OREO UPDATE

Oreo came into rescue recently and is doing so much better.   

His bloodwork at first was fine except his white count.   A high white count can be all kinds of things-- infection, leukemia.... 

He was given antibiotics to see how that could change things.  He was just rechecked and his white count is SO MUCH BETTER!!  We are so happy!!   He is already neutered and he doesn't need a dental.  Wow-- that never happens.  

His hair is so thick and beautiful.   But, it was hot-- 

So, he went to the groomer.   He was so good for her!   He has only three legs, but that doesn't get in his way at all.   Oreo is ready for his forever home!   He's a wonderful boy. 💙

LEXIE LU -- A SIDEWAY RESCUE

LUCY LU-- LULU

We received a request to help this little one.   Lucy Lu's mom and dad passed away within a few months of each other.  She really missed being "the princess" and cuddling up with her person.   She still had a family (the daughter), but life was busy there and they asked if we could help her find a better home where she could be the center of attention.  

By "chance" a friend had messaged me.  (Funny how sometimes, requests come in at the same time!) Her dog had passed away and she was looking for another dog. 

So, I put them in touch with each other and it was a perfect fit!!   

Lulu is loving her new home.  She's so special there-- no other dogs or anything.

Her new mom's "Oma" is in bed and just adores having a little friend again.   And Lulu loves having that special place to curl up.  

Lulu is so happy in her new quiet home.   She is almost 14 and will live the rest of her life with Tammy and her Oma.   I call this a "sideway" rescue-- We don't actually bring them into our rescue.  We help find a new home and love when it works out perfectly!   A win win for all!  💜

PRINCESS AND HER DENTAL

Princess came into rescue several months ago.   

She relaxed very quickly.  Can you tell?  💜

Her skin was a mess-- no hair.  She wasn't in good shape. 

She wasn't spayed, she has a mammory mass (surgery in July) and her mouth was bad.

Princess had a dental yesterday.   Her mouth was so infected that all of her teeth were removed except for 3.   She had a lot of bone loss, too.

Many people think dental care isn't important for dogs-- but it's critical.  The infection in the mouth can cause issues with the heart and infection can spread.   

Princess' bloodwork was off when we got her, but yesterday-- with good food and medical care-- it was normal.   

It will take a few weeks for Princess' mouth to heal, but then she will feel so much better.   Good dental care is as important as good all around medical care for your dog.   Princess will be so much better -- she already is.  Love and good medical care go hand in hand.  💕

MEI LI AND FRIENDS

Mei Li is a dollbaby.    

She is a senior who came into rescue when her owner passed away.  

  

She came into rescue after her owner died.  (Do you have a plan for your dogs if something happens to you?)   She is about 13, never spayed (which was taken care of). 

She settled in so well that she decided she wasn't leaving and she let her foster parents know that.  :-)  Smart girl!! 

Rosie didn't care.   She's her "own self"-- a little off in personality, but her parents love her.   

Ginny LoLo is 14 now. How can that be?   Years pass so fast.

Rosie knows her mom loves her even with her issues.

She can be cranky at times, and then off she goes, for a rest.  

Melrose has been there the longest.   Such a sweet face.

Yes, those are Mei Li's friends.  Most are independent, but they get along.  

It's a sweet group-- all PVPC alumni.   What a nice thing!  

SWEET MAGNOLIA

Almost ten years ago (this coming August), we received a request to take in a Peke who was 6 years old.   She had been a beloved family member, but when a child was adopted who was very allergic to her, they asked us to help them.     

I love this picture of her-- I fostered her and she wasn't too sure of where she was, so she went and hid in the bathroom.   She soon learned, mostly through the other dogs here, that she was safe and loved.

My friend, Fiona adopted her.  I had met Fiona when she adopted Paddington from us.   I knew what a wonderful home Magnolia would have.  

Magnolia is now a senior-- and her new sister, Fresia, adores her.  

Magnolia has some dementia, and she has to wear a diaper, but she is still adored and cared for.  

And she is still beautiful.   I saw her over the week-end on my transport to Richmond, and had the pleasure of spending time with her.  It's such a blessing to see fosters who have gone through my home or other foster homes, and see how loved they are.   Sweet Magnolia is precious!   💕

FAREWELL DAISY

My friend, Sarah, rescued Daisy about 7 years ago.   She became a therapy dog and helped so many people.

Daisy had a huge personality and was part of our Pekingese Family-- even though she wasn't a Peke. 

Her mom has multiple dogs and multiple breeds.   She was Peanut's mom, and we all loved Peanut Doodle.

Daisy was 12 years old-- an old girl for her breed.  She had significant arthritis and pain was part of her daily life.   Her mom wasn't going to allow that.   We can only do so much, and when what we do isn't working, it's time.  

Sarah knew it was time to say farewell to her precious girl.

Daisy will always be part of our Pekingese family.   We loved her, too.    Hugs to her mom, Sarah.  Run free now, sweet girl.  

DIAMOND GOES TO HER FOSTER HOME

 

Saturday was transport day for Diamond.  It’s amazing how fast you can get attached.   But, I needed to move her because my life is a bit busy and stressful now.   I’m trying to only do temp fostering, not long term.   After over 19 years of fostering, I need some down time. 

We went to Amee’s house to meet Barbara who would meet Sherry.   And Nana was there!!   She is so sweet.  One of our recent adoptions.  

Zoey and Nana are both seniors and I couldn’t resist a picture of them both. 

Nana welcomed Diamond to her home.  Diamond charms everyone.  She may n  or t see, but her sweet spirit comes out.  

After Diamond continued her journey, we went to see Fresia.   Fresia is the puppy that came to us.  It was so fast because I knew within moments where she could go.

Scout was there, too.  She’s a PVPC alumni.  

She’s a sweetheart and she adored my husband.  We saw Magnolia, too, but she will have her own blog.  

There she is, sitting close.  Fresia is full of energy but Magnolia is a senior. And a PVPC alumni.  . 

Zoey kept falling asleep.  She goes w me a lot.  I monitor her health closely. 

“Doesn’t she want to play?” asks Fresia. 

Fresia is about 6 months now and her family adores her!  

Gidget checked her out, too. 

We were gone a long day.   The dogs at home must have thought we got lost because I’m never gone that long.   But, they did fine.   Gidget slept most of the way home. 

So did Zoey.   It was a great day, seeing friends and lots of dogs.   Next time, we are going to take Sissy to see Bogie and see if they remember each other.  I appreciate those that help w transport.   Thank you!!
