COCO--WINTER!

Melinda's girl, Coco, is getting used to being an only dog now that Moi Moi is gone.
She is getting a lot of attention and love-- which she got before, but maybe she's also getting extra.
She was rescued after a breeder decided she was no use anymore.    She is such a sweet girl.
Since it is winter in Australia, Coco has her "show coat" in great condition, thick and shiny.   No summer cuts there!
She still does her "high five" with her mom-- a tiny paw coming out to say hi.    You're beautiful, Coco!!   We love you!

FAREWELL JULES VERNE (JULIUS)

Jules came into rescue in the fall of 2012.
He was a beautiful boy who had been found wandering around a golf course.   No one claimed him.
He came into rescue and was given medical attention.  He needed quite a few medications-- heart, liver... but he was able to have a forever home.   I love those adopters who will take a special needs' dog and love them.  They are my heroes!
He got along with dogs and cats and was so sweet.
One of our previous adopters met him and fell in love.   So, he joined his brother JR.   Here they were after a spa day.   He was best friends with his brother.
He was a stunningly beautiful Peke.
He loved his adopted home, and they called him their little adventurer.
His mom said, " It was a wonderful day when he came to stay with us, forever!  He had such joy in his heart, a smile on his face and he loved his Daddy more than anything.   Best day ever was sitting in Daddy’s lap, or playing with Daddy or just being near Daddy.  Jule-bug had lots and lots of best days ever, Daddy loved him very much (and Mommy, too)!  He was a great little guy."
Jules had a bad heart, but he was a little comedian and his health did not effect hit joyful outlook on life.   He had a brain lesion that came out of the blue,  He had a wonderful life and his parents were the best.    They said they were so grateful to have him in their lives.    I am so glad he was in their family-- he had so much love and care and that is what we want for every dog we help.   You can run free now, little man, no health issues-- but your pure joy remains.   You were greatly loved.

KOKO-- PRAY

Koko came to me as a foster in March of 2014.   She's a beautiful black and white Peke--
 Absolutely stunning!
Koko began to have seizures and she did well on a 3 times a day medication regimen.   She knew when it was time for her meds.  Smart girl!
In November, an application came for Koko-- and it was near my house!
We went to visit and it was obvious that this couple had already fallen in love with Koko.
She loves sitting on Daddy's lap.
 Her mom adores her!!
I received a call today-- Koko has just been diagnosed with IMHA.  Hemolytic anemia-- this is what Lexie had and I'm very upset.   Koko has now begun the fight of her life.     Please pray for this sweet girl.
She has begun medications and I saw her at the vet today-- I just hope her body heals and she has many years left.   She is such a sweet girl.

PEANUT

This is Peanut.  Oh, my, the hair!
He came into rescue after his owner took him to a shelter.    She said "someone else is moving into the house."   So, the dog had to go??
His skin was in terrible condition, missing hair all over.
What you could not see in pictures was the smell-- it was awful.
He went to Roger and Lucinda's for care until he could go to a foster home.
He settled right in at Roger/Lucinda's.
He got treatment for his skin-- and he began to heal.
Lots of baths and medication have helped him.
Peanut is 8 years old and has blended right in.
His hair is starting to come in and his sweet personality is blossoming.
Oh, I love this!  Look at that    He has been neutered and had a dental.
He just went to his foster home, so I know I'll get a lot of updates.
In fact, he may be visiting me for a week while his family is on vacation.   So, you know I'll take a lot of pictures.
He needs drops for dry eye, but that is not unusual for Pekes-- with their eyes, they often need some help with lubrication.   He's very good about it.
He is only 13 pounds and loves people and other dogs.    As he continues to heal, he will be even more beautiful!
If you want more information on him, just email us at potomacpekes@gmail.com.

GIZMO

Gizmo is a 5 year old Peke who was an owner turn in this month.   Look at that face!
He was a little unsure-- he had been in his home since he was a puppy.  The owner said she no longer had enough time to give him.
I think he likes his foster daddy!   He has time for Gizmo.
Gizmo has settled right in-- and he does fine with the other dogs there.
He brought his bed and toys, and he is fine with sharing them.
He found an available lap and climbed right up!
He met Timothy and Hazel, the two donkeys at his foster home.  They sure don't look like Pekingese, do they Gizmo.
He also met the cat who lives there and was not impressed-- but he wasn't bothered either. :-)
At the end of the day, he curled up in his bed and fell fast asleep.   When you have a busy life, that's what you do!    If you are interested in adopting Gizmo, just let us know!    Click here: Home - Potomac Valley Pekingese Club

ROXY AND DAISY

Roxy and Daisy have been in rescue a week now.   They are both so sweet.
They were matted some and the easiest (and coolest) thing to do was to give them summer cuts.
I could not tell them apart (in pictures) once they were trimmed down, but there is a 6 pound difference in them, so in person, I could tell them apart.
 Even their bandanas matched!
After their grooming, it was time for rolling around.  Oh, that was so much fun!
 Are you done?
Daisy finally decided it was time for a nap.   She is feeling better this week-end.   She had her teeth cleaned last week and lost 19 teeth!   She has 7 left.  Her mouth was in awful condition (the worst I've seen), but she is doing great and finally able to enjoy her food now.
Daisy has decided to share a bed with Hurricane.   Seminole and Hurricane slept together, but since Seminole died, Hurricane has slept by himself.  Now, he just might have a new buddy!    I'm so glad!   Roxy and Daisy will be available for adoption soon!
