FAREWELL CHIPPER

This is Chipper-- he belonged to my friend, Cherry.   Cherry has a huge heart for little ones and she adopted many of our special needs' Pekes.   All those have passed on now except for Muffin.
Chipper was a loving boy, and I met him when she adopted Muffin.   He was so sweet.
He lived a wonderful life and was a great brother to all Cherry's Pekes.
Muffin (when she was here with me) is now Cherry's only dog.   She is older now, doesn't see or hear as well, but I hope she has many years left with her mom.
Your mom and Muffin will miss you, sweet boy.  Rest now, little one.

FOURTH OF JULY-- CAUTION

Fourth of July is a great day to celebrate our freedom. But, that celebration can be very loud and very scary for dogs. In fact, July 5th is the day the most pets are brought into shelter by animal control because so many run in fear from the sound of fireworks. Please: Keep your pet inside in a secure place.

Some need medication to stay somewhat calm.   Rammi was afraid of thunderstorms in the past, so I suspect if he hears fireworks, he will not be a happy camper!  I also use a large fan to create white noise to block out the fireworks sounds. Always, no matter what day it is, keep a collar and name tag on your pet. IF your pet gets out, you can be called if someone finds it. Block your doors if you are having guests over so that your dog cannot escape if frightened. For more tips, go to this site: Click

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MEGHANN AND CHRIS

Today is my daughter's anniversary.    Meghann and Chris have been married 15 years! WOW.
They took their kids on vacation, so I have Lottie the Peke and....
Pi-Pi, the Shepherd Lab here so they can have a vacation with us and all their doggy cousins.
They are both doing great.    I'm sure they would want to wish their mom and dad a Happy Anniversary!!

TIFFANY ADOPTED

This is Tiffany, a little 11 pounder that was turned into a shelter by her family.
She was terrified there and we were asked to help her.
She is only 5 years old and very sweet and gentle.
She just wanted to be loved and cared for-- and maybe have a doggy friend.
She going to have all of that!
She's going to a wonderful home where she'll be loved and cared for the rest of her life.
Oh, that sweet look-- I just love rescue!

FAREWELL EMMA

Dr. Rich Teague and his wife, Charee, lost their sweet girl Emma (on Charee's lap) yesterday.   She was adopted with her sister Cory (with her head on Charee's shoulder).  (Cory died in 2011.)  Emma was on the couch with her mom and dad when she rolled over and passed away.   They had nine wonderful years with her.   Emma had been rescued from a puppy mill and  she had a wonderful  life of love and security after all she went through in the puppy mill.    This pair was so special and we are so sorry for their loss.  You are now with your sister, Cory-- have fun running the fields!   Rest in peace, sweet Emma.

HARLEY MARIE

Harley Marie (aka Bubbles) was at the Peke meeting with her mom.
Harley Marie's coat has gotten so thick and healthy!
Here I am holding her, but she'd much rather have her mom!
Her mom sent some extra pictures of her.    Here she is after a spa treatment.
And she's so cute by the flowers!!    Harley is also in training to be a therapy dog.  She is so small, sweet and gentle, I know she'll be a blessing to those she helps.
Harley can be glamorous at times, too!
 She's good with kids...
The only thing she isn't good with is her mom not being with her.  Come back! :-)

PEKE MEETING

We had a Peke meeting on Sunday at Jeanne's house in Richmond.   It was a beautiful day and we all had lunch and the meeting outside, Pekes, food, fun, friends.  Martha, Valerie, Eve, and Fiona were enjoying the day.
Marian was ready to take notes, and the rest of us were chatting.
Jeanne told us all about the auction that just raised over $5,000 for rescue!   GO, JEANNE!
Lucy and Koko were there-- mooching melon off Tiffany.  YUM.
Koko realized there were chickens there- she tried to protect us all!
Biscuit was there with his mom.   He was adopted in June and has stolen his mom's heart!
I LOVE Jeanne's yard-- so festive and just plain fun to be in.   Don't you want to just take a seat here and relax a bit?
Koko decided to sit in front of the fan and let it ruffle her feathes.
Onslow was there with his sisters, Desi and Wanda.
Koko found the Koi pond-- she tried to get their cheerios!
Stay back girl!    We had a great time at the meeting!   We'll have another in September when it cools off.   Thanks to all for coming!  We accomplished a lot!
