JESSIE'S PEKES-- PUPPIES

Remember Jessie's Pekes from the June 22 blog? She sent me pictures of them as puppies. There is nothing cuter than a Peke puppy-- well, other than my grandchildren of course!

When they get tired, they just stretch out anywhere-- in the bed, out of the bed....

They look up to their older Peke friends. (Remember this is Moonie, who died a few weeks ago.)

He is looking at the cat-- I think the cat is bigger, but not for long.

And now they are both resting, one in and one out. I think Sadie is in the bed, and Sid is out. Am I right, Jessie?

Look at that face. And you know she smells like a puppy, and has that soft soft hair ike a puppy and those tiny kisses like a puppy.

Speaking of tiny kisses, I think she is ready to give one now-- she is looking for someone to give one to.

And look at that puppy belly!! Oh, puppies are so cute!~

OLLIE AND BUFFY

Ollie and Buffy were both adopted from PVPC. They parents adore them and can't imagine what life would be without them. BORING I'm sure! The Pekes keep them very entertained! These two really love each other and they romp and play and run through the house stealing toys from each other and having tugs of war. They both love walking and visiting around the neighborhood.

Oh, don't you love looking at this picture in July!! It's so hot outside (except in Australia where Lady Jicky is and it's cold there), so pretend you are sitting in the snow with Buffy and you'll cool right down. Buffy loves the snow!

Ollie is on the alert-- I love his harness. Pekes should wear harnesses when they go for a walk to protect their throat. Ollie was one of my foster dogs and was adopted before Christmas several years ago. This past year, I took my grandkids up to see their house at Christmas and it's going to become a yearly tradition. I love visiting and seeing their beautiful decorations!! (Okay, is talking about Christmas making you cold-- I hope so, we can use anything to cool us down.)

They all came to the Peke Picnic this year. Buffy is meeting a new friend-- it's not Starlight. It looks like Starlight the Terror, but it's not.

All the Pekes at the picnic were so cute! And there I am at the picnic holding Caleb and Maggie-- Maggie was one of my foster dogs who was adopted last year. And Caleb, of course, now contributes to the blog now and then. ;-) He's our "Maryland contributor."

Back at home, Buffy loves sitting in front of the window, surveying the neighborhood.

Here is Buffy with Flat Stanley-- he was a school project for one of the grandkids. Buffy looks very innocent here, but don't let her fool you. She pulled Flat Stanley apart!

Yes, she did! She also likes to nip at Ollie whenever he gets any attention from anyone and she won't let him get on the bed or his mom's lap without a fuss. She's such a girl! Female Pekes can try to rule! I know-- we have Queen Cranberry here!

Here they all are with Flat Stanley-- I think he's still in one piece there.

It was a long day-- and they're both tired. I think they're going to take a npa. I think Ollie will be asleep first.

JANEY AND HER NEW FAMILY

Janey was in foster care and had so much fun at her foster home. She liked to be "king of the hill"-- or should I say "queen of the mound."

She and CoCo were good friends. I wonder if CoCo misses her?

I think she has acquired some new toys that she picked out herself on one of her outings to the store. Look at that face-- she is so happy!!

Her new best friend is Lyon, the French Bulldog. Janey looks vicious! But, they are just playing. Honest!

Her new mom says they are REALLY playing a lot now. Lyon looks very happy and they even started to chase the poodle around together in play. (maybe they think as a pair they will be more successful in tagging him!).

Here's a better look at them. "I know she's behind me," says Lyon.

MURPHY
Remember Andy? He's now Murphy. He wasn't in rescue very long-- he was SO SWEET, but he had a lot of skin problems. His personality won the love of his new owner.

He loves his new home and is waiting while his mom fixes his dinner. He's on an allergy diet now, just in case that's why his skin has trouble. His mom is having him all checked out and if he needs to see an allergist, he will. I just love this new mom-- she is what I'm looking for all of the foster dogs. She is totally committed to this little -- well, big-- boy!

He is walking into the kitchen or maybe it's the family room. His buddy, Nick, is behind him.

I guess it was the family room! Murphy is playing with his new friends and everyone sleeps on the bed together. Look at this handsome face! His new mom says she already can't imagine life without him. Now don't you wish YOU had adopted him!? :-)

MY NAME IS MISSY

"My name is Missy. I've been in foster care for awhile-- I don't know why, I'm so beautiful! I was rescued out of a Maryland shelter. If you remember, I had pink ears! I had two eyes then, too. But, my right eye was pretty bad and it was giving me a lot of trouble. I'm so glad I don't have to worry about that anymore."

"Whoever owned me must have taken me to the beauty parlor for pink "highlights." They're all grown out and my hair is a beautiful creamy white."

"I live with three other Pekingese right now-- but really, I'm a princess and would love my own home where I can get all the attention. Some of the other Pekes think nothing of just blundering into my space! REALLY!! What are they thinking? Oh, yes, they're not thinking-- they're just playing and they forget I'm a princess. I know I don't look like much of a princess in the picture, where I'm standing in front of a fan. I love it!"

" I love to nestle on down pillows in my foster's Dad's office, or on the black ottoman in the family room. I'm not supposed to get on that-- you know, white hair on a black ottoman. Oh, well, I get up anyway. My foster mom really thinks it's cute."" I like to "sit pretty." I can sit up and talk-- it sounds like "growly talk" when I want something. After all, a princess has to espress her likes and dislikes. Here are some of the things I like: sleeping on my foster dad's lap, giving him kisses, loving-biting my foster mom's feet (I do this to try to hurry her up when she's making my dinner). I LOVE going for walks at a leisurely pace-- after all, a princess does not rush! I love playing with my toys and balls and I like going to bed early and.....

sleeping in, especially when it's cold or rainy. I am not crazy about puppies (they're so active!), and I'd rather be in an adult household."

" I like a calm environment. I'm usually pretty good about going outside and get along with most dogs as long as they don't crash into me. Subjects are not supposed to crash into a princess. Okay, it's time for a nap-- aren't I beautiful!"

Remember Caleb? He was adopted last month. He's doing GREAT in his new home. He is learning some play manners, because he thought it would be okay to pull his new Pekingese sister around by her ears, and she has such beautiful ears. His new mom had a nice quiet chat on appropriate play behavior and after she was done, she got a huge face kiss. Did he understand?? :-)
Caleb loves playing with his toys. He loves his red/orange stuffed crab, but he also like the "Green guy" because it has a better squeaker.

" It sure is nice and loud! I like toys that make a lot of noise, don't you?"

"I'm going to conduct a squeaker comparison test on all my toys."

"Whoa, what was that??? Where di Fu come from??"

"Boy, that girl is FAST!"

"I really want my green guy with the noisy squeaker back from Fu. So I have a plan."

"I'll just make this little duck head quack away."

"I think I hear her coming....."

"SHE TOOK IT!"

"I'm such a smart Peke! Now back to the squeaker test!"

And Fu looks like she doesn't know what happened! She'll have to be content with another toy!
