THE CAST OFFS

Most of the dogs we take into rescue have ended up in shelters through no fault of their own.  Tuk Tuk was a pet store dog and that means he came from a puppy mill.  These are dogs whose parents are probably still there.
We do get some who were loved.   Lex and Dallas are two of them.   Their owner became ill and had no one to care for them.  (They are available soon for adoption.)
Sissy came from a back yard breeder.   She was kept inside (never going outside) and I don’t know how many litters she had.  She is a senior and after a failed adoption, she was returned to me.   Look at her smile.
However, there are times when we get one-or two in this case- who have just been kept to breed.  Over and over.  Medical care has been non existent.   And when the breeder is done w them, they become the cast offs.  No thought.  Just take them to a shelter or worse.  This little girl is one of them.   She is small, blind and half of one ear is missing.   Will we help? Yes.
This one was part of that group, too.   The “breeder” (I know good, reputable, high quality breeders.  They do exceptional jobs.  They care for their dogs as their family. They sell only to approved, well checked out homes.  They don’t sell over the internet to just anyone.  But these two girls didn’t come from that type of place. They need our help more than many.   They are coming into rescue today.   We hope we can find them great, loving and patient homes. We don’t have names for them yet.   Sherry is getting them both today.  Are you up for helping one who has had very little.  They will need to learn to live in a home, learn that good food is available and that love is there.

HELLO FROM GIDGET

Gidget has been in her new home since June.
She was a HARD one to let go.
But now she is doing great and she helps her mom every day!
I think she is training for a big position.
Her mom even keeps a blanket on the desk in case Gidget wants to take a snooze.
She can also nap with her alligator. ❤️
Gidget is so beautiful and very special.   Her mom, Amee, totally agrees with me. 💖

MIMI AND BAXTERS NEW HOME

Mimi and Baxter went to their new home last week.
They ran around checking out everything and then they napped.
Mimi is in love w her new daddy.  I think Baxter will be a momma’s boy.
They are doing great.
They guard the street like most Pekes.
It’s hard work.
Mimi and Baxter were on a walk w their dad  and another dog startled her.  Her eyes got so big that one popped out.   They were able to get her to ER quickly and surgery was done. She’ll be rechecked next week.
Drama on her first day and her new mom and dad handled it so well— they already love this sweet pair.   They are loved and content. ❤️❤️

They found their forever home.

LIL CALLIE GURL AND AUTUMN

Lil Cali Gutl posted this awesome autumn picture.   Please share an autumn picture in the comments.

(Long week, and 1000 mile drive home yesterday so no long blog today.).

GOING HOME

By the time you read this, we’ll be almost home or already there.

Some of my blogs are more personal and this one is.   We were in Missouri for a family funeral.  And it was a time to celebrate.   My father in law wrote the note so we would celebrate his life.  Not mourn.  Yes we will miss him but what a life he had.  87 incredible years.   🥰

We took Henrietta and Zoey.

Henrietta showed me “I can do it myself!”
Zoey ate in the xpen.   When she finished, she thought she was looking at me.   It’s okay.
We snuggled a lot. And family members loved them.   Petting a lap dog can be so therapeutic.
The foggy morning view was beautiful.
The girls took naps on the couch so I could visit.
Pillow time for Henrietta.   Comfort care for someone.
The sunset was beautiful—days end after a sad but meaningful day of rejoicing for a life lived well.
On to home, back through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky (above) and West Virginia to Virginia.
The girls were so good in the car.
Home soon.  We are already planning when we can go back.  ❤️

FAREWELL BG

 BG: (Baby Girl) 12/15/05 - 9/21/22

BG came in to rescue in 2017.
She was turned in by her owner.
Furby and Rocky came w her and all seemed sweet but not super attached to each other.
BG was first known as Baby Girl, Beautiful Girl— and as her personality came out, her bossiness came out, a few other names were given. 😜
BG had a heart murmur and she could be a pistol.  Don’t even suggest a home nail trim.  (She was fine for the vet/groomer doing it.).
She could have a little temper.   Just a bit.
But, she was so loved.
BG had a rough time recently.  She began having serious nose bleeds.
No reason could be found. She was almost 17 and comfort was the priority.
She seemed to do better on Wednesday.  It was a good day.  But, that evening, she began to have a bad seizure.   Rushing to the ER couldn’t save her.  Kay and Claretta wrote:

“She knew we loved her. We weren’t ready for her to leave this earthly life. She chose her time,  leaving quickly after having had a happy day. She died just as she lived— to the beat of her own drummer.”
Run free sweet girl.  Find all your siblings who left before you.
YOU WERE LOVED.
💖

PANDA SAYS HAPPY SUNDAY

How can it be almost six years since Panda joined her new home.   She’s almost 12 years old now.  She just got a haircut and is acting like a puppy!   And she looks adorable.  She says HAPPY SUNDAY!

DALLAS AND LEX—TO THE VET.

Lex and his brother Dallas are doing great.
They had their vet visit yesterday.
Dallas was ready to go back to his foster home.
“Can we have a treat?” 😄
Why not?!!    Chick Fil A, here we come!

They will be ready for adoption once their dental is done.  Whoever adopts this sweet pair will be very lucky!
