HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃

 Rocco

Rocco is ready!  He’s going trick or treating!
Did he carve this pumpkin?    Looks perfect!

Clancee Marie had several outfits to try.  “Witch” one will it be?
She’s just pretending.  She could never be a little devil.
A princess would be perfect. 👑
What is your pet?    Mine will all be inside so they don’t get scared.   Make sure your pets are secure tonight.  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

WELCOME TO RESCUE RALO

Bogie, is someone new at your house? You know what it’s like to be a foster boy, so I’m sure you’re welcoming Ralo.
It’s usually Bogie and Sugar at the door.
But, now it’s sometimes Ralo and Bogie.   Ralo is bigger than Bogie who is such a compact boy.   (Yep, he still has part of my heart.).
Ralo came to us this week.    His owner is military and with her schedule and life changing, she needed help.   Bogie’s mom and dad said they would help.
Ralo is 13 and so sweet.   He’s a big boy— 21 pounds.
His owner sent his bed with him.  Part of home helps.
He’s a little confused but he’s getting walks (which he loves as he bounces along).
Bogie and Sugar will help him adjust.
You’ll be fine sweet boy.   Welcome to rescue.  ❤️

FRANCEY—A RESCUE STORY

Francey was in a shelter near  me.  Her owner said she didn’t have time for her.    Owners don’t realize the trauma these dogs go through.   Shelters are loud and scary and nothing is familiar.
Francey was terrified.  She would not let anyone touch her.   She was not letting anyone close.   She did accept a treat from my friend, Susan, who volunteers there.   Francey could not even go out because no one could get her to take her out.   Her kennel area was very clean and clean piddle pads were there. She even had a window.

I went to get her.  We got her into a crate and to my car.   “Are you safe?   Will you take care of me!”
She road to my house and I carried the crate to my dining room.
It was all set up for her.
You’ll be fine Francey.
She was curious and watching but I couldn’t touch her.  I let her rest.   I sat on the floor and let her sniff me.  She had no harness or collar on so going outside wasn’t able option yet.   She had piddle pads
Day 2– she made progress and let me touch her.  I was able to get a harness on her and we went outside.   At first, it was just in the fenced yard.  Safety is critical.  Paddington wondered why he wasn’t out there, too.
She was settling in.
Then, it was day 4 and we went to the vet.  I knew it might not be her favorite thing.  So they used a big, soft blanket to hold her securely.  And she did do well!
We checked everything.  Bloodwork and tick panel.  Urinalysis and ears and teeth.   She will need a dental.  She needs to be spayed.  She is only 8.9 pounds and needs to gain 2-3 pounds.
She has a tiny ulcer on my eye.  I knew something was going on because her eye was red.
And then she rested while they got her things ready.
Off for home and to relax.   Today, we are driving to meet Robin, who will be her foster mom.    I’m trying to step back some because my schedule is so full but I’m glad to help these little ones begin their journey.
Francey has relaxed a lot.  That will continue I’m sure.   She will not be available until her medical care is finished.  She needs to be healthy.
Welcome to rescue, Francey.  We’re so glad you’re here. 💖

AND THERES FOUR MORE..

It’s been a week in rescue.   We took in several before, but in the last several days, we’ve taken in FOUR!   Francey came from a shelter.  She couldn’t be touched   She was terrified.   (Yes, she’s on my lap.).
Sandy was in a terrible situation along with…
Suggy.  She really needs help.  She will get it.
Ralo joined Bogies family as a foster last night.   He’s a big sweet boy.
Francey is w me temporarily but will leave Friday for her foster home.

None of these dogs are available yet.  Information will come as we know more.  Today, they are safe.  They are being cared for.    Because WE ARE RESCUE.  It’s what we do. 🐾🐾🐾🐾

(If you have already submitted an application, let me know if you are still interested in adopting.   We will choose the best home for each one.)

TUK TUK — LAZY HAIR

So much serious stuff lately- so I thought we all needed a Tuk Tuk day.
Ever want to just do nothing w your hair??
Or let your mom just run her fingers through it?
Just cuddle and look out at your world- and then just step back and rest a bit?
Tuk Tuk takes those days.   He probably still has crazy moments, but there’s nothing like Tuk Tuk just letting his family pamper him.  Am I right Tuk Tuk? ❤️

A FAMILY LOVE OF PEKES

Most of you know that I've had Pekingese most of my life.   Paddington was a PVPC alumni.   Piper and Callie have been honored in.    I had my first Peke when I was 15, and it began the Peke journey.
Most of you know how royal Pekingese were-- only owned by the Royal Family in China.   I think they were all spoiled, like these being carried on a tray.
Kristin shared  her family's love of Pekes, and she has continued having Pekes in her life.  This is Kristin's mom's first Peke, Abie.   This was taken about 1930--wow, almost 100 years ago.   He was responsible for beginning her mom's life long love of Pekingese.
Maudie was Kristin's mom's girl-- it's amazing how many of us carry on the tradition of having Pekingese.  I know both my girls have had them.
Meghann has Granger and the famous Tuk Tuk.  LOL   Bad hair day?
Hugo was Kristen's boy-- he is trapped by Elsie, the Boston Terrier puppy.  He doesn't seem to mind.
Hugo was a beautiful boy-- with so many colors.   I love the tri-colored Pekes.
Diva was one of Kristin's puppies years ago.   Her sister, Fanny, is below, sitting on the chair.
Nico was adopted from us and was a huge fan of toys.   Hugo lived his life to the fullest.   His brother, Elwood, is now looking for a friend.
Fanny was using her royal status and sitting on her throne-- yes, Pekes believe they should be on furniture.   Are yours allowed?   Mine are-- they usually are willing to share though. :-)
If you have a family legacy of Pekes, share some of your pictures.  We'd love to see them!
