FAREWELL CASH

Cashew came into rescue in spring of 2022.   He was in a shelter near me.
He was in their foster program and asked us to take him.  His foster parents were so loving and stayed in touch when he came to PVPC.
The shelter thought he was 6-7 years old.   He was a stray, so we didn't know, but he wasn't an old boy.
Rita, one of our adopters and helpers, fostered Cashew.  He was a sweetheart.
His foster mom adopted him.   He had some medical concerns and she decided he would be hers forever.   They went to Florida for the winter and met friends, China Doll and Machi (who just went to the Rainbow Bridge).   It was fun living near another PVPC member.
Cash's health caused some concerns.  His liver levels weren't normal.
He also had some heart issues.   That's unusual for one so young-- maybe he was older.  It's hard to know when we get them with an unknown background.

His mom sent me this email:  "Sad news, yesterday my little man lost his battle with liver cancer.  He certainly gave it a good fight and continued to be his sweet self to the very end."
Even when we know that their lives may be shorter than we hoped for, it's still so difficult to lose them.
Run free, precious boy.   So many met you when you arrived.  💙
