HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM JOJO

I don't usually advertise my own birthday, but this just came from Jojo/Jonah, my former foster dog. Thank you, Jojo! I know it's going to be a wonderful day.

STACI'S PEKES

Staci is a Peke lover who helped us get Domino to safety. And Domino is being adopted!!! He's moving to NC to a home where there are several of our foster Pekes (now adopted). This is Ziggy. Isn't he cute! He kind of reminds me of Domino.

Her white Peke is Mocha. I think she looks like my Cranberry. I hope she is NICER than my Cranberry, who is also known as Cranky-berry. Staci comes from a Peke loving family. Her mom has two Pekes, and her sister has four. She's always had Pekes-- sounds like my kind of person!! Stacy, thank you for your help with Domino-- he owes you his life.

FAREWELL GEORGE

George was Jeanne's older boy. He had been a friend's dog. Jeanne kept George when her friend went into the hospital, but when her friend died, George stayed with Jeanne. Her friend died six years ago today-- so it is a double loss for Jeanne on this date.

George was the patriarch of his dog family. He was surrounded by small dogs.

He loved to survey his domaine from their back porch.

He loved to walk around the yard and patio.

He enjoyed just watching us from the little side yard-- surrounded by Pekingese.

He was good friends with Jill Lee also.

George will be missed so much by Jeanne and Bill. He was a big part of their lives and the lives of the dogs he shared their home with. Rest in peace, sweet boy.

TESS

Tess came into rescue in spring of 2009. She came from a back yard breeder who no longer had any use for her.

She came into rescue with Scotty Butters, who now lives in New York and has a week-end home in New Jersey. :-)

Tess was eleven pounds of pure sweetness. All she wanted was to be loved. She had to be spayed and have bi-lateral inguinal hernia surgery and she did very well. She was 8-9 when we got her. In this picture, she was looking at us as if to ask, "Will you find me a home?" You bet, sweet girl!

And she is in an incredible home. She was adopted in Octo of 2009 and she has gone from a little girl that has trouble walking across a room without pain, to a "rip roaring speed demon" that is adored by her parents. She has accupuncture and it has changed her world. Her parents also adopted Teddy from us and are now adopting sweet Domino. Check out the video to see how well Tess is now doing. We are thrilled!

EMMIE/HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUDREY

I want to wish a happy birthday to Audrey!! She has helped to foster Emmie and today is Audrey's birthday. I hope it's a great day!
Emmie has come a long way!

When she was at the shelter, she was very timid and trembling. Her owner turned her in-- I suspect she wasn't producing puppies anymore and so he didn't want her. She was confused-- but the shelter would not put her up for adoption since she was timid. If we didn't take her, they were going to euthanize her. Of course we took her!

She got to my house and was still afraid-- and very thin.

But, now she will just relax on my lap.

She will close her eyes like a baby and her little tongue will hang out.

"I'm trying to sleep." Can you see her forehead hair standing up. It's so cute.

Emmie LOVES to be outside. She loves the yard and the deck and exploring. I wonder if she ever had this before. She is making up for lost time.

"The sun is in my eyes."

"I think I'll just veg out and chew on a stick."

My goodness, your tongue is long.

I think she got tired of me taking her pictures. She walked behind the plants....

SAMMY

Sammy came into rescue in June, 2010. He was at a shelter near me and was scared, but when I met him, I knew he was a nice boy. Look at that smile!

He needed better nutrition. His coat wasn't in good shape, but I knew he would be a beautiful boy.

He smiled a lot-- look at him! I just love this dog. (Okay, I love them all.)

He was adopted and look at him now! He's stunning!! He is still as happy as ever and has a wonderful home in Maryland-- I love the updates I receive and they pass on lots of hugs for me!

DOMINO AGAIN

I found more pictures that Paige sent of Domino. These show how pretty he is!

He's posing with his blue bandana. He's such a gorgeous dog.

He appears to be housebroken-- oh, a blessing when you're a foster mom!

He is a very sweet boy, and loves other dogs. He likes to run and chase in the yard with Cubbie, Paige's Peke.

I think he's waiting for Cubbie now.

He does have separation anxiety, so he feels safer in an xpen if you aren't home. He needs a home where someone is home a lot to show him that he doesn't need to be afraid and that he is safe. If you're interested in adopting him, email us at potomacpekes@gmail.com.
