PEPPER ANN

Pepper Ann was turned into a shelter by her family-- we don't know the circumstances, but we know she needed out of there.
She is ten years old, but look at that sweet face.
She has a lot of spunk in her!
 Look at her go!
She had a dental, and is all updated on her medical.
She is happy, easy, loving, small, and ready!
 Whoa!  That's a big jump!
She paused long enough to get a "still shot..."
 and a profile.
Then, it was time to roll around on the grass...
 and "peke" out for others.
She is a beautiful little girl.
She is being fostered along with Daisy-- and Daisy was so excited to have her join her in their foster home.
I think they're already telling secrets.   Welcome, sweet Pepper Ann!!

HANNAH ADOPTED

Hannah was 2 years old when she first came into rescue-- she lived with her new mom for 3 years until, for medical reasons of her owner, Hannah was given back to rescue.   Her mom was unable to care for her anymore.
Monica and Mark fostered her and Hannah and Phoebe ,on the right, became great friends.
They play and romp and chase.   They are great buddies.
Her foster parents decided they couldn't split up these two best friends.  So, Hannah is home, and a happy girl!     We're so happy for you, Hannah-- and Phoebe, too!

TO MY FOSTER DOG

A poem to my foster dog

I am the bridge... (my Max above, some foster dogs don't leave)
Between what was and what can be.
I am the pathway to a new life.   I am made of mush,
Because my heart melted when I saw you,
Matted and sore, limping, depressed,
Lonely, unwanted, afraid to love.   For one little time you are mine.
I will feed you with my own hand.. (former foster Lu and his brother, Cooper, the puppy)..
I will love you with my whole heart...
I will make you whole.   I am made of steel.   (Bear and his Yogi)
Because when the time comes,
When you are well, and sleek,  (Cassie, coming into rescue next week)
When your eyes shine,
And your tail wags with joy
Then comes the hard part.
I will let you go--not without a tear,
But without a regret.
For you are safe forever--
A new dog needs me now.
by Diane Morgan
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR FOSTER MOMS AND DADS WHO DO THIS OVER AND OVER.   OUR HEART BREAKS WHEN WE LET THEM GO, BUT WE ALWAYS LOVE THEM.   AND THEN WE CAN HELP ANOTHER--AND OUR HEART GROWS BIGGER EACH TIME WE DO.

STARLIGHT GOES TO THE GROOMER

Starlight came into rescue in 2008.   She was in rough shape, kept in a crate in a pitch black room.  She had not been treated well.    She stayed with me for fostering.   She had a lot of trust issues.
People came to meet her, but she would have none of it!  She became baby cujo if people wanted to touch her, let alone hold her!      So, because of her personality, I've never taken her to the groomer.  I've done it myself.  She has a beautiful coat, but lately, she seems hot and I can bathe, do nails, trim paws-- but I cannot do haircuts.  Nope.   I do a terrible job.
So, I took her to my vet for grooming.  I told them she had all her morning meds, including an extra one for anxiety.   I told them she may not make it and just to call me.    My husband and I took bets on whether we would be called-- we both thought we would.
Well, I did get a call.  They said, "Don't worry, Starlight is giving us kisses."
Did someone switch out my dog?
She came home with a bandana, shorter hair (not too close, don't want to change how her coat grows), ribbons in her ears.
My son in law said she looks like a marshmellow now!
Oh, the look-- did he hurt your feelings?   You look beautiful!    Now we can take bets on how long the bows will stay in there!

RICKY-A NEW PRESENT

Sweet Ricky was one of my foster dogs.   I LOVE when adopters stay in touch.   We attach our hearts to our fosters and knowing they are doing well is a gift.
Ricky has his summer cut and was posing so he could let me see how cute he is.
He and his brother, LJ, used to live close to me, but now they live about 1 1/2 hours from me.   Time for a road trip!   His mom and I are friends, so I may have to do a visit soon.
Did someone get you a present, Ricky?
 They did?
Go outside and wait for it to arrive!
Oh, there it is!   A soft, therapeutic bed.   Older dogs love these because it's so good on their older bones and muscles. (Maybe I could use one of these now!)   I love you, Ricky!!

FIA AND COLTRANE

Fia is one of our foster moms.  She is also a Dog Trainer and Behaviorist and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team.  Above is one of the terrified dogs she worked with who became a sweetheart and was adopted (he obviously isn't a Peke, but was in another group).
She is foster mom to Coltrane.   He came to her as a scared Peke who was in a shelter and didn't really trust people
Fia's dogs also helped Coltrane to learn what being a dog was all about.   He loves other dogs!   Chancey and Coltrane are great friends:   Click here: Coltrane and his buddy Chancey - YouTube
He was part of their family photo.   He loves car rides and meeting kids at their school.   He also loves balls, toys and playing tug of war.    Belly rubs and being brushed are also high on things he enjoys.
Coltrane and his buddy get on so well!   If you have a dog that needs a playmate, this may be your boy.   Coltrane is ready to go!  (He does need time to bond and adapt, but many are like that.  If you are a patient person, who is willing to give him time to settle in, we'd love to hear from you)
