POPPY-- JULY-- LOST PET PREVENTION MONTH

Today is the last day of July and this month is Lost Pet Prevention Month.
Poppy was in our rescue 7 years ago.
She's a mix, but her shelter picture said "Pekingese!"   And I'm so glad she came to us.  What a sweet girl.
She was adopted near me, and her owner passed away-- but her granddaughter loved Poppy and had promised her grandmother that she would take care of her.
Poppy had a microchip-- and the other day I was contacted by animal control.   Poppy had been picked up and they still had my number on her microchip.    I keep a lot of files, and a lot of phone numbers.   While on the phone with animal control, I was able to find a number and Poppy was returned to her owner that day.    Poppy did not have a collar and tag/phone number on, and this would have really sped up the process.  It's so important to keep identification on your pets.   You never know if a gate could be left open, or if someone walks in and doesn't close the door all the way.  We can be so careful, but stuff still can happen.
Thankfully, Poppy was quickly returned to her home and is safe now.
Please make sure your pet has a microchip and that you update the information on it.  If you move, or change your number, check your microchip information.   And keep a name tag on them.   They may wander only a short distance, but a finder can easily help your pet get back home.   Poppy is safe!  I'm so glad!!  💜

PIP SAYS HAPPY SUNDAY

Pip was “Sweet Tater “ but she was nicknamed Pip and it stuck.  It’s perfect for her
She loves her new home and her family.
She and her brother are taking it easy on these hot days.  Staying inside where it is cool.  Hope you are staying cool, too.
HAPPY SUNDAY!

MUFFIE IS ADOPTED

Muffie came into rescue after she was turned into a Maryland shelter by her owner.  Looking at her now shows how far she has come.

Muffie had to have so much medical care.  She saw our vets, several specialists.  When we thought she was done, we realized she was having more trouble breathing.  So, she had one more procedure.  She had stenotic nares surgery.

It opened up her nose more, and  now her breathing is so much better!   She was blowing bubbles in struggle to breathe and it had become worse. Now, no more bubbles!!

Her mom said, "She is the sweetest little girl and spunky :)   It is such a great feeling to see the change in these little ones!  It is as if they were never abused.  She is independent, feisty, yet loving and happy!  I don't know how with all she has been through in her short life!  She makes me smile the minute I see her or just thinking about her!"
Muffie is in her forever home-- Foster to Forever.   Neglected to Cherished.  RESCUE! 💗

TUK TUK AND CAMP RUNAMUCK

Tuk Tuk and Granger are here while their family is on vacation.   We visit each other often, so it's a second home to them.   Tuk Tuk is a BUSY BOY!!
He and Granger love the yard-- they have a big yard, too, but mine has different smells.
And lots of border grass to hide in and explore.
Tuk Tuk discovered a bug underground-- he will get it!!   And the dirt on his face will show it.
His human sister said "he's supposed to be a Pekingese, but I think there's a bit of money and puffin in there."  😆
When it's dinnertime, he joined Paddington and Piper on their side of the laundry room.  It's a long room, and has plenty of space to separate dogs.   I'm very fortunate.
When it's medication time, Sissy gets very excited.  She doesn't know it's meds, she just thinks she is getting a treat.
So does Granger.   He is on four heart medications, and he's ready to "sit pretty" to receive them.
He has a "square butt" as we call it in our house.
At bedtime, Granger checks out the shower-- cool floors might feel awesome.
But, then, he jumps on the bed (we have an ottoman by the bed) and he curls up next to me.  WOW, he's a BIG boy!   He's over 20 pounds and is a BIG Pekingese.   Large framed boy, not fat.  But, it looks like he forgot to quit growing.
Tuk Tuk and Piper like to curl up together.
But, Granger is Tuk Tuk's favorite friend.  They wrestle and play and have so much fun.
At  the end of the day, they are all sleeping peacefully.   They all get along which is awesome.  Camp Runamuck is a happy place!   💕

JAN’S CREW

Winston and Gizmo came into rescue a few years ago.   Their foster mom fell in love with them.
They fit right into their home and just acted like this had always been home.
Winston is a tiny one-- they will both be 14 soon.

They had a new sister and brother when they joined the family.   Bella...
and Simon were my fosters and they were so cute.  It's hard to let them go, but there's usually another Peke who needs help so letting them be adopted helps make room.
Bella is definitely the boss.  Kind of like Sissy is the boss here.   Bella is so small, but no one fools with her.  LOL
Simon is much more laid back.   He loves the ottoman in front of the window.  There's always something to see.
These four have the best home.  Precious family Pekes!!

FAREWELL MOE

Gizmo was a sweet 14 year old when he came into rescue in February of 2021.
He came with his brother, Leo.   They were so close.    But, Leo had significant issues and his heart was enlarged.  We also suspected cancer.  He passed away three months after he came into rescue.
Gizmo became Moe-- and he was adopted by Penny's mom.  Penny was one of the Bristol 18.
He loved his new home.
He became best friends with Penny and he enjoyed hanging out on the couch.
He loved going on stroller rides.
Penny is now a senior, too.  They were two peas in a pod.
They curled up together to nap.
Moe began have health issues and was at the emergency clinic.
He had developed nephritis and pancreatitis.  He was getting round the clock care, but his body just couldn't continue to fight.
Moe was so loved-- his mom held him for a long time and Penny sniffed him as if she was saying good bye.   She will miss her brother.  Her mom will miss her boy.  Run free now, sweet one.  💙

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS GRANGER?

Granger is my granddog.  He was adopted from our rescue in April of 2016.  And Tuk Tuk is his brother.
Granger came from a rough situation, but he was ready to have a good life.
His hair was so short when he came into rescue, but it's long and beautiful now.
He's at my house this week.   Happy?!
I routinely check to see where everyone is.  I count dogs, especially if I'm going somewhere.
I see you by the Hoverboards.  Are you thinking of learning?
I can call Granger-- and his tail will wag.  But, will he answer?  NO.
My dogs won't jump this board to the playroom-- but I couldn't find Granger.  Guess where he was. Yep.  The playroom.
He gets between furniture.
He gets inside furniture.
He gets under furniture.   Wag Wag.

I still see you-- if I crouch down to look UNDER things.

Granger is so precious- but I will be looking for him all week I think.   He keeps me guessing!  😁
