Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese, their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for 14 years. Lots of them have gone through our home. We have loved them all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET KAI KAI
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAI KAI!!
Kai Kai came to me as a foster dog a little over six years ago. After a year, he was still here, so I adopted him.
He had beautiful brown eyes.
He had the sweetest temperament and was so timid. His family said they had a two year old and couldn't keep him anymore. We welcomed him here.
Kai Kai has been around all my grandkids and we have never had an issue with him.
Kai Kai developed eye issues over a year and a half ago.
He had cataracts and had already lost a lot of his sight before I realized it. It's amazing how dogs can adapt.
We did all we could do to save his sight, but he developed every possible reaction to the surgery-- he ended up with four surgeries and all we could do was have his eyes removed because of the pain. (He's also a good sport when I take funny pictures of him!)
He is older now and sometimes has back issues. But, he is my boy.
You know those special dogs that just steal part of your heart. Kai Kai has mine.
He sleeps touching me on the bed-- he has to be near me. This did not change when he lost his vision. He was always like that.
He has welcomed so many foster dogs to our home. My dogs have all been great sports about sharing their home and mom to help another Peke find a new life.
