveninhim@aol.com.

Linda the Blogger:
Some of you know me and some don't. To some, I'm "Must Love Pekes" blogger. But, I am actually more than that-- just like the rest of you.

I'm married to Matt, an incredible man. I wrote a blog on him last week. Here he is when we went to the Biltmore Estates. We actually have a life beyond Pekingese. :-) Sounds like blasphemy!

I'm mom to the two most wonderful daughters in the world. Here's my youngest, holding one of my grandgirls. And here I am holding those precious grandgirls!! Being a grandmother is the BEST job in the world! Maggie is posing with us.
And here I am with my oldest daughter, the mother of my grandgirls. It looks like we planned to dress the same!
And here are the grandgirls.
I have an incredible life-- loving husband, wonderful kids and grandkids. I have two incredible sisters. I went to Vermont to visit on of them. She lives near Lake Champlagne. It's beautiful up there!! My other sister lives right next door! How cool is that! (And one of my daughters lives down the street-- we're taking over the neighborhood!)
And sometimes I just travel to "the farm" where my older daughter lives. And I take the Pekes, and the foster Pekes and we get to visit HER Pekes and her two big dogs. Life is good on the farm!
And sometimes, I just stay home-- most of the time, I just stay home! I love my home. And I work on this blog. And my husband grabs the camera and takes my picture. You know, I don't have to put the horrible pictures on this blog haha. I don't like pictures of myself-- is that a woman thing??

He got this picture of me blogging. Maggie is helping me to write. Of course she is! She can do that with her eyes closed, planted next to my side. Really!! SHE CAN!
Starlight is making sure everything is done right. She's probably wondering why Maggie is right next to me, but hey, sometimes, you have to share the foster mom! It's just part of life.

I love fostering these Pekes. It's the best. I even asked for a pay raise and they gave me one! (Of course, all of you know, we all do it for free because we love the Pekes, but it made me feel better to know I could get a raise!)

And if you're reading this blog, like me, you MUST LOVE PEKES, too!

Starlight, One Nutty Dog

Starlight is modeling her new shirt.
She is trying to give different views of it-- but we can't see it! She doesn't realize this, is just trying to be a good model.

Or maybe she's just a little ticked at me for putting the shirt on her!
Maybe she'll just jump down and run away. Oh, wait. She can't jump off things-- it's wishful thinking! This trunk is probably a whole 14 inches off the ground. But, she thinks she's on the empire state building! Way too high!
She looked up right as I tried to get a view of the shirt. It says, "this pup's a little nutty." Amazing how that fits her personality!!
Okay, Mom, I'll just sit here. Are you done now?!

Other Snow Pekes

I've received more snow pictures and I had to share them with you! This is LuLu in her back yard. If you look hard, you can see some snow. But, a lot had melted, and LuLu was just fine with that!!! And for Virginia Beach, it was COLD! It was in the low 20s. We can barely move here when it's that cold!! (I know, we're wimps!)
These are Amee's Richmond dogs-- they did get more snow than we did. This is Darby's new friend, Coco, a toy poodle that belongs to a friend of Amee's - Darby loves to share her bed.

Sakks the Shitzu got stuck in it and Darby thinks it's wonderful to run and play and roll around - She rolled around so much that she got all of her sweaters dirty and had to go out "naked" later - but she thinks she is way too tough to have to wear a silly sweater - Macy - the oldest of the crew has of course seen snow before and just doesn't know what all the fuss has to be about -

It looks like there is almost a tunnel here!

They love the snow-- but it looks like they're really contemplating whether to venture down those stairs!

Lottie, the Snow Peke

This is Lottie, my daughter's Peke. She is the mom of my Peke, Scooterbug. Lottie is such a lilttle lady. Most of these pictures are on my daughter's blog of her kids and her life on the farm. They were so cute, I just had to share with my Peke friends.
Now, here is the little lady outside after the big snow! Look at her go. She almost disappears in the field of white.
Here comes Lottie! You can see her ears flying as she runs.
Still going! But, it looks like she is slowing down a bit-- this is hard work for a little dog!
Stuck. Can someone help a little dog out?

Richmond Pekes

Jeanne is one of our foster mom in the Richmond area. Now, they REALLY did have snow there-- unlike our "blizzard" in Virginia Beach! Above is DiDi before the snow. Below are DiDi and Snuggles/Toast in the snow. They are two of her foster dogs. They obviously love the snow! The snow was beautiful there. I love how it lays on the trees and bushes and the ground. It's just stunning.

Snuggles/Toast decides she is going to eat some snow.

Wow, this snow is a little cold. She's discussing this with Hanna.Doesn't this just make you want to get a cup of coffee and sit outside?!

DiDi is wandering around the yard. Her legs are pretty short, so I'm sure she'll carry some of the snow back inside.

Look at that tree- I think the dogs will go over there to see it better.

Or maybe they'll just pose for a picture. Isn't Hanna adorable! She does really love the snow-- even if it sticks to her face!

March Snow

I live in Virginia Beach. We had a blizzard last night! Well, for Virginia Beach, it was a blizzard! I found some pictures from a few years ago-- you will be able to tell the difference-- last night's "blizzard" was significantly deficient!

Cranberry loves the snow! She has been praying for snow, dancing for snow. Cranberry's snow dance must have worked!! Cranberry finally found some snow!! She's looking at me as if to ask, "Where's the rest??"
Scooter goes out to help her look for more.
Now, Max is helping-- there must be more somewhere!
Maybe there's some on this tree.

Maybe there is some on the monkey grass. Starlight and Cranberry decide to look somewhere else for more snow.
Starlight gets her nose down to sniff out more snow! Cranberry follows her lead.

Now Scooter is sniffing- why is it that they all imitate each other? (You can see where Scooter's surgical areas are still growing in.)
Scooter and Cranberry head the other direction. There MUST be more!
Cranberry LOVES snow-- she is VERY intent on finding more. Just pretend you can't see the grass through the huge amount of snow we have.
Scooter takes the lead now. Hmmm, Cranberry seems to be following a lot-- totally NOT in her personality.
Max, Scooter and Maggie check out a new area near the gate. This is a tough job--
Look at the amount of snow in our front yard and on the roof! You can see why we have such a rough time getting out in it. I know all of you in N. Va. and other areas of the country really feel sorry for me. Maybe if we collect the snow in the entire front yard, we can make a really good snowball!

Oh, look at this! The deck is almost covered-- pretend you can't see between the slats. I love the early morning when it's just getting light-- so I went out and took pictures. My neighbors probably think a nut lives over here.
There's a little dusting on the chairs and the railing.

I think this is all the snow we'll get this year. But, we can PRETEND it was a blizzard!
