DICKENS-SWEET BOY

Dickens is one of the #🎄24 rescue.
Dickens and Fizziwig were the two oldest ones.  They are both estimated 8-10.  (Why weren’t there any older ones?).

They both lived a hard life so their age shows.
Dickens has mobility issues    I have to carry him on stairs- he waits patiently for me  to help him. His back legs just don’t work well.

We did an X-ray and it showed compressed discs.  Only an MRI would show specifics and those plus surgery would be about $15,000.  It’s not an option. 😢
Like many of this group, Dickens has eye issues.  Injuries and infections were not treated.  Many of this group have been to the ophthalmologist.  Care is being given now but it can’t undo the scarring.  Some have less than optimal sight.  But like Cinnamon, dogs can do fine w vision issues.
I’ll keep watching over Dickens.  He likes to follow me if he sees me move around.  He usually drags his back legs but I’m going to try some baby socks in him to protect areas that rub on the floor.   He will continue to be monitored to see if pain meds can help him.  (He just had a major dental, so meds for that can’t be combined w meds for his legs.  Soon we can try those.)
Dickens just wants to be loved, he’s a gentle soul.  ❤️
