FAREWELL MACY

7-25-09 TO 10-21-22
Macy was a puppy when she somehow ended up at a shelter near me in 2009.
I didn't need to work, though-- my friend Tracey was on it and adopted her.
Tracey has adopted from us and is an incredible owner.
Macy was in a great home.
She was part of her Peke pack and such a sweet girl.
Pollyanna, Shadow, Colby and Macy were all lined up at their fence-- a fierce Peke Patrol.   Pollyanna and Colby were PVPC alumni.    Colby is her only Peke now.
Macy was 13 years old.   She had had dentals in the past, but every anesthesia "event" can cause problems.   Tracey didn't expect any.
But, Macy must have had a stroke during the dental.
After her dental, she could no longer stand, or eat on her own.   She was also blind.
This reaction is very rare, but when it's your own dog, it is devastating.
Tracey syringe fed her, gave her sub-q fluids to keep her hydrated.  She seemed to improve a little.
Tracey did all she could to help Macy recover, but strokes are hard and can cause permanent damage.
Macy let her mom know that she was done with the fight.  She had 13 wonderful years with her mom, and she was ready to join her Peke friends at the Rainbow Bridge.  So, Tracey held her as she let her gain her wings.    She is at peace now.   Run free, precious girl.   And hugs to my precious friend, Tracey.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
