Winter was the youngest of the Christmas rescue. A tiny bundle of fluff. She’s healthy now, several pounds heavier and a sweetheart. Todd was coming to meet her. All of us hit traffic and it was a long day. But we had fun! Winter was meeting her new family. She is getting so much attention. She’s leaning right into it. Todd was excited when he realized she was going home w him. He even gave her the front seat. She had a seat belt of course. She has a mom and dad AND three teen girls to shower her w attention. She’s eating it up. Todd had lost his best friend recently and really wanted a new friend. He was watching her. She thought he was cute. π
He’s following her room to room. It’s love! Winter will spend the rest of her life being cherished by a wonderful family. It’s what we want for each of them. π₯°
Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese -- their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for over 20 years. Lots of them have come through our home. We have loved them all.

TD HAS A DAY
There were a lot of visitors.
Cinnamon didn’t go w me and she wants to know why. π€£Missy Mistletoe was very interested in the visitors. Jolly was there too. It was a a busy day.
He met a new friend named Todd. He is a sweet Tibetan. Winter was there. We took walks and they got snacks.
Missy Mistletoe went too. Pick me up!
When we got home, Missy Mistletoe was in a mood.
Cinnamon tried to be friends w her. But Missy was being a snit. Oh my! π was she jealous that everyone stayed home but her?TD was worn out and decided a nap was in order. And Jolly nibbled on his foster dad’s fingers. I guess that’s a way to calm down. lol.
We all had a good busy day!

A DOG’S PRAYER
A DOG'S PRAYER
O Lord of humans, make my master faithful to his fellow men as I am to him. Grant that he may be devoted to his friends and family as I am to him.May he be open-faced and as un-deceptive as I am; may he be true to trust in us as I am to his.
Give him a face cheerful like unto my wagging tail.
Give him a spirit of gratitude like my licking tongue.
Fill him with patience like mine that awaits his footsteps uncomplainingly for hours.
Fill him with my watchfulness, my courage, and my readiness to sacrifice comfort or life itself.

WINTER—HAPPY SUNDAY
Winter had a rough tummy day yesterday but she’s doing better today. Peke digestive systems can be temperamental at times. She has meds. I’m so grateful to our vet for helping her quickly. (Acredale Animal Hospital in Va Beach). They take such good care of our fosters. Winter and I are making a trip Monday to meet Todd. We’re going to see if they would like to be sister and brother. He sounds like a wonderful boy. π₯°π₯°
☀️Have a happy Sunday!☀️

LIZZIE BOO
This is Lizzie. She was Dahlia when she came to us from a shelter six years ago. She was a stray and she was young and timid. Afraid of everything. She was about 10 pounds w skin issues. They asked us to help. She was fostered in Richmond and her foster parents adopted her.
She joined Elwood, a PVPC alumni.
Moe was there and he was the boss. Then Elwood became the boss. Over time Lizzie, aka Lizzie Boo took over. Her dad said she is 12 pounds of attitude. Elwood and Moe are seniors now and Lizzie is the true leader.
If their dad ties Moe and Elwood’s leashes together, Lizzie will literally pull them home. She will look behind her on the way home during walks and bark at the boys to keep up. Lizzie may have started timid, but she became a princess. ππFriday, June 13, 2025
THE POTTER AND THE CLAY
Do you know the story of the potter and the clay.
The potter can take something that has no form and make it into something beautiful.
There are many ways that we can be given the opportunity to be a potter in a life. Rescue is one of them.
Rescue is like getting the clay and being a part of changing it.
Sometimes clay isn't ready to be used. It has to have something added to it.
In rescue, we take a dog who isn't complete. Maybe it's a health issue, maybe it's emotional trauma.
Some just need a place to grow and find joy until they find a home.
Some have issues and need a place to heal.
Some need a hospice home.
Some need gentle hands, just like a potter's hands, to hold them and fight for them.
Some are too broken to fix, but we can hold and love them, and they can be told how special they area.
A potter's hand must be gentle, or the mold can be broken.
In rescue, the foster parent must be gentle and trustworthy to mold them into healthier dogs. To help them know there is good out there and that they deserve to be loved.
Foster parents can help a child to become better. Medical doctors and nurses can be the potters who help bodies heal. There are so many ways people can be called to be a potter in a specific way.
In rescue, we can take one who is emotionally or physically in need and be part of the molding and healing of their bodies, their trust, their hearts. Thank you to all those who have been part of this. You have made a difference. You have been the potter who made something beautiful. π
